Completed 100,000 km on 30th July 2009 - in 55 months. Once this benchmark has been crossed, I am ready to sell the car. It continues to run totally trouble-free, and the link to the Classifieds pages is as below.

Damn! The last tankful (from a pump other than my regular one) of diesel was bad. Smoking from the tailpipe. Got to take the car in for service - Saturday morning gone!

Here are the pics celebrating 100,000 km in 55 months.

I've had inquiries from prospective buyers asking me if the mileage is genuine. What do they expect me to answer? "Oh no, I've actually run 200,000 and then clocked the car."??? How many 55-month-old non-commercial cars are there with 100k km? There's full service history to back it up too.

And I've booked my next car - coming during the Durga Puja week...

Completed 102,500 km today, and still enjoying the drive as much as ever.

Last week, I test-drove an i20 Asta CRDi. Totally smitten with the responsiveness (better than the Viva CRDi), and it's such a desirable replacement for the Swift!

Almost ended up trying to celebrate this Durga Puja with 2 new cars in the house, but then, with my previous negative experiences with Hyundai, my wife was not too enthusiastic.

As the time comes closer for me to dispose of the car, I am not feeling overly enthusiastic about it. I am attached to the car, it's been a lovely and trouble-free ownership experience, and I'll be sad to see it go.

Well, there's not much to update. The car has done 103,900 km as of today, and I had it serviced at HMP Delhi today (and promptly messed up the cleaned car while driving back home through the rains). Current FE is 14.8 km/l (tankful to tankful). Nothing required special attention.

Two days ago, I was involved in a freak accident, where the sharp end of a metal plant protector (the L-angle-and-net cylindrical thingy they put around plants to stop cows from eating them up) - something like this:

Accent Viva CRDi Dec '04 - Bid Adieu After 106,063 km.-willowconetrellis2.jpg

bounced off the wheel of a truck and landed in front of me, with a jagged hole punched into the front bumper. On afterthought, I was glad it didn't hit more centrally, and did not take out my radiator. Will get someone to repair the damage over the weekend.

Waiting for confirmation of delivery date of my new car within the next couple of weeks, at which point of time I'll need to bid adieu to this one - with a heavy heart.

Gone...

The Accent went today. 106,063 km on the odo, sold for Rs.2,40,000. I retained back the comprehensive insurance and transferred it to the Scorpio (added a cost of Rs.2908 for the raised IEV of Rs.950,000 till 30 December 2004), and gave the buyer a third-party insurance cover for 1 year for Rs.993. Despite the euphoria of getting a new car, one corner of my mind is in mourning. I was emotionally a little attached to that car, but then the old sometimes have to make way for the new. Never before could I have imagined that a 3-pot engine can be so much fun.

SS
I can imagine how you feel. On 14th August as I walked away from my car after handing over the keys to the buyer I couldn't help but look again and again at her. Before walking away, I gently ran my hand along her body to feel her one last time and soak that feeling in my memory. Somewhere in my mind I had this desire to see her again someday on the road with maybe someone else driving it.

It was a truly emotional moment and something which I cant forget soon.

SS, that is a sad story indeed---I can understand your pain of parting with the car on which you've munched so many miles.

Anyways, congrats on your new Hawk!
