The list of mods keep getting longer and longer.. the good part is that you might easily have the best Creta diesel in the nation, feature wise, functionality wise and fun wise.

The bad part is maybe that the associated costs might be reaching entry-variant Tucson levels given the already expensive Creta pricing.

While I had parked the car by the road near the medical store, when I came back to the car, the passenger side wiper blade was missing.

Have had a positive experience with 'Bosch ECO' conventional wiper blades on my Swift so bought them and installed it 2 days back. No streaks and clean wipe.

Prefer these conventional wipers over frameless ones.

40,000 clicked!!

Before heading for the 40,000 km service that I had done yesterday, contacted the Mobil distributor in Hyderabad and bought a 5L can of the Mobil Delvac 1 (5W40). Got it from Rotex PetroChemicals, Tolichowli for ₹3,925 as against the MRP of ₹5,000 printed on the label of the oil can.

5th Paid Service, the following was done:

• Engine oil change (Mobil Delvac 1 5W40);
• Engine air filter change;
• Engine oil filter change;
• A/C Filter change;
• Fuel Filter change;
• All joints, hinges were lubricated;
• Brake pads cleaned and inspected;
• Brake caliper pins cleaned, inspected and greased;
• Interior vacuuming and washing.

Shall be getting the routine wheel alignment, balancing and rotation done tomorrow at MRF T&S Centre.

After 39,000 km, this is how the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport look!! Observing slight wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear if I go hard on the throttle.

Expecting them to survive 15,000-20,000 km more after which shall look at alternatives from other brands in the OE size itself as I am not looking for an up-size as the 215's are pretty adequately sized for the power the car generates.

Have clocked 20,000 km post the remap and Brembo's, pretty happy with both their respective performance. Expecting the Brembo's to last me another 30,000-35,000 km. Forgot to check the thickness when it was opened during the service.

Great!, that you got this covered under Periodic Maintenance Service (PMS). In my 16 year experience with Hyundai, they charge it as "Brake Overhauling" every time with multiple ASC's. I raised this concern with Hyundai a year back regarding the jobs included in PMS and they assigned the ASC to give clarification, which didn't provided any proper response. So i left it and waiting for another bill with PMS and brake overhauling for escalation.

Apart from the door hinges, any other areas lubricated?. Somewhere in the forum, i read that there are very few areas that can be lubricated in modern vehicles.

Why did you switch to Delvac now? If I am not wrong you try oils from different brands during every service .

Any issues faced with AMS synthetic oil or you just keep experimenting for curiosity's sake?

MODIFICATION #28: Pedal pad (Sport Type)

Wanted to get this from Swift days but kept on postponing as I wasn't comfortable drilling holes into the pedals to fit them and non-drilling types were too costly. While browsing found them at a cheaper rate during the recent sale on AliExpress for the Creta/IX25. Consulted the seller before ordering by sending an image of the OE pedals to confirm if they will fit or not. After I received a positive response, paid the money for a set of 3 pieces for Manual Transmission (₹498). Received them in 9 days flat (Singapore Post). Link to the item.

Expected it to be plug and play type but it wasn't especially for the accelerator pedal as the thickness of the OE pedal is same as what the pad that I've purchased was so it wasn't getting into the pedal. Have kept that aside and replaced the other two for the time being.

MODIFICATION #29: Added an LED strip to Boot

Had some left-over strip of the Wipro Garnet LED that I used in the footwell lighting in the Swift, Creta and also the same was used in the footwell lighting in interc00led's Fiesta, decided to use that also in both our cars. Added that balance strip to the boot (under the parcel tray) so it would light up better than the OEM boot lamps in our respective cars.

Items Needed

• LED Strip
• A pair of hands to help (thanks to BHPian interc00led for this)
• Star screwdriver + Flat head screwdriver
• Soldering kit
• 1 sq.mm wire (2m) - two colours for easy identification (we used red {+ve} and green {-ve})
• Insulation tape
• Nylon zip ties
• Bullet connectors

Process of Install

• Disconnect the negative (-ve) battery terminal;
• Using the flat screwdriver, remove the boot light;
• Fold the rear seat and remove the parcel tray to aide in working;
• Pull the boot door beading and pass the two wires required to light the LED strip (pass enough wire keeping in mind the length required when boot opens and lifts the parcel tray);
• Solder two wires on the base of the boot light after checking the polarity;
• Solder two wires connecting the LED strip (+ve & -ve marked on the LED strip)
• Crimp one end of the wire using bullet connector to the wires that were just soldered to the boot light.
• Crimp the other end of the wire using bullet connector to the wires that were just soldered to the LED strip;
• Connect the -ve terminal of the battery, connect the boot light connector, connect the bullet connectors and check if all lights are working.
• If all okay, refit the boot light back to its position, re-fit the parcel tray, peel off and stick it to the underside of the parcel tray and refit the boot door beading.

One big difference I see after using the Delvac 1 brew I see the Service due reminder (kms) to be almost double the one that I used to see with mineral oil !!

I've tried 3 maps so far and like the current one so far but this map too needs slightly more tuning due to the Cons mentioned below:

Pros:

1. Low-end improvement is multi-fold which was the main motto of the remap and not 0-100 type performance;
2. Engine is even more silent than stock tune;
3. In-gear acceleration has improved so lesser gearshifts;
4. 2nd gear is enough to get going on speed breakers;
5. FE is more or less same as a stock tune (I neither baby the car nor go all mental. To put it in simple terms, I don't drive like my a$$ is on fire!!)
6. Highway performance is great, one mild tap and overtaking is a breeze.
7. 3rd gear usage feels like I'm driving an automatic.
8. 4th gear is explosive

Cons:

1. Black smoke (due to excessive fueling) which is being rectified or rather I'll say it is being re-tuned by my tuner.

Brakes modification is a compulsory job if one is looking for a remap. I loved the Brembo's for what they offer and has solved all the issues related to brake feel/bite that was observed on the stock setup.

Got some free time in the afternoon to address a few issues on the car. Fixed the sports pedal on the OE accelerator pedal. Removing it was the difficult part as it was fit too tightly.

Parcel Tray Rattle & Rear Number Plate Frame Rattle - Arrested

Looks of this activity weren't the aim so it is okay as long as the rattles go away. It is silent over rumble strips and speed breakers now. Plus added double sided tape behind the rear number plate frame that was rattling over bad roads, that also solved now.

MODIFICATION #30: Carbon Fibre Wrap for the Chrome Strip on the boot lid

Been thinking of doing this for long and during one discussion on the WhatsApp group yesterday night, I thought why not try the same on the ugly Chrome Strip above the rear number plate that looked odd to me. So both interc00led and I did the trial attempt today and happy with the outcome as it was a first time for us. Thanks to his efforts in doing it the right way

Items Needed

• Microfibre cloth
• Spray gun
• CF wrap or the wrap that one prefers
• Knife
• Heat gun
• Socket set
• Squeegee
• Patience... a lot of it.

Process of Install

• Open the boot lid and undo the screws (2 nos) holding the boot cladding and pull the cladding off its clips;
• Chrome strip is held by 4 numbers of 8mm nuts and also held by two trim clips, remove them and push the nuts outwards to free out the chrome strip;
• Once removed, undo the part that holds the reverse camera and boot opening switch which is held by 4 numbers of star screws and 3 clips.
• Once this is removed, the part is ready to get wrapped.
• Clean the chrome strip with water and wipe dry using the microfibre cloth;
• Cut the required amount of the wrapping material to cover the entire area and also to tuck underneath so it holds well over the period of time;
• Heat the wrapping material enough so it is pliable and can take the shape without heavy creases/cuts. Over-heating will shrink the wrapping material and may not be useful;
• Using the squeegee, push out any air bubbles trapped and tuck the excess material behind so the finish achieved is smooth and clean.
• After completion wipe clean the area with a microfibre cloth and refit the parts back onto the car's boot lid.
