I already have 90/100W, 100/130 will be too much right?

Will check about the fogs; will revert to 55W after a week's run I guess :(

If you are comfortable with 90/100 on your headlamps, then stick to that. Suggest you go for aux lights, like Riju. This way you will have an extra pair than depending on just the head lamps.

Odo @ 68600Kms or so

Last tank fill calculation showed that I got 11.3kmpl.

I spend around 40k INR this year on my Safari. Now seems I 'may' have issues with the alternator; hope its just a small issue and wont be costly to rectify.

100/130 will surely damage your reflectors over a period(6-8 months) of time. Not worth it. If you need more light than 90/100, go for HIDs by Philips with a good K rating.

The FE still seems to be lesser than what HappyWheels gets. Wonder why... though he uses his truck in the city for short trips.

40K INR in one year? Do you have a break up of the same please?

100/130 - damage the glass rather than the relectors over a period of 3 years or so, after which time you would need to replace the light fixtures for a cost of about Rs. 6000.

100/130 give excellent light and are ideal.

100/130 will also burn out cheap cerramic holders, so they need to be fixed with addtional wiring harness with relay, fuse and high wattage holders provided for about Rs. 750, at the same place that you would get the bulbs - i.e. accessories shops.

Alternatively get a set of HID's with the associated wiring and save on the cost of replacing the headlight fixtures in 3 years time.

Regulator changed; AC Kaput ! 2.2L vs 3L AC study

So the culprit was the regulator; my garage guy is 6400Rs richer!

So I get my Safari home and enroute I find that AC doesn't work! I had to spend a whole day at workshop today to make sure I get it fixed asap so that I can go for a drive tomorrow along with parents.

The AC guy failed to find the leak but he confirmed condenser & sort are all fine! A big relief it was. They took ages to confirm that the leak wasnt from the pumping inside engine bay and pumping for overhead blower. It seems the leak should be from behind the dash (should be cooling coil issue) and he wanted more time to check it.

Learned few things. 2.2 vs 3

He says 3L gets bigger compressor same as what the Qualis has and this takes more gas and isnt efficient as the 2.2's .
He also said that 3L's puts more load on the engine than 2.2's.
2.2's AC system needs only less gas ( half of what 3L takes) but cools cabin faster.
2.2 gets the compressor of WagonR which is smallar than 3L's ! but more efficient coz of better design of cooling coil or so.

The gas leak was at the junction (near floor )from where the plumping goes up to the roof. Water from AC had corroded the plumping. I guess this was happening for sometime as now AC is super chill.

If I had Extended Warranty I would have saved a 4000Rs here ( Actually I would have saved 10k this month).

And I had issue with water leaking just above the accelerator. It too was sorted . There was lot of debris on the panel below the wipers and hence all the 3 drain holes were blocked.

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

@JKdas. Given that Tata charges only 6500 Rs for an extended warranty, it is a no brainer to take it. Anybody who keeps a Safari beyond the original warranty will definitely benefit from it.

Another oil change that should have happened at 67500kms but was delayed (odo @ 69700) .

Back to Delvac and wow! Smooth.

I was to use Cyclo from Pidilite but opted against it.

what cc are these three compressors ?

I dont think a Safari will use a compressor that a Wagon-R uses.

Maybe he related it to CC. Need to find right info. He was very sure that 3L used a bigger one ( as it needed more gas) though.

Amaron Hi-Way battery for Tata Safari 2.2L

Bought a new Amaron Hi-Way battery for 4500Rs (got almost 1000RS for old one). This was bought from the Amaron Trivandrum dealer.

Pix of old and new battery. Old one had 18 months warranty and the Hi-Way has 2 year.

Seeing the photograph of the new battery reminded me of one battery installation instruction that we quite often forget:

To get rid of the plasting sheet that it comes with while installing. I guess you did take care of it.

Did you upgrade the Light as you were thinking about a few months back?

Crossed 75.5k. Nothing to report. Might need a brake pad change soon.
