Let us not start a race to do on to others what they are doing to us. On personal front let me assure you that I drive a lot at night on highways and follow this rule as much as I can.

May your tribe increase Sudev sir. I follow the same 95% of the time. Logic being, atleast let the other guy see where he is going, so that even if I need to make a swerve, I can and chances of him giving me space is higher.

Of course, there are times, when I feel like letting the other guy also have it!!

With regard to the seats, the GX has leather & fabric combination. It is the light colored one and I just would cry out my eyes out!!! And I know, I am the least popular guy just due to this - sorry! :(

With regard to the lights, I think you mis-understood my note. I mentioned that I was blinded and that the light were not helping me in seeing the road. I was least interested in blinding the others but just focused on ensuring I saw my road clearly, which didn't happen. (And for blinding, I could have just moved the light lever to 1 or 0, since it is currently at 3). And I said that, to help myself, I just followed a leading car, more like a escort, to work around this issue.

I agree with you that an ego run is the last thing one would want - more so me, since the damage I would inflict with a 2-tonner will be very high, so more responsibility is required.

But having said that, I do feel that some people never learn till they are given a taste of their own medicine. Mellowing down give these rogues on road more confidence. So yes, I will go for 90/100, but no, not for gathering the curse of all the safe drivers on our highway and definitely not to put my family at risk, just not worth it.

congrats on your new red bull and your have a brilliant choice. But I have one question How much milage do you get? I have xenon and its weighs 900kgs less than safari but max I got on highway was only 13kms/ltr. Agree with you about the light setting is the same in xenon also.

As for the mileage, the reported ones, from other 2.2 owners is around the same 13~15 on highway. I will be tanking up at Shell before heading out this weekend and will check the mileage and let you know.

I hope you got the same deal from SBI as I had mentioned and got for myself.
Im getting 12 kmpl in city driving with 100% AC, 1/2 minute idle after starting and 1/2 minute before shutting off, and also 3-4 times rev upto 3000rpm once a day. So i guess you should easily get 14 kmpl on the highway.
The HU on ur ICE looks like the same Alpine on the VX... Is it a DVD player and if so do they give LCD screens in the GX.
Also check out whether your vehicle needs the Retro or have they already done it before delivery.

@Sid: Thanks! I do not think it is the same HU as in VX. This seems to be a very basic model. Not much of features. I reckon I need to change it ASAP (time to take the Panasonic out).

As for the retro, I was told it is already done. Regardless, I will check it up once again, when I give the vehicle for first service next week.

Had to drive down to Concord to let them trace out the chassis number on a news-paper for registration purpose (the tracing to be done near the date, on today's paper!).

Few, small things, that are great:

1. The temperature display on the ODO! Great. But, is it showing inside or outside temperature. (I reckon someone will tell me RTFM!!!)

2. Certain cockpit lights turn on only if the lights are on! Wow! Small thing, but impressive!

3. I can select the brightness of the dashboard lighting! Cool!

Question: How do I get the boot fog lamp switched on? I had noticed it to be switched on when we drove back home the first day, but after that day, I have not been successful in getting it to work!

So, 5 days of ownership and this is where the ODO stands:

Boot fog lamp? Are you talking about the rear fogs? If so, keep the rear fog lamp switch (on the centre console) depressed for a few seconds when your headlamps are on or when your front fogs are on. The switch gets activated.

The temp on the LCD display is the external (ambient) temperature. There are a few negatives I noticed though:
1. You can't make the Temp display stay active. It goes back to the trip metre.
2. Contrary to mentioned in the owners manual the LCD backlight goes off when u remove the key. The manual says it stays on but very dimly lit.

As Suman pointed out that is the way to put on the rear fog lamp.

Please remember to read the owners manual from cover to cover, it really helps.

Yup; will be doing that. I did a rough 1 hour reading last night and did that from cover to cover. Read things that were critical (such as wiper and light operation, etc).

That was when I also noticed that high beam flash is a half stick lift (I was doing the click-high beam-click-low beam even for flashing!). Also learnt that you can cancel the indicator blinking by pushing the stick even further in the same direction.

But about the rear fog's, I did not notice it! :(

@Technocrat: Thanks! The color was a good choice; thank God we ended up with this color after all the circus we did. 4x4ing is yet to start. As of now running / bedding in the engine.
