Maruti 800 36000 km short review

Hello,

Our 800 bought in sept. 2000 has just completed its servicing at 36000 kms. the servicing was done at Sai Service. Following work was done during the service:
  1. Paid servicing
  2. Tappet setting
  3. anti rust spray
  4. Wiper blade replaced
  5. Brake cleaning
  6. LH diff side axle boot replaced
  7. Balance rod bush replaced
  8. All tyres were replaced with Bridgestone radials. The earlier tyres were factory fitted Ceat Cross ply tyres.
  9. Gear lever bush replaced
  10. Rear LH door winder replaced
  11. Wheel alignment
  12. All brake shoes & pads replaced
  13. PUC
Over all service experience was very good. Only the washing of the car left a bit to desire. The glasses were not cleaned properly. Due to radial tyres, the steering has become free. Cant say much about the difference caused by change to radials as the car has run for hardly 1 km after servicing. A question: The dealer has given a bottle of fuel additives to be emptied inside the tank before filling up. the bottle is about 100-150 ml capacity & "Fuel injector cleaner" is written on it. Is it part of the routine? This is the first time such an additive has been handed over to us. Service advisor told that Suspension bushes too need to be changed in next service.

The car is excellent. Mileage returned in Mumbai driving with AC on 60% of the time, is 16.5 to 17 kmpl. With one way run on the Pune Mumbai expressway & remaining city driving, it returns 20.3 kmpl. The pick up is not bad either. The engine is very smooth. The car has not given any major trouble till now. It has been a happy ownership experience till now. Battery was replaced 2.5 years ago (15000 km).

AC was fitted 2 years ago at the same workshop. It runs, well, without any trouble. Cooling leaves a lot to be desired. Anyways, it will be the same in all 800s i guess. The AC saps the power of the engine.
