Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II-46,000 kms Update Pag

2500 is double the amount that me and a lot of other bhpians have paid. This guy is fleecing you. I suggest you utilise the time by contacting Maruti and complaining.

Nothing recommended, but if you go strictly by the book and do not indulge in any additives, decarb etc then ideally the 3rd service should be this +- 10% of this:

Engine Oil 650
Filter 375
Paid Service 750 (it might be up to 900)
WA + B 500
EGR Cleaning 1250

You are definitely being overcharged in EGR cleaning

Okay got the car back. Bill details:

Clip(gray) : 18
Clip: 11
Element Oil filter : 331
Clip Cowl Top Garnish : 10
Engine Oil 15w40 Swift Diesel : 778

Paid Service : 950
Disk Break Cleaning : 300
Other valve Mechanism : 2000
Consumable Check\Replacement : 100

VAT : 155
Service Tax : 335
Cess : 10

Total Paid : 4999

Questioned customer care executive about 2500 Rs EGR cleaning and after discussion she had with their manager "Allowed Discount" of 500/- Rs. Still robbed of about 500-750, may be time to change MASS next time.

Just few thoughts

- The two SAs I met there was unaware about, so called EGR cleaning
- If I was not in team-bhp and do not have lessons learned from peer bhipians, I would have done these things "When system failed and a warning light appears(quoting SA it self), or may be in 80-90K Kms.
- Neither I (read naive customer), nor MASS(SAs) follow standard procedure for each service. Who knows what all they do or what they do not in each paid service.

Well, after one year and 30K Kms, I am quite happy with performance and reliability of the car.

Guys, please suggest a "TRUSTABLE" MASS in bangalore. (PM me if that against rules)

Thanks EDDY for all the eye opening.

No way, it's a complete rip off! Any of my VDi's major service has never cost me in excess of 5.5K! The 40K service cost me around 5200 or so.

Did you check at Pratham Motors in ORR? I saw the cabin air filters advertisement in their customer waiting area when I was there for getting some issues attended to.

My 60K service

I did 60K service of my VDi at Mandovi Motors, JP Nagar.
When I picked up the car in the evening I have noticed in the bill that Diesel Filter was not changed. When I enquired the SA he has informed me there is no stock of Diesel Filter hence it is not changed. He has informed me that it has been cleaned hence I can run with that and get it changed in 65 K service (BTW these MASS are recommending 5K KMs or 6 months interval for service even though Manual suggests 10K KMs and 1 year interval)

Here are my Qs.

1) I wanted to know from you folks that is it ok to run without changing the Diesel Filter?

2) Other issue they have told me is that there is suspension noise n my car and it might required to change the suspension bushes may be in the next service. This will cost approx 5-6K and this is not covered under warranty (I have bought 4 years/80K Kms warranty).
Is it normal for Swift to have worn out suspension bushes in 60K Kms?

1- Yes, its ok for another 5k kms. But make sure you don't pay any labour charges when you get it changed. That should have been a part of the service.
The service interval is 10k. Dealer is trying to male some money by recommending a 5k interval. But please note that some people like me change the oil every 5k kms, but we do not pay the complete service expenses for this.

2- Bushes are covered only till 60k. Press for a warranty replacement asap.

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II-46,000 kms Update Pag

I had first breakdown of the car today. The car has clocked 62k km and was last serviced on 58k km. Started the car in the morning, let it idle for 5-7 minutes, after driving for 2 km, I stopped on red light and turned off the Ignition.
Once I tuned the Ignition on again the Service light and water in diesel turned on. Diesel light goes off after 3 seconds but once the car is started, it turns on.
I waited there for 2 mins, again tried to switch off and switch on the car, once the car started without any lights, I switched it off to recheck, whether everything is fine now, again the lights come on. I decided to park the car at friend’s residence and we drove in his car.

Any pointers for the possible reason for this situation?

Is it safe to drive with car with service and water in diesel light on? The MASS is around 5 km from my place or I should call them to take the car? The car turns on normally and drives around normally.

You are right. I have read the extended warranty manual it says it is covered till 60 K KMs. After reading spoke to the SA of Mandovi, he said it will be covered if it is a manufacturing defect, this is a normal wear and tear and Maruti does not replace this under warranty. He has mentioned if it was not a normal wear and tear, he would have replaced it himself without any issue. This will not be accepted by Maruti hence he is not replacinng as per the SA.

Folks, please advice
