anekho, its a bit complicated.
till late 2005, all models - DLE, DLS, DLG, DLX were all running the NA engine. In late 2005, the turbo was launched, and it was made standard on the DLX and the DLG and optional on the DLS variants ( yes there was a DLS turbo, but it had a less powerful engine than the DLG and the DLX since it lacked an intercooler) this went on till end of 2007.Somewhere along the line, Airbags/ABS was added as an option to the DLX turbo. In 2008, the dicor was launched in DLG and DLS variants alongside the turbo variants. the DLS dicor had the same engine as the DLG dicor. All these variants were stopped towards end 2008 when the indica vista was launched. now only the DLE and DLS remain

so, to answer you question
1. My DLG has is a turbo, but there are NA and Dicor DLG's
2. The DLS available now, and most DLS's are NA, but there are DLS turbo and Dicor's

I hope I didnt confuse you :)

appreciate your effort greenhorn - i'll buy a santro instead :D

just kidding, hopefully i'll be picking up a indica diesel with turbo (second hand) soon enough.

Your thread has been a source of inspiration - thanks.

btw, how's your car doing after the crash? is the paint thing sorted out?

we bought an indica v2 DLG turbo in april 2006 for my folks in chennai. paid about 4.5 odd lacs at the time.
it is an excellent car. powerful engine - a little less refined than the turbo Dicor engine but excellent all the same.
it is inexpensive to maintain and run, powerful, comfortable, tough and spacious, pretty fuel efficient and easy to pilot around the city and park too. came with front power windows, ac heater etc as standard and 14 inch wheels (no alloys).
my dad likes the car a lot and frankly whenever Ive driven it, so do I.
it has just done about 25000 kms as of 2 weeks ago and has served us well in this time. it is a humble car but a good one. we are happy we bought it.
perhaps all going well, we will consider an upgrade sometime next year possibly to the vista quadrajet or something.

Presenting the fabulous (and did I mention free lol:) paintjob courtesy Kulathunkal. To be fair to them, they did a good job of the exteriors, and they say they are going to fix this, but lets see.

In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the additional resale my car has lost due to the ruined interiors ( if having an accident wasn't bad enough)

That's indeed a lousy mistake to make, Greenhorn. Really nice to see you have a humorous outlook towards this paint mishap.

Ok, to evaluate the whole experience.

Timeliness - they asked for 1.5 months, delivered in 1.5 months. full marks there. I'm okay with an extended period as long as they do it right
Quality of work - Bodywork, exterior paint quality is all good. very happy with it. Even the rear wiper assembly was fitted with the original switchgear. full marks here

minus points - the carelessness in the paintjob elewhere. I doubt if you can unscrew a paint on plastic.

One of the indicators was not working - they fixed that there itself

things pending -
Right passenger interior lock not working
Centre High mounted stop lamp not working
Fuel filler flap not opening

and of course bad paint job which they will take care of. lets see. Unfortunately, they haven't given me much cause for optimism yet.

Can't blame Tata for the painter's mistake though. :D

Why not? Their A.S.S, their painter. So why not blame Tata? :D

Wow, your Indica cab should be among the costliest Tata made :)

And what do you mean by 'Even the rear wiper assembly was fitted with the original switchgear ' ? I saw similar stuff in the bill.

When i asked them to fit the wiper, i thought they'd just fit the wiper + the motor and use some random switch (like the one that is used to toggle my horn) to turn it on and off.
Instead, they used the two extra switches on the dashboard, - the OE ones from the DLX, plus hooked it up to the wash tank so that the wash+wipe works , and i think they have upgraded the wash tank to the 4.5L one (not sure about that bit )

I'm going to give it today with the following list of issues they hadnt solved/added during the last service

Current Issues

1. Fuel tank Remote release not working
2. Center High Mounted Stop Lamp not working
3. Right Passenger Door Lock not working
4. Rear bracket not mounted properly - Screws missing, making noise
5. Irregular/Damaged finish of dashboard, AC vents and Console switches
6. HVAC Knob not working

Unwanted Paint on

1. Dashboard
2. Center console
3. Gear lever
4. power window switches
5. Door pads
6. Interior Door lock handles
7. Front fog lamp
8. Rear Window glass

lets see how good they do. I just hope they don't make anything worse:Frustrati

Ugh, can't live with 'em, can't live without. Good luck again greenie.

they've asked for 4 days. 2 to do the interiors, 2 for a scheduled " teflon coating" and interior wash and the issue with the HVAC switch. 2 for the interior restoration + other complaints.( apparently the first part is done by regular service, and second part by claims & accident repair folks, and they work on seperate timelines)

Aww nuts. I forgot to remove the MPR 999 when i gave it for service. Called up both SA's - hope at least one of them remembers:Frustrati

I suggest actually going there and getting it.
