Guys please: let us not make this another PALIO vs SWIFT thread.

Enough has been discussed in other threads & everyone on this forum knows which is the best.
Cheers
cheers:

I still haven't got my car back.

eclectix 1st,
Are you sure you are getting the FP by this weekend? If you really get it then, I think the spares availability issue is improving. I had to wait for more than a month for Gear oil seal. But later found out that Concorde had never placed an order earlier. They had placed it much later and I got the part in 2 weeks after a lot of escalation. Just hoping that you need not go through the pain. Make sure that they have indeed placed the order.
Another issue is that they usually wait till they have a large consignment of spares to be delivered and then ship the required parts. Now, if your issue is not taken on priority, then you would get the FP with next shipment.

A week for FP for a Palio? God help Bravo and 500 owners then!

I made sure they placed the order on Monday morning itself. I've got the number also.

After I say your post I called the A_S_S for the status, The manager said something about getting the FP along with some other orders. Earlier they'd told me that the FP is on its way.

I've also raised the issue with the Fiat directly by e-mail. Am waiting for their response.

I understand the furstating problem. We had spare issues with Baleno ( described in detail at some other place ), and its really furstating to have car parked in service center for a part that should have been stocked.

But I really dont think that asking the service center to take out part from other car just for testing. If this is the behind the scene of Fiat service center, I am glad we didnt go for Petra ( under serious consideration in Oct 05 when we bought Baleno ).

I have also read that you would have allowed this to be done on your car for testing , but then many wont like that.

Hey, this is something that could have happened at any service centre. Let's not blame this on Fiat.

The issue with FIAT A.S.S. is they never stock spares.:Frustrati
The difference between FIAT and Ford Service is Ford stocks their spares. Lol!

Earlier in the day I was at Bimal on Whitefield RD to get the AC switch fixed in my old M800.

The issue of using parts from other cars came up.

Saar we do it occasionally for testing purpose, but we dont interchange the parts. its easier to use a part from the next car than fill in a requisition and run around the workshop.

Couple of years ago, Concorde offered a service vehicle for TD. My friend realised only after he saw the Indigo TD car with stickers. (after the TD)

I'm not taking a moral high ground. But it happens everywhere. No one talks about it or acknowledges it.

Now I know why the keychain cell of our Baleno suddenly went bad.
Once we gave baleno for service with one key and as it has keyless entry, the keychain was with them.As soon as we came back and tried to lock the car, we reliased that the keychain cell/battery has worned out. When we gave the car to Kiran Motors, it was OK.

OK now I understand the poor condition of cars even after going to Authorized service centers.

Looks like one day our goes for service and the next day after service, our cars will have a defective peice. I hope the entire cars are not interchanged.:Frustrati

Eclectix dude - I am extremely sorry for what happened with you. But my only point was that it can happen to any earthly car including my swift. But the Palio is most certainly not a heavenly body. If it was was it would be not be down here but circling the earth in orbit.

And I totally understand the frustration of pushing a vehicle out of the way on a loaded traffic junction. I myself had to do it once with my esteem. Sorry for going OT on your thread.

Look at the silver lining.

Many times companies refuse warranty on FP saying bad fuel is culprit.
TATA-Fiat have not caused you any heartburn on this.

The warranty replacement promptness of Tata is the best among Hyundai/Maruti etc., if the parts availability of FIAT becomes as common as Tata, it will be great. But I hope, with that the parts quality of FIAT does not become the same as parts quality of TATA.

On this Fuel Pump thing, I have had the same issue ocurring many times on my Ikon 1.6. The car would simply die. Although it would blow the ECU fuse. Generally replacing with a spare always worked to get it to the workshop. On one occasion it actually died on me when I was doing a very high speed on the AJC road Flyover (which has only 2 lanes and one entry and one exit point and is around 3 kms long). Luckily I was able to maintain the momentum, till I descended from the flyover and was lucky enough to find a green signal after it to cross it while coasting.

Now on the last occasion the workshop did not have a fuel pump in stock and I had to wait for a week before they got me the car. However this time the pump used was of an earlier Escort design (Which made me apprehensive initially but then the car ran great with the new pump).
