I bought the filter from Amazon India. The part no is 33-2361. I got it at a special price of Rs. 5471. ![]() ![]() ![]() My existing Paper Air Filter was in fair condition. It had been used for about 14,000 kms. After installation of the K&N filter I have managed a small 5 kms drive. My initial impressions are as follows: 1. The engine is much smoother. 2. The engine is breathing freely at low rpms, whereas it used to be asthmatic. 3. The low end torque has improved. There was a flat spot till 1500 rpm with the paper filter. That has gone now. 4. Idling speed has now dropped to 620 rpm without a/c and 670 rpm with a/c. 5. On a flat road with no accelerator input and the a/c off, the engine starts pulling at 600rpm when slotted in drive. It is 650 rpm with a/c on. 6. When one stomps on the accelerator the engine pushes forward with a wall of torque, much more like a diesel. 7. And most important --- fuel economy has increased from 7 to 8. That is a 14% increase. I will drive for another 100 kms before forming a final opinion on the fuel economy. The filter came pre-oiled. I plan to apply some oil every 4 months. And clean it once a year or after extreme dusty use. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() My GV is due for an Oil Change. Should I change to fully synthetic now or continue on the existing mineral oil? A semi Synth, considering that the GV is now at 85000 kms. Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 or Mobil 1 0w40? Thanks. |

Is 85000 too late to switch? Will there be any leaks etc as I change from mineral to synth now or should I go for semi synth and change to fully synth at next change? If i stick to mineral and continue as per past, then what is recommended? Last edited by wanderernomad : 15th October 2018 at 18:02. |

I immediately changed to Shell 5W40 at 74700 kms. And I did a second change of oil last year. So the Engine now has full synthetic oil running thru its lines. Full synthetic definitely helps in smoothing out the engine. 2 months ago I added Nulon E25 additive. It has really smoothened the engine. So it is never too late to switch. I would also highly recommend the Iridium Spark Plugs. Regarding leaks, normally the tappet cover gasket starts leaking at this vintage. Also there are o-rings to seal each of the spark plug tubes. Both of these are normally in short supply in the MASS parts system. So you may want may want to proactively order these parts and change them before going in for the oik and sparks plugs change. Can I add Nulon E25 with my regular mineral or semi synth oil as well? Last edited by khan_sultan : 4th February 2019 at 09:04. Reason: edited quoted post for better readability |

| ![]() Hi all Over time driving over rough roads, the Small plastic locks on the inside of the Spare Wheel Cover have broken off. It is slightly loose and I fear that in one of the trips over bad roads it might just fall off. Removing the cover all-together is an option, but the painter painted it beautifully and it looks new from the outside so I do want to keep it if possible. The locks which go inside the two rectangular holes on the top (Under the line line markings for alignment, at 30 degrees either side of the top) are not there. The latch at the bottom is fine. I am thinking of ideas to fix some kind of replacement locks on the inside of the cover for the top two slots under the line markings. I was thinking of either pasting with superglue or screwing with small screws small clip like metal / plastic protrusions on the inside of the cover to go into the slots and hold it in place. Any idea on what is the material of the cover ? Is it plastic or fibreglass ? Any ideas on how this can be fixed. Also the key-lock which goes on one of the nuts for the spare wheel is missing. Is this a standard for all vehicles with rear door mounted spare wheels ? How could I get hold of one. Styler Last edited by Styler : 16th October 2018 at 16:03. |

I think the material of spare wheel cover would crack, if screws are drilled in it. am thinking of using some kind of clamps to hold it. The part number for Lock nut is Part No: 83900-76820 Name: KEY ASSY SPARE TIRE NUT LOCK Price: Rs. 2007

We just fixed small L shaped metal pieces at the place where the plastic locks at broken. My denter simply heated the metal pieces with the welding torch and then pressed them as they melted the material of the cover and got stuck. Then he covered it with melted fibre to make it stronger. We have fixed the Cover with these metal locks in place and it seems to be holding good for now. Styler

Finally I had to cut off the lock with a grinding wheel and some burning with a welding rod. Rather than risk a similar problem I have used a couple of M12x1.25 safety nuts on the wheel. I ordered them from Aliexpress.

| ![]() Here you go. The Part of the Metal with Circle holes was heated and embedded inside the Fibre / Plastic of the cover so you don't see it. The strips were a little too long so they were bent on the end which goes into the slot, although it is not really required. This is the top of the Cover. The Metal locks are fixed on the inside of the 2 guide lines on the outside for alignment. I think with 2 of these metal locks going into the slots at the top and the latch at the bottom, the cover will hold now. Styler Last edited by Styler : 17th October 2018 at 16:21. |

| ![]() The GV battery is conked, not surprising since the car has been parked and not getting any running last few weeks. Guess battery was old too. Don't have the manual with me right now, anyone has it handy? Need to check what AH is the OE for 2.4 later. Battery bhai shows 45 AH but I think its lesser. |
