Thanks bj, Jaggu, pramod and suman.

Odo @ 40569 on 10-05-2009

Left my Safari at TASS last day for checking

1) metallic clang noise when going over bad roads/humps.
2) some sound from rear left seat side.
3) issue with braking at high speeds, pulls to a side
4) The tyre has said it has some camber issue so asked to do a alignment too.
5) air leak sound when one sits on co-driver's seat.

Was suppossed to get the Safari back today eve but got a call saying they found a broken nut which fits rear seat or so and since replacement is not there , they can fix it and give only tomorrow eve.

Very upset at the work done by Kulathukal motors at Bye-pass.

What I mailed them today

"Thanks to your intervention the brakes are back to normal now, pretty happy at that. Hope you remember that you has parked my Safari somewhere so the the guys can vacuum it? I waited till 6:15PM to see my Safari being parked safely at the customer delivery area. It wasnt vacuumed even. I had come with an issue by 3.30PM and I spend 3 hours at the service centre which wasnt needed if people were proactive or atleast careful on what they do.

1) I am so upset that your firm did a wash service without me asking for it
2) Did a very bad job at it
3) Even when my Safari was left with Kulathungal for two days!
4) And I was made to drive with bad braking which could have risked my life
5) Wasted my precious time and energy
6) And the lever which was supposed to be inside the car was thrown loose inside the boot !
"

After two days at TASS, they $crew up my braking. I had to pump or jab a lot to get an effective braking. This is scary at high speeds.

Thanks to the intervention of CRM Manager, Mr.Shyam, it was rectified ( they bled it,thats's all) . The joke the SA said about why there was less braking should go to the joke thread when I went there for complaining.

They charged 345Rs for wash ( which I hadnt asked) and my boot/sub box has lots of sand!

No, seems my odo read is big issue Too late for AMC.

Anyway driving it to Concorde tomorrow ( at Cochin ) , expecting Perumal @ Concorde to do magic for the 60K service. I might get get clutch/pressure plate kit replaced and/or whole suspension worked up. Expecting very big bill.

I too got the door work done, seems they forgot to mention it.

Drove for a 100kms

Drive is smoother, no jerks when I do sudden acceleration, I can putter around in 4 from 40kmph with no jerks or sort. I cruise at 80kmph with ease in 5th coz of the confidence it gives now that power is on tap far better than before.

My SA said mine got the time belt and works changed/done, the AC work was done so as to avoid water from dripping into cabin( rear overhead AC) and door work for; window to close correctly when you wind it up when you are doing high speeds ( to stop window popping ,that's the word he used).

The Safari stayed there for a day ( left it yesterday and bro picked it up today evening).

The bill says this:
  1. Starter Motor Solenoid Updation For 2.2L Safari Dicor (Retro Fit) : Free
  2. Safari 2.2L Dicor - AC Grommet Updation : Warranty
  3. Safari 2.2L Dicor - Condenser Fan Fuse Updation : Warranty
  4. Safari 2.2L Dicor - W/Regulator Updation : Warranty
  5. Safari 2.2L Dicor - ECU Cover Updation : Warranty
  6. Safari 2.2L Dicor - ECU Software Updation : Warranty
  7. Safari 2.2L Dicor - Timing KitA- B Updation : Warranty
  8. Safari 2.2L Dicor - Timing Kit - C Updation : Warranty
  9. Safari 2.2L Dicor - Timing Kit - D Updation : Warranty
Total cost was 0 Rs. I also got it washed for free and the front seats came packed in plastic covers, the one it comes in when you get a brand new Safari.

Is there a difference? YES ! drives different, smoother and more torque
Didnt drive is a way to check the change as I was late from office. Will update in a day or two about the change effect.

Issue? I DONT see an ECU Cover !
I also need help in finding if they have indeed changed/done the things said in 2,4,7,8,9 !

I was asked to, if interested, to take up the AMC before I hit the 15k mark.

Am trying to understand if it is value in taking the AMC. And they do deduct the extended warranty amount from the AMC premium.

Eg; there is an xyz AMC plan for 27k which is valid for 1,20,000kms in 5 years. If you take this, you dont need to pay for certain stuff that is replaced/changed during this period. I 'guess' oil etc during service also comes into this.

A Gold ( the top plan) also states battery warranty etc. Tata is yet to come out with a detailed plan. Plan for Indigo etc has been released.

The stupidity: You can buy one if odo read is 40k or so and/or your car is oldr than 431 days. This is as per the info I have.

My odo is at 40K and customer care tells me that I cannot buy AMC, its only for vehicles with less than 10K on their ODO!?
Can you give contact of some person who is giving the AMC?

They are not giving me AMC. My info is same as your info.

Just paid 16559 Rs for insurance ( Reliance one via Tata ) and hence I will get the Gold Membership Card.

If you contact Reliance directly , the insurance will cost 2000Rs less !
