Wasn't Battery Change covered under warranty? It's been just 1+ year and IIRC you got your earlier battery changed too?

Battery under warranty that was given to me was 'Exide'. Swapped it for Amaron same day. No Exide for me.

I've never liked Exide myself. Can this swapping be done in my case? Battery is 1 year old and no issues so far.

Suggestions?

You can try and see. 800 bucks you'll get for the older battery mostly. Since mine was a new battery, I didn't need to pay difference value. Got a good rate for Amaron.

re: Hyundai Creta 1.6L CRDi SX(O) - An Ownership Log - Update: 1,00,000 km up!

Preparing the car for my first long road trip starting this Monday (20.05.2019).

Hyderabad >> Goa >> Mangalore >> Hyderabad

The trip would be lasting roughly 2-3 weeks. Hope the Creta drives well and is reliable with no untoward incidents. Expecting to add 2,500 kms to the odometer post this trip. FASTag will be put to use, let's see how effective it shall be throughout the trip.

Shall update the thread after the trip completes.

Current Odometer: 55,900 kms. No issues so far.

Completed the trip yesterday and reached home safely at 19:30. On the whole, below was the route followed roughly:

Hyderabad >> Goa >> Uttar Karnataka >> Mangalore >> Bangalore >> Hyderabad
  • Was a study trip plus a recreational one where we visited a total of 63 temples and 3 churches on the whole during this trip covering 3,296 kms.

  • The car behaved well and being my first long trip, just didn't feel tired anywhere and enjoyed driving - impressed with the Creta. Plus a special mention to the Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 lights that made night drives relaxing. Couldn't imagine doing the same with the stock halogen bulbs.

  • Spent nearly ₹12,000 on fuel and got 14 kmpl (100% A/C was ON).

  • Stay in Goa: Miss Jenney's Homestay, Saligao - booked through Airbnb for 6 days. Was a great place to stay for the budget we had.

  • Stay in Gokarna: Kamat Hotel. A pretty average hotel that we chose since we were tired and couldn't cover all the temples in Gokarna so decided to take a break and continue the next day.

  • Stay in Murdeshwar: Dhenu Atithya - Neat, clean and small room in the town of Murdeshwar, 0.5kms from the Temple.

Shall be sending the car for 60,000 kms service in a few days. Will be placing an order for Petronas Tutela Technyx (75W-85) transmission oil from 99rpm.com and AMSOIL or Mobil Delvac 1 (5W40) Engine Oil locally.

Transmission oil would be changed at my FNG after the 60,000 kms service.

Also will be looking to change the tyres in another 5,000 kms - shall be looking at Michelin this time mostly (Primacy 3ST in the stock size).

I see that most of head units mention updating DLL files. What is the OS used in these systems ? Is it related to Microsoft since they are DLLs ? Or they call them that instead of using generic name of shared libraries ?

Been around 1,000 kms that the pedal feel was spongy and also wanted to change the brake fluid completely. Collectively bought a brake bleeder kit from Amazon. All pictures and details here (Tools for DIYer thread)

Shall be doing the DIY job at my FNG tomorrow. Will be collectively performing the same in BHPian's atulsian's Creta and BHPian interc00led's Fiesta.

Issues & Pending jobs:
  • Judder when releasing the clutch at standstill in 1st and/or Reverse gear in both my Creta and BHPian atulsian's Creta.
  • Flush out the old brake fluid and fill-in new one completely from the system.

******

Tools Needed
  • Brake bleeder kit for faster process completion and it is tidier to work with
  • A 10mm spanner
  • Gloves
  • Floor Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Wheel nut wrench
  • Empty containers to collect the old brake fluid
  • TVS Girling Brake fluid (750ml to 1,000 ml)
  • Waste cloth to wipe any spills

Clutch & Brake lines Bleeding - Process
  • Opened the Master cylinder reservoir cap, draw out all the old fluid as much as possible and fill-in new fluid;

  • Remove the cap off the clutch release cylinder air bleeder valve and insert the plastic tube over the nipple;

  • Open the nut and then create a vacuum in the line by pressuring the bleeder pump, fluid would start flowing out and continue till fresh and clean fluid isn't seen in the plastic pipe.

  • Once the clean, new fluid is seen, tighten the bleeder nut and remove the pipe and spanner.

  • Pump the clutch pedal 4 to 5 times and drive around at slow speeds and see if the functioning is normal or not.

  • While bleeding the brakes, sequence to bleed was: Rear right >> Front Left >> Rear Left >> Front Right.

**CAUTION**
  • Keep a close watch on the master cylinder reservoir to NOT let it run dry else air shall be sucked into the system
  • Exercise care to not spill brake fluid anywhere on the car's paint as it is highly corrosive.
  • Be gentle with the bleeder nut/screw as snapping it due to excessive force will render the car un-driveable.

Before doing the process on our cars, we first did the trial on the Karizma

As we met each other late in the afternoon, all we could do was, master cylinder air bleeding in both atulsian's & my Creta and complete brake fluid flush from my cars brake lines. In the coming weekend, we'll be meeting again to do the full bleeding on atulsian's car and interc00led's Fiesta too.

Can't tell how good the brakes and clutch action have become after this activity. My car is now at 60,000 kms and never have I bled the brakes. Same is the case with BHPian atulsian's Creta that is at 39,000 kms roughly and both interc00led and I instantly realised that the judder is just horrible in atulsian's car and the clutch line needs to be bled so did that on priority. He is a happy man now.

I'll be doing this activity once a year so the whole system is clean and runs as desired.

That's it for now. Shall be sending the car for 60,000 kms service soon and update the thread with the service costs.

It was very nice meeting Anurag and Interc00led.Thanks to both of you for Bleeding my clutch (Bleeding my car made it better :-)) The judder issue WAS so annoying on my car. Now it feels like a new car or may be better than a new car. One should drive it to believe it - before and after. It is must if you face this issue and if we reach out to A.S.S, they will surely say "sir, clutch plate replacement is needed".

Front Right Strut - Leaking & Changed under Warranty

Two days back while driving to the MRF T&S Centre to get the periodic wheel alignment, balancing & rotation done, after the wheels were removed, was casually checking the brake pad (thickness), lower arm bushes condition etc, found that the right side strut wet in oil. Checked the left one and it was dry. After completing the activity, while crossing speed breakers or undulated roads, was getting a faint 'thud'. Called up my SA but he was on leave for two days so he asked me to come today to the ASC so he could check and let me know.

Reached the ASC at 11:00 am and handed the car, in 10 minutes he said that the warranty has been approved and the car would be handed over at 18:00.

Odometer: 60,247 kms.

Part Name: Strut Assy - FR, RH
Part Number: 54661-A0100
