Re: HM Ambassador - At 45th year. Reincarnation process in progress.

Rudra is busy at work, so it was my turn to make a visit to Gopal's. Work is progressing steadily. The front frame area is almost complete, mud guards were being aligned when i arrived. As usual metal paste scraping coz old man does not believe in it for getting the shape right. Bare the metal and then tap all the pieces to shape.

Insides have been stripped especially the firewall area is just bare metal and one can see the nastiness of rust.

Door also has lil bit of rust coming up

Firewall and engine bay is getting into shape. Loads of metal paste here also, that had to be removed. The right side fender needed some work to correct the 87 impact. Shock mount had to be redone etc. Front frame is almost complete.

Finally the power steering goodies have come, all woriginal HM stuff and i was quite impressed by the quality of stuff. Its not that typical AMBY of old era QC. Worth the paisa paid i guess

The front end correction now, fit> remove it> tap it> cut it> align it> refit it > on loop Ol man at his obsessive best.

Look at the lines on front right mud guard edges, with the bonnet. Its 60% there according to Gopal.

Oh, ok. I was little worried you know. Hope to see a proper progress this weekend.
Power steering can only be fitted after they're through with
Front alignment. Anyway.. Better late than never.

Shubz, thanks a lot. Looks like I'll have a long time in the workshop on Saturday. I think they've already started working on the floor/platform area.

Re: HM Ambassador - At 45th year. Reincarnation process in progress.

I tell you these two ol men are a bad combination and am sure Gopal learning Hindi (more and more he communicates direct with Rudra) is becoming a problem But yes i feel steering and engine mount will be ready by next week and platform in a week or two. Then the painting action starts.

Already Gopal has set his expectations clear with Sai Colorium

Re: HM Ambassador - At 45th year. Reincarnation process in progress.

Power steering box positioned. Engine mount has to come down an inch more to make space for later repair/service etc.

Original steering's connecting arms are longer than the power steering unit. Positioning process is on with rough alignment thread in place..

Yeah, I went there in the afternoon and stayed till 5.30. Yes, he's using those arms. Took some time to remove those old stabiliser bar mount points. According to Gopal, car will have a better turning radius now.

Re: HM Ambassador - At 45th year. Reincarnation process in progress.

Hello Mr.Rudra,
I have fitted power steering before 6 months. In ISUZU the pump will be positioned in the top (near the Timing belt) area. After i am driving almost 3000 odd kms ,the clamp on which the pump was fitted was broken, while am driving.Suddenly steering felt tight, since the belt got loose.

The amount of power which was produced is very high for the pump rotation.Keep an eye on this area.nice to see an Amby altered.
Thanks.

Re: HM Ambassador - At 45th year. Reincarnation process in progress.

And also what plans do you have to reduce the heat and noise inside the cabin.
My Upholstery guy was telling about some sheets, which control the heat and noise.
But is it really useful for ambys, whether it will control the noise and heat. Also kindly update the neccessary things what we can do to stop the noise and heat.

Is that a manufacturing problem or a fitting issue? Unit is from HM?

Could you please elaborate little more on this?

No plans except 3M or Wruth rubber coating. Rubber coating for both exterior/interior. Interior coating will extend up to firewall.

I don't know of any such products. Mine is a petrol unit and it's not noisy at all. Under bonnet should have some sound deadening material. I don't know what exactly it's called. Mechanic Gopal wants to use it. I'll let you know once I know.

Re: HM Ambassador - At 45th year. Reincarnation process in progress.

Lets add thin aluminum deflector on the outside area, firewall and exhaust to reduce the heat radiation
