Blame it on the EGR that's making it so dirty inside the intake manifold. Since the EGR blanking is done now, it will be cleaner on the inside. It was undone earlier but after seeing the soot inside, we've blanked it again.

Intercooler is clean for what I've driven it so far. Hardly any oil, maximum 5ml.

Check your owner's manual maintenance schedule if it requires cleaning.

Remove the hoses connecting the EGR/intercooler to see amount of deposition and then take a call.

Something related to the coolant? Its just a guess, because the green colour looks similar to that of the coolant.

I feel so stupid now. I did not know about this before that. I think it was a terrible guess.
Anyways, I will love to read about it as soon as you post it.
Since it is related to audio, the bass guitarist in me is awake. Excited about it.
(I am an audiophile but as of now, have not discovered many brands. Still stuck with my studies so don't get too much of time)

MODIFICATION #26: Anti-glare ORVM with LED Arrow Indicators

Paid ₹3,688.88 for the ORVM glass and it was delivered in 24 days. No customs duty was charged. I specifically informed the seller NOT to use China Post. I was okay with Hong Kong Post or Singapore Post.

****************************

Tools Required:
  1. Socket set;
  2. Trim panel Removal Tool;
  3. De-pin tool;
  4. Wire Stripper;
  5. Solder Gun.

****************************

Process of Install
  • Using the trim panel removal tool, remove the tweeters;
  • Using the 10mm socket, remove the 3 nuts holding the ORVM in place and pry it out;
  • Hold the ORVM glass at the base and pull it outwards to free it from the mount;
  • Turn the ORVM unit upside down and remove the cap at the base to pass the wiring;
  • Pass the wiring from where the other wiring loom has been passed and get the free ends near the main ORVM wiring coupler;
  • De-pin the two wires that connect to the LED indicator on the ORVM
  • Solder the respective wires and re-fit the pins in the correct location
  • Refit the cap that was removed in the earlier step;
  • Fit the ORVM glass and mount the ORVM back
  • Fit the Tweeter

Wiring to be used to power the LED Arrow Indicators (as seen on the main ORVM coupler)
  • Black+Red = Positive wire
  • Black+White = Negative wire

Thanks to BHPian interc00led for helping me get through this.

Happy that the glare from the ORVM is reduced to a large extent. Just need to get used to the LED Arrow's now and also need to fix the blind spot mirror on the new glass.

Another DIY update will happen tomorrow as we could complete only 50% of the process.

Does the glowing LEDs on ORVM make it a bit cumbersome to see the view in mirror (due to their glare)?

Not much of an issue actually but since it is new for me, needs getting used to.

Not too harsh in terms of the glare from those LED arrows.

Bangalore visit is for something else. Not majorly audio related.

re: Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!

After 35,000+ kms wanted to check what is the wear on the treads of the tyres. Used the tyre depth gauge that I had. Here's what I got:

Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!-img_20180825_1236521024x576.jpg

Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!-img20180824wa0046__011280x442.jpg

PS: These values aren't accurate to the T. Used it for a rough idea.

Coming from a 100/90W + 35W XP Micro (bi-xenon projector) combination setup to a 60W halogen projector + 27W fog lamp combination, it was difficult for me in the initial days to adjust to the lighting output but now it is okay since I'm getting used to it but not of much help while travelling at highway speeds on our national highways. I don't blame the projectors on the Creta since they are one of the best light outputs I have seen from the factory.

Only bulbs that were available were the Philips Xtreme Vision on Amazon.in. Here's the link

I got the bulbs from the distributor here in Hyderabad for ₹ 600 x 2 = ₹1,200.

Difference in lighting output (read brightness) is negligible as the Sylvania's are of 60W and the Philips XV are 65W, a bump by just 5W. Only difference that I could notice with the Phillips bulbs were the cut-off lines are a bit more sharper than the OEM Sylvania's.
Hi Anurag - Great compilation of DIY's and am in the process of upgrading the headlamps.
One question I had was with regards to the filaments. The HB3 9005 seem to have only one filament and hence wanted to know if this is the right replacement ? And haven't been able to find one with 2 filaments

The top end Creta comes with single bulb projector setup. It is the shield in the projector unit that switches the beams (read low beam <-> high beam).

HB3 9005 is a single filament bulb only. Which car are you looking for upgrading the headlights?
