thanks guys for your comments. really appreciate it!!

@ TOR : the only +ve of swift over fabia is the engine. its more powerful, because fabia has the conventional TDI. technology matters you see.
apart from that the feel of fabia was far superior than swift. the dash, the exterior, inside cabin space i loved everything about it. even the way she ate up all the bumps on the road. it gives an upmarket feel all the way!! i would still want to buy a fabia someday.

And Fabia 1.4 TDi is PD. Older technology.
Its not CRDi or the Tdi Technology coming in the Octi.

No, PD (Pumpe Duse) is a VAG exclusive tech.

Check out this article for more details. Apparently, PD is more efficient than CRDi, but cannot confirm to very tight emission standards.

When we were looking for our car, my dad insisted on checking on maruti though I was against it strongly. We were told that petrol swift can be arranged within 2 days. Whereas diesel swift has a waiting period of 3 months or more, while the dzire both petrol and diesel versions may take between 6 to 8 months. You must have read many other cases already of people booking then cancelling their orders for the swift cause the waiting period is a real pain and in spite of waiting maruti tends to provide problems.

A porsche et all take less than 6 months to be delivered

Swift Deisel with ABS has a longer waiting period than the one without ABS.

I would even wait for 1 year for the same.
I'd happy even if its not customized at all

But sad that the delivery time of swift is so much
They should increase the production to reduce the delivery time.

I think the bottleneck is the Engine plant, can only produce so much and the production needs to be split amongst the partners and customers. Currently the motor is doing duty on SWIFT/DZIRE/VISTA/PALIO/LINEA.
Maruti had expansion plans for the Engine Plant but i'm not sure if they have been shelved due to the economic bad weather.

They have. It was in the news recently that MUL would increase focus on the two best selling vehicles Swift and Dzire to counter recession.

Re: White VDI..5 months and 11000kms from the start..

Hey man. Sorry to hear about the dent. i know exactly how that feels.
I too am facing similar rattling problems you faced. The front left door rattles continuously and the i hear noises from the dash too. i am planning to give it to a local mechanic now for rectifying the same problems.
I was really impressed with the silver finish dash console and the steering. From where did you get it done and how much did it cost? I want the same for my Dzire, i went to some car accessory dealers and all of them did not have a clue about the aluminum finish dash. They told me to try authorized maruti service centers but i know they are no good and even if they were, they would charge me a lot for a small job like this.
Please throw some light on this.
