The frontal treatment to the looks of the car have given it a mellowed effect, which you begin to accept and live with, but not entirely desirable.

How much were you charged for the side strips? I seriously dont understand why Ford had to release the car without them in the first place!

EDIT:
Samarth, the remote boot opener was always available at the dealer. Its just the price which kept me away. I heard it costs 6.5k, which IMO isnt worth it. Since you've waited so long, wait some more. A certain BHPian may be on his way to bringing about a DIY set-up. So, WAIT!
Well yes, that's what even I have mentioned in my review of the car, my heart still goes with the 1.6Nxt looks. This might be the strategy to give it a new life and looks or part of their new Kinetic design.

Why the hell they removed those strips in first place, that even also gets me crazy after all we would be driving this in India. The only reason that fits in they have removed the strips in this model and painted the bumbers completely so as to give some extra elegance but frankly saying still, this is a satisfaction to myself as an answer.

Those side strips costed me 1000 bugs

Haven't experienced yet but like GM they had some thing like a comparo chart which promise that I would be paying few thousand bugs less than a Dzire in 100K kms run, I wish they truthfuly do that.

Now if only the guys at Ford had left the Ikon's frontal looks as it was. The new look is so Escort-ish.
Bro, all your dreams are never fulfilled!

Oh and thanks I didnt know you could fit a remote boot opener at the dealer Will surely check it out.

Agree with you Ben, it was a stupid thing to remove the side strips. They come very handy in preventing scratches.
Its a Excellent diesel, at a cracker of a price

the older icon's front looks better than the new one. the older was macho type and looks more bold. dont know why ford messed up with that.

Very nice looking alloys budhiraj.

Any issues you have faced after upgrading you tyres to 185/65/14, specially during turns with the steering locked to one side, the tyre touching the wheel well etc.

185 and 14" is a safe upsize for the Ikon, with no wheel scraping.

Guys have completed the initial runin for 1000 Kms, haven't touched 100 Kms never clocked more than 2300 Rpms.

My oDo now says 1260 Kms, have spoken at Ford for the Oil change but as per them it is not required. The scheduled Oil Change is at 10000 Kms or 6 months which is too much for me.

What does you all guys say, I am planning for Oil Change this weekend!

budhiraj,

Change your oil immediately. The oil has to be changed after an engine completes its running-in period of 1,000 kms. Do not go by what your Ford SA is saying.

Cheers,

You dont need to, but if you want to, then you can. No harm either way.

Importantly, how does your oil look ? At 700km, the oil in my engine is beautifully clear. I will be going with Ford's published schedule for the oil change.

I found the rubber to be a bit high profile. It is definitely more than the normal, as someone mentioned the correct upsize would have been 60 and not 65 profile. Anyway, looks great to me. It is difficult to digest the extra costs asked for in NCR. We here are not used to these costs at all, so such comments probably. Go with the Oil change schedule as mentioned by Ford. I beileve for me too the oil was changed at 10K, though its a petrol.

The car looks fab. not a great fan of the new looks, but as some one said, the look grows on you. it kind of has a mustangish stance. why do you still have the ribbon on the bonnet???

The Ribbons have been removed now, the pics were taken when the baby was just a week old.

Yes the Rubbers are bit High profile.

Well yes these dealers in NCR are clearly doing the day time robbery. I can digest the loading charges for Ford Who have their plant in Chennai but definitely not for Maruti who manufactures the car in NCR.

My brain says do what Ford said, lets see what my heart orders.

Condor @ the Oil looks the same way as yours but dont you think the 10k for the oil change is too much.

Frankly saying In all my other cars I have always done this as per schedule and everything did absolutely well but the Team-BHp guide says you must get it at 1000ks.

i too feel the old looks were showing a tough (angry Charging kind of face) image of the ICON and the new one looks a bit delicate.
but since some one has pointed out mustangish front suddenly my thinking is going in that direction and now the front is looking good for me

2500 Kms + Mileage + Visit to Ford

2500 Kms

I have clocked 2500 Kms on the ODo and the Machine is doing absolutely fine.

Haven't touched 3000 Rpms as of yet, still waiting for some more miles to clock and then will see.

No rattles as of yet, Wish never have them (But I shouldn't forget I am living in India, even the Mercs can loose their names on Indian roads)

Overall the Car is doing the required job (Being good VFM sedan) at its best.

Visit to Ford

Visited ford at 1000 kms for Oil change but the Service Manager refused to do so, His explanations Ford uses some special oils for Intial period, so that is required to be there.

As always in India with all managers, he didn't have proper answer for what special Oil.

Anyways I was satisfied with what he said and will wait for the time as per Ford.

Mileage

This Machine is a true Mileage Champion continously it has been delivering between 18 - 19.5 Kms in Urban and Sub-urban conditions with 10% AC on
