re: Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!

Something that I had been thinking from day 1. I would prefer the rear chrome to be covered in white and the front grille to be black. Planning to get this done in the coming months. BTW, here's my friends Tucson with zero chrome.

Pros:
  1. Low-end improvement is multi-fold which was the main motto of the remap and not 0-100 type performance;
  2. Engine is even more silent than stock tune;
  3. In-gear acceleration has improved so lesser gearshifts;
  4. 2nd gear is enough to get going on speed breakers;
  5. FE is more or less same as a stock tune (I neither baby the car nor go all mental. To put it in simple terms, I don't drive like my a$$ is on fire!!)
  6. Highway performance is great, one mild tap and overtaking is a breeze.
  7. 3rd gear usage feels like I'm driving an automatic.
  8. 4th gear is explosive
Cons:
  1. Black smoke (due to excessive fueling) which is being rectified or rather I'll say it is being re-tuned by my tuner.
Uploading two images that I picked up from Quantum Tuning UK website for the 1.6L CRDi:

Attachment 1799154

Attachment 1799155

Brakes modification is a compulsory job if one is looking for a remap. I loved the Brembo's for what they offer and has solved all the issues related to brake feel/bite that was observed on the stock setup.

Hope this helps.

Hey Anurag, I was told that you were looking to retrofit Cruise control in your Creta. Were you successful doing that or did you hit a road block?

I saw couple of cruise control kits on Aliexpress, but not sure if they will work on older Creta.

Hello Sir, I tried to retrofit cruise control buttons on my car on Day 2 from delivery. Was unsuccessful in it and AFAIK the BCM is not cruise control compatible.

Left side, right side buttons, wiring harness and clock spring I purchased from AliExpress before my car's delivery

Clock spring also changed to see if it will work or not

See RHS buttons, with cruise control

Conclusion so far is, needs a new BCM and ECU too may be from the current facelift model. Not able to get hold of service manual/wiring diagram to check if any retrofit is possible or not.

Hi, Anurag! I'm really enjoying reading your thread. Your car post the remap must be a beast!

Though, I want to ask you if you have any suspension upgrades planned, since now the engine and brakes are properly up to spec.
I feel, the Creta with slightly tighter handling would make it a true all-round car!

Btw, I too own a 1.6 CRDi SX(o) Creta, early 2016 make, in silver.

I am not sure if there are any proper suspension upgrades for the Creta. Did try searching a bit online but no results were obtained so left it at that.

Do you have any idea?

So i left it and waiting for another bill with PMS and brake overhauling for escalation.
Same here. I am always charged additionally for Caliper greasing, brake cleaning, and diesel filter replacement. These add an additional 1200 bucks for the service cost! The previous service i managed to get the brake cleaning removed from the bill after arguing with the SA.

Sorry for the OT, Anurag!

Anurag - A friend of mine is getting his OEM Creta speakers replaced at a FNG. Hence wanted to check with how did they remove the rivets and what was done for mounting the new speakers. Any insights will be really appreciated as the owner is quite worried about possible damages while installing the new speakers

Guys doing the installation on my car used a grinder and cut 3/4th of the rivet head. Then used a hammer to tap it lightly so it falls off.

Take a new speaker ring and mark the 4 holes that held the OEM speakers on the door and drill holes on the speaker ring. Mount it in the same place as OE speaker was.

Hope this helps.

Did you see this jump in kms for an upcoming service when you use Mobil Delvac 1

Have a few questions, please bear with me:
  1. When the MID displayed 20,000 kms was it after servicing?

  2. What was the odometer at the time the MID was displaying 20,000 kms?

  3. When was the car serviced last?

:( Unfortunately, no.
The Creta isn't primarily driven by me, so I haven't gone too deep into thinking about mods.

The service reminder's "Days" and the "Km remaining" can be changed and inputted manually. Could've been a goof up by some one at the ASC. Not sure what effect using Delvac 1 will have on that.

+1

After my 40,000 kms service, the Service interval on the MID should display 10,000 kms and 365 Days but my MID was showing 40,000 kms and 365 days.

I had spotted that after I left the ASC and was near so I returned to the ASC and demonstrated it to my SA, he comprehended it and recognized the goof up.

Excellent DIY stuff there Anurag

Please see if you can wrap the door handles in CF wrap.

Now, after seeing your DIY stuff, I want to get the Rear Boot lid spoiler in my Baleno wrapped in Gloss Black. Of course not DIY though, but from 3M

Thank you sir.

I'm planning to leave the door handles and the front grille as is. Any other suggestions?!

How about the wing mirrors, is it possible to make the wrap stick on the curved surface?
