Only Oil seems to have been changed is it all that a Honda engine needs ???
Oil changes are the most frequent, then come filter replacements and yet later are jobs such as valve adjustments, injector cleaning, throttle body cleaning / adjustment and so on.

I had compiled a list of tentative maintainence schedules of MPFi cars. Click here for more.

an update!

Hi,

> The point is that even for the 5000kms service where oil filter is not changed, > they have charged for 3.7L in my case and I expect the same in Wilful's case

During the recent 15000kms service, I raised this point and the service advisor claimed that they are using some software provided by Honda and so has to be the same everywhere and this is what is recommended.

I am not convinced. But I will need documentation.

@msdivy,

Is it possible for you to scan your 5000, 10000 and 15000kms service bills and put up the images here?

I should then be able to show it as documentation.

Oops, since when is this change ? Any chance for Civic owners to stick to good old mineral oils and stick to the 3 month service intervals ?

Hi folks,

I have completed my 20000kms service, the details are in the following post:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ml#post1044498

A few members have posted saying that for the 5000km series of services, they are charged 3.4l and for the others 3.6l of engine oil. I have been charged 3.7l uniformly. The dealer claims that ther cannot be discrepancies.

So if some kind folk could attach (here or in my thread) a scanned copy of the bills, I would be grateful. If they are recent and are of 15000 / 20000 kms service, it would be handy.

Any email ids for sending service related issues to Honda?

I have always thought that the oil filter has to be changed with every engine oil change. If Honda recommends that oil filter can be replaced every 10,000 kms does that mean i can continue using the same even if i change the oil for every 5000 KMS.

I would like some clarification on the same.My friend has a NHC and i recommended he change the oil filter along with the oil every 5000 kms.

Gurus can you please englighten this wrt to the Honda City.

thanks

Even I have been given to understand that the oil and filter have to be changed together. Anyway Honda has a different take.

For City they change oil every 5000 kms and oil filter at every 10000kms. The Civic the oil and filter is changed every 10000kms. The oil used is the same.

The oil very definitely should last for 10000kms at the least.

As somebody told me when I put this query, the oil filter is cheap enough to be changed voluntarily every 5000kms. That is one way to go else if it is outside warranty, change oil with filter only after 10000kms.

Re: NHC - Service Costs, etc

What are the side effects (on brake disc), if we continue to use brake pads which is due for replacement.

Re: NHC - Service Costs, etc

After being frustrated beyond limits by Prestige Honda, i have decided to get my services done from an independent garage. Can anyone tell me what grade oil is used in NHC. I believe they use Idemitsu which is made by Savita Chemicals in India. But i dont know the SAE viscosity, somewhere on the forum it says 10W-30 but can someone please confirm this? I think it will help lots of people as many are fed up of Honda Dealers.

Re: NHC - Service Costs, etc

I read somewhere below that the cost of 100ml engine oil was Rs 625 sometime in 2008. Now it costs around Rs. 1200 in Bangalore. And the synthetic oil costs a whopping Rs. 2400. + taxes

Thanks Twiny, but my NHC has run 50k KM on normal mineral oil from Honda A.S.S. I want to keep using mineral or semi-synth so the grading of mineral oil poured into NHC would be very useful.

Also looking at this pdf:
http://www.savita.com/pdf/idemitsu.pdf

It just shows one HONDA Genuine Oil which is 20W50 SJ! What is the correct oil spec?

That was a misinterpretation which was later corrected by the poster.
The complete oil change for NHC costs around Rs 630 + Rs 18 for drain bolt. I have verified this in many of my service bills (last service was in March 2011) . Synthetic oil would cost you around Rs 3500 for the complete change.

Re: NHC - Service Costs, etc

My NHC also has the issue of the driver side seat bet not retracting back. I have long ignored it, and its 3+ yrs now. I do have extended warranty for the 4th year.

Knowing Honda, they will only replace it. Any ideas how much does it cost?
And what are my chances of getting it covered under warranty?
