Yeah this car is definitely perfect for BLR roads!
60k kms and all I do is change break pads.. touch wood! Service costs are 3k to 4k and the paint job is quite fantastic in my opinion. Vid u have got a diff front, have u?

I've just changed the front grill from the 2 chrome one to black honeycomb found in the diesel variants. Gives it a less smily look.

Obviously I would love to know where you got it from (and how much)

I got it from the dealer but it's insanely expensive. 6 grand for just the grill.

I'm sure you can get this cheaper from Thailand or Malaysia.

My Altis is due for 3rd free service. Toyota service advisor says that AC vent clean up @ Rd 1500/- is part of the schedule. Is it true or just a cross sell attempt to fleece me?

Great thread! Good to see the car is serving you well! And after reading more and more threads of a Toyota Vehicle, the reliability can literally be seen! And I'm shocked to see your service costs of 4k to 5k! Heck, even my wagon-r 30k and 40 k services costed me 5.3k each! Great. So while buying a next car, toyota will be high in the list as i've experienced how a not-so-good after sale affects you! Have many more happy miles Vid!

Cheers!

Re: Toyota Altis 1.8 GL - 47,000kms *update* New Yokohama tyres finally

Finally from a crazy hectic schedule I got time to drop the car for 50K kms service. The odo reads 54,900kms, well overdue!

The car has been going to Ravindu Toyota Avalhalli branch which is 20kms away. With the current workload, it was very difficult to get time and drop the car off that far away.

Had a chat with Jaggu and Khan and both of them suggested I try Nandi Toyota on Hosur road, Bomanahalli branch. Khan used to get his Prado serviced there. Jaggu accompanied me to the place as well.

Car was dropped off yesterday afternoon with following issues reported:

1. Clutch had become heavy and would shudder on cold start in morning.
2. Steering rack would rattle over bad roads
3. idling rpm would sometime get stuck at 2000rpm even when warm
4. rear brake pads to be checked to ensure the uneven wear issue from last year has really been fixed.
5. suspension check cause Madhus has mentioned some issue with camber when I changed the tyres in March.

Will get the car back tomorrow and estimate given Rs.4K + taxes.

Things don't look all that rosy today. Got a call from Nandi regarding the complaints. They recommend the following:

1. Front brake pads are down to 3mm. Need to be changed. (Approx 10K)
2. Front caliper kit is getting stuck. Needs to be changed. (Approx 2K)
3. Throttle body will need to be removed and cleaned
4. Rear brakes are down to 7mm from 11mm new. Wear is even. Nothing needed.
5. steering damper to be chnaged.
6. Clutch bleeding done but clutch is towards the end of it's life. Recommended to change but ok for 5K kms. 17K for new clutch + new gear shift bushes.
7. brake rotors need to be skimmed.

Apart from the last item on the list, have told them to go ahead with the other changes. Bill has shot up from 4K to 21K largely due to the new front pads and calipers that are almost 14K.

So you had spent Rs. 2.85 per Km apart from your regular service.

How did you get that number? By adding all the bills in this thread??

Sorry a small miscalculation. Your odo reads 54,900 and your service cost is Rs. 21000

54900/21000 = Rs. 2.61 / km

Even if you want to calculate it this way, it should be the other way around.
Rs. 21000/ 54900 km = Rs 0.38/ km.

Actually you have to add up all service bills from page 1 and then divide by kms. That will give you the actual running cost. As far as I know the total for all services done till now including the current one will not be more than 50K for 55,000kms. Will see based on final bill tomorrow.
