Have seen the beauty yesterday evening at our usual meeting place. Seeing real close and and sitting inside the new 2.2 for the first time. The fit and finish, both interior and exterior, is now up to top standards. This partucular color is rocking and the wax job + servicing has given it a shiny look.

@ JK - thanks for taking her to us. Thanks for offering the steering for a drive, will do it after run in.

@ Sankar - do post your impressions.

JK,

been a long time, but better late than never!

congrats on the possession! she looks charming.

especially in the photo shoots on the hill / narrow road. Love these kind of narrow kerala road (minus the buses!)

happy driving and many miles of 'reclaiming'! :-)

and what happened to your 'other' photo shoot with the RTO? did anything happen or was it just a time-pass?

Sorry for the delay Jk, i usually skim through new posts. And didn't see your thread till i specifically searched for it.

First of all thanks for the test drive

Man the presence of this thing is just awesome. You drive into a parking lot and there's instant respect! Everyone moves away and you don't even have to honk.

As i started driving the vehicle i was expecting a turbo lag but was surprised to find the lack of a lag. It's perfectly drivable even before the turbo spools up at 1.8krpm, and throttle response is way better than what i expected keeping it under 2k rpm was difficult Once in the band man i liked the way it surges ahead... too bad i couldn't sample it beyond 2.5krpm.

The fit and finish on Tata vehicles have vastly improved.. or at least in the Safari miles ahead. Very nice.

There's some vibration creeping up on the clutch pedal when depressed, i don't knw if it's normal with all the Safaris. And also while changing gears after the engine crosses 1.8k rpm the revs don't fall as quickly, in other words while the clutch is depressed and foot of the throttle the revs still hold for some time. It might be normal with Safari, i don't know. Could someone tell if it's normal?

Thanks srijit. Welcome to TBHP

Guys, need an opinion.

I bought the OE alloys from Steeroid. I was thinking of getting them painted to black. What do you think?

The tyre gurus spoke! The aura site says they have the hyper black of this model and hence the idea.

I think I will get it chromed Need to call nikkibike and tell him tomorrow.

The OE alloy is 6.5J right ? And hence 255 will fit? Or is it a must that it should be 7J ?

Ewww....that's going to be even worse man. Chrome went out of style long ago, stick to normal painted silver please. The Pearl White is good enough for attention anyway.

Yes, bu 255's will do just fine. Steer himself was running this size on the stock alloys.

JK - do you want to try and get those alloys painted white? They need a paint job for sure, so why not make it white?

If you want a free tyre upgrade please check with v1p3r whether my Falkens are still lying in the garage. If yes, pick them up.
