Why did you elect to change the fuel filter after just 20k km? Is this really in the schedule. A better investment would be to change your oil every 5-7000 km since it's mineral oil and that really should not be stretched to 10k km..

Yes sir, it is in the schedule hence went as per manual. I wanted to change at 10,000 kms actually.

From 30K service onwards, I'll be shifting to Synthetic oil (Shell Helix 5W40) and change the oil every 10,000 kms.

re: Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!

Viofo A119S Firmware updated as it was resetting the settings everytime I switch OFF the car.

Old Firmware: A119S_170622_V1.7
New Firmware: A119S_180115_V2.4

From the link: Viofo Support: A119S Firmware, I updated it as instructed. After the firmware update, the issue seems to have solved.

Old firmware

re: Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!

To address the funny but sad braking capabilities of this Hyundai, contacted Tarox (Pete's Kochi) & Brembo (United Motors, Chennai).

Pete's refused any compatible pads and rotors for the Creta lost 50% hope, but then United Motors told it is available hence transferred the amount online in a condition that, if not compatible, I'll return the package. He agreed! Paid ₹9,000 (₹6,500 for Rotors and ₹2,500 pads). Brilliant seller, knows what he talks and very kind and polite guy. Pretty impressed with the way he deals.

Part numbers

Rotors: 09.A532.20
Pads: P 18 025

Received the package the next day, pretty excited, I visit MRF T&S and started off with the DIY. Removed the caliper assembly to remove the pads and there came a blow on my face. Refit the caliper and reverted to OE settings.

The Package

After disassembly of the calipers, found these two clips on the OE ones. Brembo pads didn't have the holes to mount these clips. DIY abandoned!

These clips are the "Pads return" which return the pads to 0 position after the brakes are released (read pressure is released) to avoid premature wear of both the pads and the rotors. Without these holes on the Brembo, the installation can't be done. Sadly.

Refit the caliper, wheel and completed the wheel alignment, balancing and rotation.

This is majorly disappointing and a flaw in Brembo. Take it up with them. If they are selling a Product inline w/ a vehicle it should be compatible in all forms. Clearly they don't.

This is honestly not expected.

I am happy with United Motors (The Seller) as they had agreed for a return if not compatible with the Creta. So no worries in that matter. Just that I have the wrong car with useless braking capabilities.

It's good that the seller is complying but I've different fundamentals.
I believe that when a seller is selling a product particular to a model he should be well versed & damn sure about it.

It clearly shows that his said product isn't for Creta when he would have obviously claimed so.
That's something I despise.

Not Brembo's fault here. They don't make parts for the Creta sold in India.

You need to cross verify at bremboparts dot com, or the websites of Tarox, Textar & other aftermarket brake or component manufacturer before purchase. Either you verify by country --> Make ---> Model --->Model Year --> Engine OR use the OEM part # and check a cross reference chart. That's the ONLY way to get a guaranteed fit.

Oops. Thats sad to know. But its a good thing that you are able to return the pads back. Many others would have just said that once sold and opened, it cannot be taken back.

I did already address to what I believe a seller should do. Read my post just above yours

It might be Brembo's Fault but definitely seller must be sure of product first before confirming it to the consumer.

My bad, missed that one.

It's not Brembo's fault in the sense they don't make parts for this car. What they should do instead is advise the dealer to only sell parts that are 100% fit for the vehicle. The customer should cross verify at the aftermarket component manufacturer's web site if for nothing else but safety.

I blame the dealer. A4anurag and I have been in discussions offline regarding this brake upgrade. The one thing that stands out clearly is the Brembo parts in question are meant for other Hyundai models including the i30, Verna etc in EUROPE. The dealers believe these will fit Indian Creta as well. The only part Brembo makes for the Asian Creta is a rear disc rotor which is not applicable to the Indian model since it comes with rear drum brakes.

When it comes to a critical system like braking its best not to offer such misleading advice to your customers. The only consolation I see here is they offered to take back those parts & I hope they walk the talk. When it comes to car parts they are either fully compatible or not at all.

It might NOT be brembo's fault is what I meant

Missed that NOT there mate.

re: Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!

After I returned from MRF T&S centre, pinged my DIY partner in crime BHPian interc00led updating him regarding the problem with the pads for the lack of the holes for those return clips. He replied asking me to come to the FNG where we go always and we can see what is to be done.

After a while discussing the IF's and BUT's if I get going with the installation, the conclusion being we did go ahead with the installation. All the parts fit correctly just that the lack of those pads return clips.

Brembo rotors are heavier, thicker and higher quality in terms of feel and construction than the OE one.

Have done over 140 kms since yesterday. Been gradual on the brakes and done 1 emergency braking maneuver. Bite is smoother, progressive and the "pedal becoming hard" feeling didnt happen so far.

PS: 140 kms is a very short duration to realise or conclude anything. Will update the thread as I clock miles.

Okay. So how does it work perfectly now?
As in without the clip, how is the assembly falling back to the original place after brake pedal is depressed?

@a4anurag, congrats on the new kit. Let us know how it performs. It takes a few 100 kms to bed in after following the bedding in instructions. Hope the wheels were turning freely after installing the new pads and rotor.
