The vehicle has crossed 119,900 kms.
Got the differentials oils changed; the first TASS filled in the regular differential oil and were not aware of the friction modifier required for the LSD at the rear diff. Searched around and seems it was something TASS is not aware of, or acted as such.
Got myself a LSD friendly oil for the rear diff from Amazon.
Though the oils were changed recently, the shock I got when I drained the existing oil was enough for me to doubt the changes that were done on all fluids.
Ended up changing the front diff oil as well (and it was as bad as the rear diff oil).
Bought the oil myself and used a local mechanic shop to change the oils, with me in supervision. Thankfully, did not allow them to put in their oil, which was of lower grade and which they use it for "all" vehicles.
Also got the brake oil drained and refilled. This is an easy DIY, which I plan to do myself next time.
Similarly, drained and refilled the power steering fluid as well. Another DIY for the next change
Engine oil, oil filter and diesel filter was changed at KVR Service center, at Palakkad. Got changed 2k+ INR, which is the amount for the major service, for just these works. Got told this is the standard charge, so another DIY work, the next time around.
With all this done, the vehicle is running strong (touch wood) and as comfortable as ever. The amount of space is a real boon now, with the family having grown.
One issue that came up recently is the knocking sound when high accelerator input is given; checked for the injectors and got told they are fine and it might be an issue with one of the sensors related to the fuel line. No smoke, no loss of power nor any jerks are felt, just this sound between 1500 to 2200 RPM when high acceleration is given. Did one tank full of System D; have Bardahl additive for the next tank full.
The Amaron battery, which was last changed in Jan 2015, was showing signs of weakness. Took time to start. Checked and few cells were gone. Changed with the same model Amaron for around INR 6500.
While changing, the rods holding the battery down, gave up. Just rusted away. Welded a 10mm bolt to the broken end and got that sorted.
The work horse!
