Just curious as to why the wheel would lock up if the ABS is working effectively?

Suman, ABS kicks in when the wheel starts to lock up, releasing the pressure for a microsecond, so that the wheel starts spinning again. Whenever this happens, the pedal judders and that is how you know that the ABS has kicked in !

btw, I just completed a 550 km trip today. Odo reads 18600.

My baby(first time I am taking him on a long trip) acted as a speed limiter, and guess what is the mileage I got? 22kmpl, with 99% a.c. On a previous run on the same route(Bangalore-Kochi) last month, I was able to get the same fuel efficiency - I excercised self restraint and it helped that the entire run was during the night. Very few vehicles.

Today though, it was mayhem after palghat, I used a light foot for most of the journey except for the Amballoor - Angamaly stretch. I am amazed at myself, to be able to produce such a good mileage.

Now I can vouch that it is always the driver(and conditions) which makes the difference. The car will return the mileage you want it to.

P.S> I am not sure if it makes any difference, but I have been using SYSTEM D, for the last two refills. However, the run last month was done without it, so it may not affect mileage at all.

Also, I used BP normal diesel once, car did not like it at all, felt very sluggish.
