'gratz on the new car. Black looks brilliant.
Thanks Immortalz. I did drive the Civic after that both MT and AT and it was great fun to drive especially the high revving engine. But it was a disappointment when it came to just cruising around in traffic at lower rpm's/higher gears. You have to shift down and rev the motor if you want to increase the space. The Corolla engine is exactly the opposite. It doesn't rev to crazy rpm's so smoothly but boy does it pull. 5th gear will pull from 40kmph onwards very very briskly. In city you rarely need to go down to 2nd and 3rd is more than enough.

Is the number 6639 by chance or you bought it? Eager to read some more on your driving experience.

Abhi
It was available in the ML series so I just had to pay the RTO charges for special number available in series i.e. Rs. 6,000.

Thanks Autonorm. They are releasing this black variant sometime next month is what I was told.

Thanks Nishant. She's going to be taken care of rest assured. It's a good sight to see 2 black beauties Lancer and Altis next to each other in parking lot with same number.

Thanks musicmanaman, Abhinav and Akki_5.

From what I have seen, black corolla is used ONLY by yellow board taxi fellows -- it's like the upscale version of the white indicab

Welcome to the Altis Club and congrats vid6639. She looks fabulous in Black. I am sure she will give you a trouble free long service. I had also evaluated various cars before buying the Altis VL. I selected this because it is a all round package and a complete car. It is comfortable to get in & out, seats are better, maximum features for the price, better drivability in low speeds, better milage and is supposed to be very reliable to provide a 'Peace of Mind' package.

Though the 4 speed auto is a very good gearbox, my only grudge is that Toyota should provide a 5 speed auto box.

Altis has become a real looker in black. I wonder why the toyotas are always reluctant to include black as a choice in their fleet of cars.

Now Innova black is not available. This Altis took ages to come out.

Anyway you are assured of a hassle free ownership.

Congrats for the Altis.

I am quite amased at the fact that you TDed cars in the range of 10Lakhs to 35lakhs and finally brought the least priced (by some good 20Lakhs) among them.

Hey Vid6639,Congrats on your new car. Its a wonderful car that makes you fall in love with it each time you sit behind the wheel. It just ask you to push it, don't get surprised if your clock the odo at 120 but it feels like 60-70.On the passenger seats at the back, its pure comfort. Being driven in Altis, your dad's gonna love it for sure.

Congrats Vid! It is surely looking hot in black.

After reading your review on Superb, I thought you would bring her home but I guess a sensible decision prevailed in the end.

Could you post some interior pics?

Congrats Viddy. Let me know when I can put some graffiti on your Altis - its the minimum gesture I ask in return for witnessing the longest car-gestation in history.

I'll also ask him to add a drag-spec FFE, strobes and flame thrower.
