Looks like you are back from vacation or something. I don't know if you checked your PM's.

Anyway, are the caliper pins available separate for Cedia or do I need to get the entire caliper bracket assembly/ kit?

Hey GC, even my suspension has started making rattling and knocking sounds. You are aware of the same, and no the connecting rods under the rear speaker housing is not loose, I checked everything.

The sound basically is from both rear ends, tires going over short bumps especially and then there is the vertical knocking rattle like something tall hitting against two sidewalls in a rocking motion.

Happens on both sides when both tires evenly go over bumps, and if a single tire goes over a bump the sound comes from that side only.

Lately, the front tires and suspension setup has also started returning slight rattling noises and over short, abrupt bumps.

The Aquest guys here in Mumbai took the car last on 25th August and did a full 'Rear Shock Absorber Assembly Remove and Reinstall' but found nothing amiss with it.

Will update my thread of the same soon, just no time with the festive season and regular tours.

^Is that rear sound due to silencer mounting gone kaput?
Front side: I don't think rattling noise is due to suspension. Can you describe the kind of noise?

Ok, will try, and it's not the muffler mounting. That assembly is rock solid, will check again nevertheless.

So if you recollect the metallic reflector studs on roads, running parallel to dividers and across the road at zebra crossings; now if in bumper to bumper traffic the rear tire goes over one of those (or a series of them) at rolling speed, the rear right tire, and only the rear right makes a cyclic 'khud khud khud' or a 'thuk thuk thuk' sound which is like when you stand a bottle between two walls and rock the bottle, and the bottle then eventually comes to a stop after hitting either wall a few times.

The sound is like a vertical something hitting against two walls on either side, and it starts, goes to a crescendo and then quietens down, until the tire goes over the next stud.

Ditto for the left rear tire too.

And both rear tires make the same noise when they both go over bumps simultaneously.

The noise from front tire is rare, and usually over uneven surface.

Drive is fine over smooth roads, but the noise has grown louder over the past few thousand kms, not sure if that affects the suspension performance, but is irksome.

I also feel the stock Potenzas have slightly hardened already, and I have done only 12k so far.

I am not too sure if caliper pins will be available separately, but I will certainly get you that sardarjis number by tomorrow and you can talk to him about the same. Extremely sorry for delayed response..

Have you also checked the skirting clips that go under the bumper, they are plastic ones and can go kaput. If thats the case, get some bolts on..

Skirting clips is a possibility, you wont get to know just by seeing it. Put your hand across to the 2 clippings that hold on to rear bumper from under neeth. They do have vertical movement and are flexible, so they can make the tun tun noise...

Again check same cliping for front bumper.. I dont expect any issues with suspension this early..

Cant say about this noise..

But this certainly looks like skirt clips..

Thanks. Will wait for the number.

@Mandheer
Well, in my case I had a metal-to-metal 'cling' sound. My mechanic indicated it was a gearbox issue. I got a second opinion on this and now believe this is a caliper pin issue.

A simple test is to park the car and using your fist, bang on each tyre and see if you can hear some noise (similar to some metal part shaking inside.) This was true for three of my four wheels - where the caliper pins have got a problem (the rubber part in one of the pins was missing completely and there was a melted rubber band - I don't know if A.S.S did that when the car was with previous owner or what.)

I am not saying that this would be the case in your Cedia, but still thought of sharing this.

You could just try this test and share the results.
Another tip to check for noises from the back:
1. Park the car
2. Open the boot
3. Grab the car from the sides (the portion where the boot lid meets the rear of the car above the tail lamps.)
4. Shake the car from left to right vigorously.
5. Can you hear the same sound?
If yes, remove items from your boot (everything to be removed) and go to step 1 again.

Another test:

See if you are able to catch something by tapping the car at various points like tail lights, bumper etc.
You could get the same sound in one of these tests.

Yet another test (for detecting anything that is vibrating and making a noise).

Drive upto speed of 60 in 5th gear. Then wait for the car to slow down on its own from 60-40 without changing the gear. Now, the engine noise will be very low and you can pick additional noises coming from elsewhere. Try and hear noises that you can at this stage.

The SRS light doesn't necessarily mean the clock spring has conked, it can also be a fuse issue or a charging problem. In the cedia however, it's usually a clock spring problem.

Yes. Only solution is replacement of the spring which costs 12.3k from Mitsubishi. It's a 5 minute job. I highly doubt you'll find this part outside and even if you do, I wouldn't recommend it.

I wrote a mail to Mitsubishi stating that the problem was a common one and hence a recall should have been issued. It was a rather longish mail that resulted in a 50% discount.

Gaurav once told me that the clockspring can fail if the steering is turned without the engine being on. Do keep that in mind and far as possible, avoid doing it.
I had faced this problem of SRS light during my warranty period ( in first 6 months). It was fuse in my case and they replaced it without any cost. Now my cedia is 3.5 yrs old ( 30 kms) and sicen then did not face this issue again.

re: Its White, its Sports and its a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4L km up & new S-drives!

The maintenance seem to be on an incline.. Day before yesterday evening, the AC stopped throwing cool air and I suspected leak gas. Went today to get the car checked at an AC shop (got civics gas filled 10 days back from the same shop) and was told that the AC pipe that connects the condensor to compressor has a leak at the joint. Damn..where will I get a new pipe now, was my first reaction. But the mechanic told me that this pipe can easily be repaired. Didnt even bother calling Asian Motors as the estimate was 800 for gas and 700 for pipe repair.

As the pipe was sent for repairing, I told the shop keeper about the stupid tree in front of our house that sheds tiny leaves chowking the cooling coil and I dont feel like getting the complete dashboard off to get the cooling coil cleaned. The shop keeper said that the coil can be cleaned only be taking off the glove box, ecu and an intake part. He insited I should get the same done and I agreed.

The mechanic took off the glove box, ecu and intake part to get access to cooling coil which was filled with leaves. He covered the wiring with plastic and then cleaned the cooling coil using pressure wash, the waste of which was channeled to a container on passenger side foot well.

Finally, the ac pipe came back with new rubber hose and ends; and it was put on to its place and was check for any leaks. The gas was filled and the AC was switched on. Bingo, the AC was cooling like anything.. the air flow also increased, which was blocked by the chowked cooling coil. Total damage Rs.1800. It took around 2 and a half hours in total.

Any pictures of this?
My AC is not very effective (except on blower position 3) on a hot sunny afternoon.
Is this a DIY job? (at least I can remove some leaves, since my car is also parked under a tree).

Sry, no pics, the space was too tight and I didnt find it right to ask the mechanic to get aside after dismantling each thing for me to take the snap..

Well, if your cooling coil has never been cleaned in past, then you need cleaning, as I did mention the same when you bought the car.

One can do a DIY after seeing one do it once, but for first time I wont recommend a DIY.

Get hold of a good AC specialist and get the coil cleaned, the difference will be huge..I knew it because we have to get the cooling coil of all the cars cleaned every 2 years because of the stupid tree..But this was the first time AC of any car was serviced outside ASC, normally we visited this shop only for gas top ups/refills..

In between, since, the average run has gone down, I am planning to make a habbit of using the car cover in order to prevent the leaves from getting in the car. But someone tells me that constant use of cover will have adverse effect on car's paint in long run.. any expert advice on the same is welcome guys..Its the genuine cedia cover you get from Showroom...(not cloth one)

Nothing at the moment I just wanted the spares guy numbers for record. Would you be some where near the Alloy wheel market. I am interested in a set of Lenso alloys in 15" 100 pcd for the Swift in case you know a good shop. The catch is I am looking for a 5 spoke design with only 4 holes and most wheels have 8.

As for the cover I did get one with the car and I insisted on getting one made from a material called 'Tyvek' this is so much better than the ordinary silver color cover that are useless. This one not only keeps out dust but also rain water. Here it is made by a co. called Polco and their covers are available with Hypercity and reliance autozones. Size C+ and D fit the Cedia though not exactly. The trick is to buy size C+ as it is slightly tight (due to the spoiler) therefore does a wonderful job of keeping the fine summer dust out compared to the D size which is slightly loose and lets in some dust. No water gets through with either one. You can now buy these online too.

re: Its White, its Sports and its a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4L km up & new S-drives!

@Gaurav: I have the normal silver one that khoj has mentioned above. I kept the cover inside once it started raining and it is still raining in Pune.
The problem with covers is that
1. Cleaning the covers is an additional task due to tree sap etc getting on it. In my cover, the car still gets dusty from inside. So, the cover has to be cleaned from both sides at regular intervals.
2. Removing and putting covers back is when you could scratch the car - so we have to be very careful during this.
I think my cover price was between 1200 and 1600.
I will need to find out a good AC service center.
