Thank You Sdp1975.I hadn't gone through the manual completely and probably that will the reason for the same.

Btw how's your car doing.?

My car's doing fine thanks - 9K in 4 months. Engine has become a lot "free" now. I'm taking her to the Fiat free service camp on Mar 6.

I don't think I can do long trips in next one or two months, but after that I'll just let her free on the highways.

Needless to say, My SoulMatE aka Fiat Punto is rocking here . The car has clocked 15 k + kms.

Meanwhile we had several long journeys in the past couple of weeks.
1) Trip to Sringeri Temple - Agumbe - Mookambika Temple - Udupi Temple etc
2) Trip to Coorg - KushalNagar etc.

And, I just wanted to update this thread after a long gap. Today, on our return trip from Wayanad we negotiated the hairpin bends and curves in the ghat section in 2nd and 3rd gear with minimal braking(we used the brakes very sparingly, ie brakes were used only in essential situations) and we covered nearly 13 + kms with speeds less than 35 km/hr.

We stopped at a small hotel after the covering the ghat section, and as a matter of fact, we were all really shocked to see an average mileage of 47.4 km/l. !!

Let the pictures speak the truth

An astonishing mileage of 47.4 km/l
Fiat Punto 1.3 MJD Emotion Pack | 26,000 KM update-mileage_fiat_punto_klubclass.jpg

The fuel tank is half-empty and still 700 + kms to go.

Fiat Punto 1.3 MJD Emotion Pack | 26,000 KM update-dsc092782.jpg

Kindly note the following :

* This mileage was attained with minimal acceleration(rather, decelerating in lower gears, say mainly in 2nd and 3rd gears while negotiating the ghat-section)
* Our car was almost fully loaded.( 2 adults and 2 children + Bags)
* The mileage was attained by keep the revs under 2000.
* There are no problems with the MID(Multi Information Display). Ya, I got a mileage on around 18.5 km/l on the way to Wayanad.

I wish i could drive my car with very light foot, But normally i can't because i hate to drive slowly. !!

Btw, I'll be posting detailed report on the 2nd service and the journeys within a couple of days.

Regards,
Amith aka KlubClass

Does any one know the AC compressor size of Punto? Normally hatches have 80 to 90 cc compressor but it seems Figo has a 152 cc compressor which explains for superchilling Figo.

Wow superb mileage. I always challenge for mileage in all my cars, I have pushed my Santro to give 25.6KM/L at speed from 80-110KpH, this was a real shocker for me too.

My New PUNTO on done 380KM, 2 weeks from show room. Avg Consumption shows 12.7KM?L now, from initial stage which was 10.4KM/L. After how many KMs will this cross 16-18KM/L ?

Thank you Arun.Whoa, we're in same boat. My love for Fiat is increasing manifolds. And yes, I don't feel regret for buying this Italian Hatch.

Thank you Sujith. It really a pleasure to extract the maximum mileage .
Btw, your average mileage seems to be a bit low. Did you achieve those figures in City or Highway.?

I used to get nearly 16-17 during the initial days(City+Highway Driving) and 14-15 in City driving with 100% AC ON.Anyway, don't worry. The mileage will increase gradually as you log more miles.

Btw, i feel that there is a little improvement in the average mileage after the 2nd service. Did any other Punto owners felt the same.?

@Klub: For a moment I thought it is instantaneous consumption that you're displaying! It's really surprising, since the average mileage is an average of the inst. consumption over time (when the car is running) from the moment you reset the trip meter, and the inst. mileage figure tops out at 50kmpl - it never goes beyond that!

The maximum I ever saw in my Punto's DIS is 24 kmpl (Avg consumption)

I consistently get 14kmpl with 100% AC in 100% city drive. While city and HW combines (30-70) I get in the range of 19-22kmpl. The max I got was on Mbai-Pune expway for 80 km stetch = 25.7 kmpl. Mine is 1800 km run 1.3 Emo Pk.

raamki,
Since the GP MJD has a very good low end grunt, I don't think you need to use the accelerator all that much and in the end achieve good FE values.
My GP gives me 15kmpl in 100% city conditions and about 18-19kmpl in the city and highway cycle.

Exactly. The low end torque works here. I still feel I can improve the FE fig as I am still getting used to Diesel car.

Off Topic - Palio to Punto

It's great to see the number of users who have stuck to Fiat. Right on this page I see, neoonwheels, clevermax, klub class and myself all of whom have graduated from a Palio to a Punto.

^ Count me in too! From Uno to Linea. KC, great going. That is some good driving skills in extracting the value for every single drop of diesel. Keep it going.

Yes, I also noticed this while reading few recent posts in here.
In my case, I've not sold Palio and no intention to do so.

I guess we can start a thread on this. I have few points to write after driving two of these cars, like what's missing in Punto and present in Palio etc
