A very nice ownership report indeed. After 3-3.5 yrs of driving SX4 , I have felt my first bit of problems with its heavy clutch and lethargic pickup despite the car having been for its service. Its only done 16500 Km.
I don't know if its due to my other car being quite responsive or Sx4 aging a bit. I remember doing 140 was a breeze on expressway but now it struggles to reach 110-120.
Ive been getting 10-11kmpl in city traffic and 13-14 on highways blasts which is acceptable. |
My SX4 has 75k kms on the odo, 30 months old.
Never did I feel the car is sluggish, in fact it still flies - on a recent trip to Goa from Bangalore managed to clock a top speed of 181.23 kmph as per the GPS reading.clap:
Please get the air filter / clutch checked.
best regards

Sx4 - repair cost
Had an accident while taking my SX4-ZXi out from the parking lot. I was taking the car from a parallel parked position and another car hit the front-left portion (he did not notice my car coming out ). The front wheel was turned otward, hence the impact was also on this wheel. Due to this impact, the car moved backwards and hit the wall behind. Both front & back bumpers were badly hit, and also left side front suspension parts. While driving, the car was pulling to the left and good amount of noices were coming from the left wheel. Got the car back after 7 days (some delay due to non availability parts). Here is the summary of the repair costs. Thought of posting this to give an idea of indicative repair costs of SX4.
Left Head-Lamp - 2876.32
Strut Assy, FR suspension LH - 1557.02
End Comp, TIE Rod - 2100.88
TIE-Rod Steering Pinion side - 1139.47
Washer, TIE Rod Lock - 29.82
Front Bumper - 2077.19
Rear Bumper - 2687.72
Labour - 10500
Consumbles - 100
Total Cost (with taxes etc) - 25906.
I hope the above mentioned costs are reasonable. In any case, mandovi did a very good job and the car is really feeling great while driving post repair.
Hi,
Nice report. I have had my SX4 ZXI for a little over 6 months now and am close to touching 5k on the odo. Dont use it much in the city as I prefer to use my bike to go to work. The car is largely used over the weekends or when it rains. I clock up a fair amount of miles traveling to Chennai or Mysore from Bangalore. Have not had any rattles as of now, but you never know.
Interesting to see that the mileage of 90% of the SX4's out there is in the range on 9.5 to 11.5 kmpl.
I never posted a report as soon as I boought the car, I guess its time for a 6 month report. Hopefully over the weekend.

Looks like I read the last year's post and commented :) Valid nonetheless
@psvinay, Sorry to hear the mishap
Labour - 10500 - this includes painting i suppose.
Have had my Sx4 for 4k kms now. Consistent fuel consumption readings have been in the range of 11-12 kms per litre. This is measured full tank to full tank. Driving consists of 50% highway, the a/c is always on.
I too have felt the car does not pull away from, say, a speed-breaker, as fast as my Baleno used to. I get a feeling like the engine is on a rubber-band, it stretches and then begins to tug.
