took it to the tasc for its 35K service.

problems: coolant leakage issue still not fixed : SA claims something else was loose, is fixed now
some sort of oil leaking from the LHS underbody: some joint/seal in the transaxle was busted, replaced
vibrations at cold start : glow plugs and wires check out okay. they've no idea why. Have asked them to keep it overnight & try today morning

despite the free service voucher from the tata gold club, it will come to around 4k :|

got a few friends to drive it up here.
Arrived in less than stellar condition. Dust all over and inside (My Immaculate interiors - a lifetime of pampering laid to waste)
two bent rims! (one permanently damaged :( )
cosmetic damage to the rear bumper
car pulling to one side ?
suspension etc needs to be looked at
horn switch ( aftermarket one added to toggle between stock and hella) dead. currently stuck at hella
tyres are in bad shape. cant afford a new set right now :(

A major service is due. Need to wait for my education loan to come through!

Damn.

Who contributed all this damage? Your folks or the people who drove it down?

my friends. they were short of time, and the roads at some places were spectacularly bad, and they said my Headlight was awful, and they were effectively driving blind, and fell into so many holes. to their credit, they covered around 2K Kms in less than 2 days

Re: Tata Indica DLG turbo 8,000K report (Update : 30,000 report on Pg 18)

and to add injury to insult, guess what decided to show up, the Check Engine Light
And then there is the small matter of the cracked belt cover. The car has been grounded until the next service

just back from a visit to swapna motors. language gaps apart, the initial impressions seem to be decent, apart from a shocking 15k estimate. no extended warranty claims would be entertained it seems

Greenie, what are the action items as part of their 15k estimate?

Re: Tata Indica DLG turbo 8,000K report (Update : 30,000 report on Pg 18)

meh, turns out to be a classic case of tata worst case estimation. can't complain. they said the FICD and the Sensor dont need to be replaced for the time being, so should be okay.
The bill amount is suspiciously close to 7999 .
On the plus side, got along pretty well with the TASC here . The service advisor was very courteous. I observed the roles here are different as compared to kulathunkal.
In kulathunkal, the SA is the single point of contact. He checks out the car and prepares the checklist, talks to the customer, goes for the trial and test drive, and delivers the car, and they tend to be guys my age. Here, there were a few SA's, and the SA who attended to me was middle aged dude. The security here did the checklist, the SA talked to me and sent me with a mech for the initial and final test drive. He also had no qualms taking me into the service area.
The car is back to working condition, though there is a funny noise. Can't quite put my finger on it, and the language barrier is also a problem. Exceeded my traditionally low expectations
PFA the bill. Pardon the crappy camphone shots. dont have a scanner

Nice figure 7999. My recent service cost me apprx 20k at 50,000 km. And changed 4 tires another 15k. Still the car is pulling sideways. There are still some what major items nearing the end of lifespan. As I mentioned early 'more car per car' more car means more maintenance.

Vaishakh, isn't 20k too much for a 50,000km service? One would expect that more around 75,000 km. Were there any major replacements?

Major things were the clutch assembly, two CV joints, alternator pulley and some more small parts.

had the wheels straightened out ( one rim is pretty well damaged, the dude said to use it only as a spare)
After alignment, the vibrations are gone again - I had told the buggers at the TASC and they said they had aligned it.

Waxed the interiors and washed the outside. Car feels a lot better now

Re: Tata Indica DLG turbo 8,000K report (Update : 30,000 report on Pg 18)

time for the 40k service

issues
Lots of weird engine noises
leak in the rear (every night after a rain, there is a pool of water in the sub)
Headlight adjustment
I've given up on the lack of grunt beyond 80kmph
plus the regular 40k service.
Lets see

thankfully the car is back to its former self. the roughness was due to some timing issues which have been taken care of. I'm ecstatic.

Additionally the battery was changed a few weeks earlier. this brings my maintenence total for this year to 23k
