Just curious. I am trying to see if A.S.S. agree on trying this procedure.

Edit: @GC: You mentioned earlier
>I am quiet happy with castrol edge, costed me Rs.2900 for 4 Litres.

I think you had earlier used Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40. Do you notice any difference between the two?

Need six in total. Only one pair is not making any noise. My concern is that they may ask me to buy the caliper brackets as well. That is expensive.
Can caliper makes sound during normal run ( with out braking). I have been facing a rattling sound in my cedia over bumps and speed breakers for some time as per service engineer suspension and exhaust are perfect. Is there any way I can check the health of caliper by manually inspecting it.

^As per my information and testing, caliper pins will make sound only without braking. If you put your foot lightly on the brake pedal, then the sound would disappear. Please try this and write back.
Meanwhile, another test to check the caliper is here.

re: Its White, its Sports and its a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4L km up & new S-drives!

My car is due for servicing -actually it is overdue. This should be the 110K service actually.

Current ODO is 105.5K
Last service where engine oil was changed was at 97.5K, but that was in February.

Khoj ji has mentioned earlier about Bardahl

Quote:

I presume that you will take the car to J Williams. If you do, try getting Amol to take care of your vehicle. The other service advisor Zakir or Zaib or something is least interested in the vehicles or associated problems. There is a third one too I forget his name and he is ok too.
I am considering getting this serviced outside to a known service center where I had a good experience in the past. I am assuming servicing a Cedia is no different than any other car.

Now, from the service record:

The 97.5K (actually 100K) service has the following:
Bardahl Special injector Klene - 364
Bardahl engine tuneup - 577
Bardahl oil treatment - 444
Carborator spray - 111

I am assuming that I will miss out on the above if I get the car serviced outside. Saves money. But do I lose something?

Brake oil was changed at 40K as per service history. No entry after that.

There is no mention of throttle body cleaning - I assume that is not done and I would like to get that done as well.

Other items which will be done in the service:
Engine oil change
Air filter
Oil filter
Coolant topup

Brake pads were changed around 80K and may last another 5K.
Spark plugs were changed around 80K

Gear oil was changed at 100K when I got the car by my mechanic.

Do my discs require shimming? See photo in the link below. Sorry I don't have a better photo.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...i-cedia-4.html

AC gas was filled in February at A.S.S. Do I need to refill it?

Skipped items:
I will have to figure out something for the caliper pins in the near future. (A.S.S. charges around 4500 for 4 pairs).
I need to find a good AC specialist to clean the heater core. (estimate: 2K cost)
Brake pads will last for some more time. (estimate: 5K for Front and Rear, outside market)
Synthetic oil for engine may need to wait for another 6 months. May stick to mineral oil due to other items listed above which will cost me quite significantly. Also my running is just 5K per 6 months.

re: Its White, its Sports and its a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4L km up & new S-drives!

As with most things mechanical, do periodic checks and do not change or try to fix anything that is not broken or showing signs of fatigue.

As with all things chemical, all of the fluids etc will degrade and break up. So you are better off using the less expensive mineral oil and changing it maybe twice an year or every six months. Composition of various constituents such as engine oil etc. will break up more rapidly while it stands rather than when it is being churned around, heated up and cooled down etc.

YOu did ask a very good question in your other post

I would love to get a good source of fuses etc. These are available in the spares shops but the quality is ridiculous. maybe one amongst us knows of or has an appropriate source.

Thanks a lot sir, will look up Mazda. It breaks my heart every time I pass by the spoiler.

Thankfully it doesn't show in my rear-view, and that's a big relief.

As for the antenna, my Corsa earlier had a similar issue and I had marked the spot and got a hole stitched just there, for ease of use. It was a Tyvek too.

The job was done by a cobbler who was also kind enough to do a metal lining so that the hole wouldn't tear further. Never had to take off the antenna again.

I used to get a red vinyl cut paste done on my old Lancer GLXi. On the grille + boot + 4 tire caps.

It's a 5 minute job and can be refreshed every couple of months. Heck there even was the option of the 'radium' type red, which I opted out of.

Do share the contact details of the cobbler, I will be in Bombay next month with the car complete with the cover in it and maybe we could pay the guy a visit

This was in my hometown Lucknow, but am sure a tailor/cobbler could just make a slit and line it with stitching.

The hemming done by him was a simple metal sheet folded over, and a simpler hemming could be done by stitching all around.

Nevertheless, we could go find a johnny around here to do it too.

I am guessing that A.S.S. is the only place where we would get the entire set. In my car, I don't have any spares (since this is a pre-owned car) or maybe I am looking at the wrong place?

Just curious. I am trying to see if A.S.S. agree on trying this procedure.
The guy used a plastic mat to channel the waste water into the container, little water went on to the floor and that was soaked using a towel.. so no issues there..

I think you had earlier used Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40. Do you notice any difference between the two?
I find Castrol Edge better than the Motul because my car started consuming oil when I started using motul (about 5-700 ml every 5k kms), ever since I switched to castrol there is no consumption, have done over 4k kms. Further, I felt the engine to be better revving on the castrol. However, I feel that it was the very bottle of the Motul oil that had some problem, it was over one and a half year old and I felt it was thinner than the Castrol synthetic that went in my polo.. Other people including ROC, and Khoj havent had any such issues..

Another reason I'd stay away from Motul is that you need to buy it in 5L pack which costs 5300 including tax from ASC compared to the Castrol Edge which cost about 2900 from outside for 4L.

Certainly, checking the pins while braking a little, is to check if its the caliper pin noise and the second method you listed makes sure that its caliper pin. Thanks for sharing.

Since, you do about 5-6k kms in 6 months and your car has done over 1 lac kms, I would recommend, you stick to normal oil and change it every 7-8k kms. You should do just fine.. IMO, if you drive normally, getting your car's oil changed ever 10k km/1 year in case of normal oil or 15k kms/1 year in case of synthetic is absolutely no problem..

It certainly isnt but why not go to the ASC only and get only necessary stuff done. You can choose not to opt for Bhardahl treatments..

Get Engine oil, oil filter, air filter and brake/clutch fluid changed. Also, throttle brody cleaning should cost you 3-400 from outside and about 800 from ASC.

Also, get the alternator and AC belts checked, which are recommended for change at 80 or 100 k kms..Dont change them if the belts are in decent condition..Only thing one needs to worry about is timing belt and that I beleve have been changed in your case..? if I remember right..

According to the picture of brake pads I see in your thread, which I believe was clicked some 1-2k kms back, I can recon that not even 1/3 of the pads are consumed. Considering your driving style, I think they can last another 20-25k without issue..

Quote:

No, get it done when you get the pads replaced, until you are witnessing lot of shudder while braking..

Quote:

Not at all, you shouldnt need a refill untill it gets leaked..Just get the service done and you should do fine.

Quote:

Only AC servicing from outside without opening the dash should cost you Rs. 6-800 (excluding gas). If you are ready to pay 2 k, better pay 3.5k to the ASC, get the dash board off and get heater core and blower cleaned properly and get new AC gas.

In between, you can find 2-3 fuses along with fuse plucker behind the small storage next to the steering onto the bottom side of the dash. Open the storage and pull the entire thing out. If you need pics I can click some and post.

Ya, I think I ll get the alloys Mitsui logo done red along with the calipers while replacing the tires in about 2-3 months, should break the monotony of white and black .

Yes. Belts were changed at 97.5 K (100K)
Timing Belt - 3551
Timing belt tensioner assy - 2854
Alternator belt and others - 1198
v-ribbed belt - 2896

No shudder while braking, but one day my son put small pebbles all over the car including the space between alloy spokes and some in along the brake discs. I tried removing them but some went inside the gap between the discs.
There was lot of squeaking sound when the car started moving. Fortunately the sound disappeared after 1 KM or so. No sound after than for 250 KM of highway run.
I will need to get this checked still.

I am worried about the possible rattles that come in after a dashboard is removed and re-fitted. I somehow like a noise free car.

re: Its White, its Sports and its a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4L km up & new S-drives!

Yesterday went to Excel Motors to get the fuse for R.H.S Parking lights and instrument binnacle's backlight. Referred to the parts manual which did not designate the fuse rating, so per the workshop electrician's advice asked for a 10Amps fuse. Was given a 15Amps as 10 was not in stock. It is a different matter that upon opening the fuse box it turned out that a 7.5 Amps was required. Used the spare 10Amps fuse and the 15Amps went in to the spares.

While I was there I found something

Price on box was 2400/- The total bill including Rs. 50 odd for the fuse was Rs. 2100/- . Carried out the DIY operation this forenoon and it was a breeze. Do note that the filter is easily available across all of the work shops as per the spare parts manager this is also used in some other Mitsubishi vehicles sold here and the 2010 onwards manufactured Cedias have this as standard fitment. @mandheers & others with 2010 models do check & revert.

Ya, I think its the same filter used in Outlander and Montero (as sanjay from Asian Motos told me).. Rs.2,400 is expensive but certainly worth it when you know that you will save all the hassle in AC servicing including ripping the dash and cleaning the cooling coil and blower..Cleaning the filter every 10k kms and replacing it every 20k kms, should do the job just about fine..

Thanks for sharing..

Ya. It makes sense to install this. I think I'll get one too.
However, since it is standard fitment on other vehicles,it might be available after market too. I'll check and let you all know.
Thanks for the information,Khoj.
