Woww; been sometime that I saw a resurrected VTEC on the forum - Congrats and a great job restoring it to its former glory! . Which year is it from; didn't quite catch it from your posts!? The late 2002-03 models had the low rpm jerking issue resolved from factory; not that it matters much.
You're in the right place (blore), where there's still a very good support system to maintain these old but classic beauties.

A timeless design like a gen2 city VTEC still makes me skip a beat, was my first car as well, which I unfortunately lost in a mishap! The pics brought back all those good memories.

Wish you many happy miles with it; keep it well and drive safe!

Definitely one of the 90s kid dream come true!

SAG and the city restoration is truly a no corners cut kinda work.

Love the way the body skirts and the stock alloys look - I own a G16B with the stock 14inch alloys and always wondered if the side skirts would look nice with stock alloys.

You've answered that question as I read this today.

ENJOY!!! - I will stop you if I spot the car for sure!

I spot a Pioneer TS-20 (also known as the Tsssss 20 ) in one of the interior shots - hope you have something better planned. even the HU looks out of place. if i were you, I would rock a period correct cassette player, with a bluetooth adapted hidden out of sight and hooked up to the aux/CD changer input

Did you have to replace all the window glasses? We have a Civic at home which was lying around unused for more than a year and it's window glasses have yellowed (or brown?!) to an extent and does not look fresh at all which is not the case in your car.

Nice to see a Honda SX8 Vtec that gets restored. It’s a lovely machine and deserves the respect it demands. Would recommend that you upgrade the suspension which would enhance the driving experience. Would also recommend getting the final drive swapped to make the drive more engaging. The stock gearbox is quite tall and boring, but definitely gives the best mileage. All the best

Few pics of my Oct 2000 vtec.

Wow, the first-gen City still looks like a beauty. Kudos to you too for patiently executing the restoration work. Just out of curiosity, could you share internal pictures of the car after it was restored?

Hey Sandy

I haven't replaced the glasses. There are swirl marks and a few scratches which makes it tough to drive in the night. Will be changing it the next time I give it for service.

Hey Greenhorn,

My windows are rolled down by an inch as I drive just to listen to the beautiful exhaust note . I have plans on getting a decent audio setup in the coming days.

Your car looks awesome mate. Want to lower the car but I'm worried because of the kit and BLR roads.
Fuel efficiency is a must as I use it almost everyday hence sticking to the stock gearbox for now.

Re: Childhood dream fulfilled | My 1st-gen Honda City Vtec | Fully restored

Congratulations on fulfilled your childhood dream! I can completely understand how it feels to fulfill the Honda bug which bit you while you were in school as I fulfilled mine a couple of years back.

I consider the Mk1 city and Lancers to be one of the best looking sedans that have ever gone on sale in India. Wishing you miles of happy motoring.

Re: Childhood dream fulfilled | My 1st-gen Honda City Vtec | Fully restored

@GMReddy Many congratulations on the car and the work done on it, looks absolutely splendid.

I have a 2004 VTEC that I wanted to get done up as there is suspension, power steering belts and a few other things. I have been looking around for a good mechanic for this as the dealership is way too expensive and sourcing parts is difficult. Are you open to introduce me to Vasu Anna so I can talk with him about what needs to be done and get his thoughts. Also if you have other reliable contacts for body work and other mods that would be highly appreciated. Please PM me if you are open to connect.

Thanks in advance!
Andy

Hey man! Sorry to quote you without consent but I was looking to fulfill my dream of getting a VTEC Honda City. I found one but the seller is quoting 3.3 lakhs. Is it worth it? They've obviously modded the car with Raj Hingorani Headers and Exhaust, and have also lowered the car, but the exterior looks immaculate in pictures and mostly stock. Should I go for it or is it too high? City Vtec has been the dream since 2011.
