Congratulations, that's a long time! Happy to read, it's going smooth

Where did you get the cover (for the LED bar) made? What material is it?

Hi v&v,

Can you please share more info about the snorkel kit you installed? Price, make and availability. Also, is it a Safari specific model?

Thanks in advance.

You can contact Akshay , he arranged it for me. The link above will have his contact details.

Availability is slim for Dicor. I was able find one only after 6 months. Cost around 15k.

It is model specific and installation is tricky.

re: Tata Safari 2.2 VTT - Black Beast - 8.5 years and 100,000 kms up!

Update at 100,000 kms and 8.5 years.

Vehicle is running fine. I had driven the beast to Bengaluru last October and planning to keep it at Bangalore only. Also paid the life time tax of 70k too. Process of KA number is under process.

Regular Service at Aadya motors during June first week. As beast has not run much, I skipped changing the fuel filter. Rest regular service was done. Oil change, oil filter , air filter and washing. Also general checkup too was done.

Also crossed the magical figure of 100,000 kms

Suspension and Clutch work is due to be done in next 10k kms. Still running on original clutch and suspension.

Re: Tata Safari 2.2 VTT - Black Beast - 8.5 years and 100,000 kms up!

Hi v&v,

I have been reading your travelogues of your safari.

Currently I own a dzire and have been doing himalaya trips quite frequently in dzire.

I had always thought that my next car would be a full size SUV.

But now when the time has actually come for me to upgrade my car, I am getting a cold feet that such a huge vehicle might cause troubles on the narrow hill roads.

So, I wanted to take your opinion if that is actually the case or is it just in my head.

Almost all the hill roads leading to a good offbeat resort are narrow so much so that with an oncoming car, it becomes tricky in my dzire itself.

How do you handle such situations in your safari? How do you manage to take a U Turn in such narrow situations?

Don't you feel it's easier and better to take a small car rather than your safari to hills?

Thanks.

Hello vnv bhai,

Have you gone for suspension work?

If yes, what major parts were changed, how much it costed and what difference you feel now in the ride?.

Pl. do share as mine has also done 98000 now and feels like suspension work is approaching!

Also anything done in AC in your truck beyond routine check up and gas top up/change ?

TIA

Buddy sorry for delayed reply. Well to sum up in a sentence... It's the man behind the wheels that matters than the machine.

Driving a SUV is actually confidence inspiring. It's very comfortable for long distance journey.
