Take it to Focus Motors . They seem to me more customer friendly.

Unable to reproduce. SA said might have been caused by dirt or something interfering with the sensors
Quote:
2. jerking in second gear
Claimed to be cured by SA. Kinda reduced. Had a TD with the SA, he said what i claimed was just because i was upshifting too early. this appears to be a common issue with indicas, as per the TIUG, so let it slide

Not fixed. They didnt have it in stock
Quote:
4. dead bulb in stop lamp LHS
Replaced
Quote:

struck off the list since if they have to remove the door pads, they'd have to remove the speakers ( which are stuck to the pads with foam tape to prevent vibration )
Quote:
6. rattling wheel jack ( rubber band change?)
rubber band appears to have been changed. need to drive over a few bad roads to check
Quote:
7. dead HVAC knob ( happens every time)
not fixed, apparently HVAC guy is not available. will be fixed sometime later this week
Quote:
8. fan belt noise
alternator belt actually. Changed
Quote:
9. Change coolant ( was not done at 20k service)
SA claimed that this was probably done at the 20k service and not billed.
Quote:
10. check engine bolts/washers - there was leakage from one of the bolts in the head
Retorqued, no way to verify
Quote:
11. brake fluid change (been 2 years)
SA claimed it quite unecessary, wait till 40,000k. brakes work fine now, let it be Will this cause an issue at a later date?
Quote:
12. transaxle oil change ? (2 years)
done
Quote:
13. check suspension - seems to have become worse
no actionable items, seems nothing was done. it still seems the same

I'm lazybones remember, too far to take there, and getting transport to and from. this seems kinda fine. Delvac MX wasnt as great as advertised here from my experience. tried GTX diesel from their for the first time. MRP is the shocker though.

checked at a genuine parts dealer. they matched the TASC quote (1.7k). This is for the 2007 onwards style tail lamp ( with the stripes)

And without much further ado, here's the bill
Tata Indica DLG Turbo. EDIT: 15 years & 114k km up-bill.jpg

List of action items for the follow up service sometime next week
1. fix HVAC knob
2. Replace LHS taillamp
3. add LED parking lamps I'll be getting this weekend
4. fix hatch door sensor switch.
5. Fix Wiper Alignment ( Need to get Bosch wipers before that)

Wheel alignment and balancing of the spare ( had tube changed recently) to be done over the weekend from elsewhere.
The service advisor (Nisanth) was quite friendly and honest ( something very hard to find at a TASC) he gave me a proper estimate, in terms of cash and time, told me in advance halfway what would have to be postponed, and there were no nasty surprises while taking delivery. I think I'll stick with him for the next service

It seems They've used Transpower TQ gearbox oil

As per Tata Motors Customer Care :: Recommended Products

Castrol Extreme Pressure 80 EP should be used. the Transpower TQ is recommended
for sumo etc.
Apparently, using EP oil in a gearbox for which EP is not specified can cause
corrosion. Not too sure about the other way round.

Had to pay an emergency visit to the TASC today. They had left my "loud" horn disconnected - found out only after i tried to use it to shoo away an idiot biker. Got it reconnected, but in a very makeshift sort of way ( wire twisted onto a 30A fuse)

Checked with the SA and he claims that the oil specs change over time. I have a strong feeling that they just use what they have around. Searching for transpower TQ yields no results than the Indica manuals where it is recommended for the steering (!) ,the sumo spacio Transmission, the bill of a Xeta service at carwale , and someone's 40K service at TIUG. No mention of it on the castrol site or elsewhere.

Either way, I'll be changing it at 40,000k, so I imagine I'll have to put up with it. Tata customer support seems to be ignoring my mails these days

For me, the jerking in second gear happens when after change to 2nd, the RPM is in the 1100 range. If it is around 1250, it never happens.

Have hardly seen this jerking when my driver drives!

same here.

Just curious, at what RPM in first should I shift to 2nd so that it falls in 1200 rpm after the shift

got hold of Bosch wipers. cost 310. the showroom had a demo of their horns. sounded nice.they had that "authoritative" sound, like those govt ambassadors

they offered to fit it for free, and a free checkup for the electricals. I was in a hurry, and too paranoid of altruism exhibited by people with commercial interests,so declined

Missed this!

I will have to check as I don't actually look at the RPM before shifting, more by habit. Mostly I don't cross 2000.

Next time I take the Marina out, I will check and get back.

Yup. he said they were doing some sort of electricals checkup - there was an accent there with the hood up and some mech fiddling with the battery.

the shopkeeper guy said that they were doing this as a value added service.

I cant imagine them charging to fit the wipers. It's so easy!

swerved to avoid hitting a rogue alto guy, and got rear ended by a KSRTC super fast .
car was almost totalled. Thanks to gods grace, nothing happened to me or dad. The bus would have pushed us into a ditch, and it could have been much worse, but I somehow managed to recover control.

The Reg of the Alto is KL 01 AR 5249. Since he was not actually involved in the accident, and since escaped from the scene, we can't do anything about him. Seems to be someone working in the kazhakkutom KSEB power station. I wish he gets the fate he deserves soon enough.

rear hatch door, floor, side panels, right rear door, roof, bumper, taillamps are all gone.
This is going to be expensive
