Well, as long as you dont dunk the car in water to clean it- its ok. In the 1.6- the ECU is beind the battery. In the 1.2 its in the back of the engine bay. If you are washing the car, its ok, IF you are getting the engine bay washed, then it is advisable to cover the ecu and the intake with plastic as a safety measure.

JishD, just tested while coming to the office and found that it does 100 kmph @ 2800 rpm in 5th gear. Did not try on 4th gear so can not say.

Fantastic Choice dude......palio sports is a better choice. Glad you didn't go for some boring hatches.

Sorry for the mishap, But surely you learnt a lot during this, I am sure.

So much you/insurance company end up paying for whole repair ?

Great suggestion on engine/layout.

Cheers

Just saw that your OTR is mentioned as 4.35L. HOw did you manage that. I guess the Showroom Price itself is something like 4.37L!!! ASking since one of my friends is looking at buying one. Wanted to know if you got such huge cash discounts.

Ex-Showroom price in Delhi/Gurgoan was 4.31L. They charged rest of the amount for Extended Warranty. Scheme of 25,000 cash discount was going on at that time. So, my insurance and registration + road tax were taken care by discounts.

On a lighter note, received a call from the workshop asking if I am satisfied with the work and how many marks would I give them out of 10 if there is a feedback call from Tata Motors! Looks like they are really playing safe with me after having been bitten by my feedback earlier
The rpm at 100 kph should be somewhere around 2700, given that it does 80 kph @ 2200 rpm.

7800 kms update. Second service.

Yesterday car had undergone 2nd free service.

Engine Oil (Castrol GTX 20W40) - 600.00/-
Oil Filter - 79.11/-
Fuel Filter - 126.22/-
Battery Acid Water - 17.50/-
Bardahl Engine oil additive - 444.44/-

Total - 1426.00/-

Windshield washer motor has conked off and they have ordered it. It will be replaced under warranty when part arrives. There were no other issues that I felt. It is again driving like it has just come out of showroom. Overall a satisfying experience with Dhingras this time too.

ORVM Broke Again: A fortnight ago, one Honda City banged my right ORVM when he was overtaking a cycle rickshaw and came into my lane from opposite side. This time I did not go to any authorised workshop and searched around in Gurgaon and at last found the glass for 150/- only. I have already asked that guy to bring a couple of glasses for me that I can keep in spare.

Congrats on your choice of the car. I'm sure you're enjoying the ride.

Hey code, if your battery is working fine, it is not at all recommended to put water or acid in the name of top-up. without all these, it would serve your car for about 5 years at least. But if you allow the service guys to top it up on every service, the life of the battery will surely be reduced. In my Zen-D, the battery ran for about 6 years trouble free, until a service guy topped it up, and within next 2 weeks, one of the cells was dead.

Ahh.. yes, and Fiat recommends some other brand that I am not able to recall.

I did not question anything as I was in a hurry and had to rush to the hospital.

Even I am not sure what does Bardahl additive does...
