Buttons?? for what?? There are never buttons to switch on or off an airbag.

beg to differ but there are cars with buttons to overide the system and put off the passenger airbag. some of them just have a light to show the airbag is off.

Which car? I cant remember any. Some do have a sensor on the passenger seat which detects a child sitting on it, and shuts off the passenger airbag.

But no button AFAIK.

Actually, the previous gen. Octavia was sold with a switch inside the glovebox that would activate/deactivate the passenger airbag. Needed the key to operate it. Thats one car I know of for sure. I'm sure there would be others.

Though most now would have the sensors I guess.

IIRC the C-Class also had a indicator on the dash to signal that the passenger air bag is off. Don't know where you had to switch it off from.

P.S. I'm talking about the first version launched in India i.e. the pre-facelift model.

I can back up akshay1234 on that one: many of the cars with passenger airbags that I have seen in UK (perhaps all, but I couldn't state that for sure) have a switch to take out that airbag.

Some older cars may not have. It took some time to discover that a certain combination of child, child seat of particular kind, and air bag, could be spectacularly lethal.

To clear the confusion..

In the passat that is just a light which comes on when a passenger is sitting on the seat and he has not used the seat belt. Its a safety feature.

In the Audi too there is a switch in the glove box which you can use the key to switch the passenger air bag off. Also was in the octavia..

In the W211 E class there is a switch to dissable the passenger side airbag. Thats basically when you use the ISOFIX child seat and dont want the airbag to deploy..

Cheerss
