Very good but harder than Bridges I guess or maybe I have wrong air pressure , 30 at front and 33 at rear. I can take tighter turns at higher speeds. Quote:

:Can squeeze through real tight spots.
:Just floor pedal and it surges forward than most cars of that segment. :Wheel spins in 1st gear very easily.
: Built quality is great.
Safari:
:5 sits comfortably, XL size even I guess. This doesnt include people sitting in the jump seats.
:AC is chilling when the over head blower on.
:It indeed can be squeezed to tight spots. I am more confident now and I am very happy over the confidence the ride quality it gives.
:I am yet to take high speed turns but didnt have any issue when I took the same turn at 80kmph that I could so 100kmph on my Xing. A note here; I had Potenza 175s on my Xing.
//Yoko Geolander inspires confidence but its tad hard, maybe too much nitrogen, 30 at front and 33 at back.
:Body role is of course there but not like one complains. I think its those who does small test drives and do very high speed manuvering who feels this. This can be eliminated once you get used to the beast.
:First gear is short. Careful with second and it easily goes over 2k rpm. I am yet to utilze the power delivery of this as I am still in the running in period.
//have issues with gear now and then, TASS recommends that I change clutch. Odo at 48900kms.
:I am yet to do wheel spins and I donno if its a safe thing to do from engine prospective.
//I have done wheel spins and sort.
: The child locks are a bit loose. Rear door had to be opened from outside once as the lock was set automatically. Maybe the jolt at closing the door made it happen. | Impression after 3 days! Things in // are from 49500kms experience. Quote:

Safari:
: Should I say anything about its seats? EX and VX gets height adjustable ones and I think for EX its just for driver. Great thing.
: Lumbar support is feature is great! Would this be costly to add?
: Mahout
: By default you hand gets the height adjuster. You need to practice where the other lever is for adjusting the incline.

Issues:
1) A sound like bird chirping from either left door or boot gate when you drive through very bad road. Should be a beading issue I guess.
2) Child lock for rear left door goes back to "lock" position now and then when you close door as its a bit loose.
3) The problem with engaging 1st and reverse when the Safari is cold, ie,in the morning or after long parking gaps of 3-4 hours.
And I count till 30sec most of the time to switch off engine or to drive off after starting up. This time can go up up to 1min in the morn. | 27th March 2008, 12 th day of owning and the issues.
The bird chirping = squeak from tail gate; still there, comes and goes but I found the solution. Keep a thick paper between the tail gate and the black rubber/metal pad. Note: I follow the 30sec to 1min plus rule to be on the safe side. Quote:

The issue with child lock and the chirpy sound was sorted out.
The Safari also got under body coating and a wax coat. Also got light tints done. All these were free from Kulathungal Motors.
Bought carpets from rexin shop! Felt it would do the job well in rainy and dry season. Will post pix of these later. Had to buy 3 meters x 2 feet in total. | April 1st 2008. Odo @ 1500plus Quote:

2) You get it in size you want and hence was able to fit it perfectly and hence covers 95% of floor area.
3) Washable.
4) Doesnt stink if wet as base is rubber and hence will contain/keep water in it without spilling it on to carpet. |

I tried System D and I may have gained .25 or so . I discontinued using it I found the manufacturing date a bit old and the engine made a harsh noise when I accelerate fast. The noise is still there and my dealer want me to bring it for a check up as he hasnt come across this sound before. | How I drive. Quote:

Engine: The krr noise is there from 1800-2100 rpm. Noticed that its only in 3rd and its just for 2000-2100 rpm when in 4th.
Interiors: Because its beige, I am worried and hence its 100% AC full time and hence I guess the interiors are still neat.
Rattle: A bit which I guess is coz I play the music tad loud and it caused some plastic to rattle within the door.
There is a chirpy sound due to either tail gate or co-driver seat when its not used. | Quote:

1) asked not to change oil as I had changed it at 42000
2) fix the krr krr ! I drove a new Safari two weeks back and it was s m o o t h !
3) Squeaking noise when I brake. No marks for guessing; SA called up and said I need to get new brake pads. 3.5k or so
4) Tail door squeak.
I said I will take the Safari only tomorrow eve as I wanted them to fix the krr krr.

Costed 4300Rs almost. There was some steering play which was fixed. They also changed some bushes for idler arms or so Quote: 30th August 2009 Odo @ 45678 kilometers! 533 days! Changed tyres to Yokohama Geolander ATS 235/70 R16 at 5800Rs/tyre. Also filled it up with Nitrogen in all four tyres. I am pretty happy with the service/dealings of Speed Tyres, Cochin. I also got a Yoko T-shirt free.
| Issues till date
1)Squeaky tail door now which I now know how to fix
2)Krr krrr, coz of EGR as I had pointed out before and I think from Dadu’s experience it will be fixed if I can get the 90mm EGR
3)No turbo effect twice or so ; which I think was coz of loose battery terminals. This was during a highway trip and I am sure there was no turbo, no krr krr nosie and it wont go 100kmph plus and no turbo kick
4)Have issues with gear , think I fried the clutch. May need to change it soon.
5)Some noise from front or slight alignment issue was found during tyre change. Will fix it after two weeks.
What I miss? 4x4 and wider tyres. !Newer 2.2L are way refined and GX is a great buy. I intend to complete 50000 before this weekend. |
