Hey KP,

20K service costed about 3.2 K. I got it done at Safdarjung in Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon. Usual stuff - Engine Oil, Diesel filter, Air Filter + some small thingies. Wheel Alignment and balancing were not done.

True. But then alloys have a lot more ventilation than the stock rims. So there i think that is the reason to the heating.
Cheers.

@naman -> could you please describe the steering vibrations solution that you got done.

@KP -> What with the field failure of i20?

Update: 20k 3rd service update!

The 20k kms/ 3rd service was done last Saturday. On Friday night it took me good 45mins to remove the Petes. The boiling hot parts of the common rail around the connector and the strong clip on the underside was making it worse.
Now, i know how exactly it has to be done so it will only take 5mins in future.

Odo @ Service - 19678kms
Now - 20111 kms

Total Bill - Rs 3044

Parts changed
Oil Filter - 307
Engine Oil - 927
Fuel Filter - 1378
Labour free and Tax extra.

More details later.

Tire tread wear at 21000kms !

Tires - Yokohama A DRIVES
Size - 185/65-14
Total kms - 21000kms
Instrument used - Digital Vernier caliper

Current tread depth (mm):
FR - 5.46
FL - 5.28
RL - 6.21
RR - 6.00

Average Tire tread depth - 5.73 mm

Tire tread depth of new tire - 8.50 mm

Percentage of tire wear @ 21000 kms - 33% [(8.5- 5.73)/8.5]*100

This is incredible considering the amount of torque (290Nm) and the wheelspins it has gone through.

I was expecting around 35k kms from the tires but now i think it will cruise to that mark.

I did it myself. No cost involved if u can source a vernier caliper from somewhere for sometime.

Prajesh, couldn't you have done this on Sat morning when the engine would have been cooled overnight...?

Hope you have rotated the tires? Also dont go by vernier reading, tires will start fading off faster at later part of its life and also safe limits will not be 0 mm depth if you are planning on driving fast

If you do lots of highway driving then the left tyres should wear out more than the right. So RR wearing more than RL is not right, unless you have recently rotated the tyres. And make sure for the next rotation RR goes to FR and not FL as is the norm.

Also in the UK legal tyre tread limit is 1.6mm. Going by that logic, you still have about (5.73-1.6) = 4.1mm tread or about 31k kms more left on the tyres.
