No particular reason other than that I like clean oils in the system. Also, I believe mountain driving and city driving are equally extreme trying conditions.

20k km change intervals for a mineral oil? I would never even try... 15k km is bad enough in my books.

Hi SS-T,
I think they are semi-synth as I recollect from the last of my M&M ASC days.

+1. All M&M oils are semi synthetic.

The deterioration or life of an engine oil is dependent on its oxidation. Oxidation of oil happens due to carbon deposition in the engine. As engine technology is improving, lesser carbon gets deposited internally thereby allowing the oils to work more efficiently. Hence I think there is nothing to worry about the oil change intervals posted by manufacturers.

I think both of you are wrong. Spike, could you kindly throw some light on this issue please?

Hi SS-T,
I saw this (semi synth nomenclature) on the engine oil 'dabba' at M&M ASC.

Which oil are we talking of here Maximile Crown or Syntec? Syntec is for transmission and is semi-synthetic IIRC.

Which dabba, do you have any pics of the same?

Any idea what is the cost of 1 L Semi-synthetic engine oil (the cheapest one)?

Good read - The difference between synthetic and mineral motor oil-

Hi Spike,
I am talking about the Maximile Supreme - Engine Oil which has on the dabba - Semi Synthetic printed.
Unfortunately no snaps.

Cost - need to check the old bills and report back.

Is Maximile Supreme the recommended oil or Maximile Crown? I believe it is Maximile Crown which has 20K service intervals.

Hi Spike,
In my Scorp (CRDe -Sept 2005) the M&M ASC was pouring in Maximile -Supreme for quite some time. Initially it was some other IOC product.
Crown is the recent engine oil during the final days of my Scorp ownership.

You mean M&M converted from semi-synthetic (Supreme) to mineral (Crown) at a higher cost (Crown being more expensive than Supreme) and are blatantly cheating all customers? I don't believe it...

re: Hawk-On-Fours® (H-4®) with a tail - Scorpio mHawk 4WD EDIT: Sold!

Got hit on the rear bumper this afternoon. A little sad about it, and a little glad. Take a look at the picture first.

Hawk-On-Fours® (H-4®) with a tail - Scorpio mHawk 4WD EDIT: Sold!-bumper.jpg

A little sad:
A rather speedily driven Mark3 Amby with a blue light on the roof rammed me there. I was in the centre lane, he was in the right lane, the driver lost his nerve at the last moment because he thought there wasn't enough space for him to pass cleanly (there was!), he braked hard, Amby skidded and swung to the left a bit, and I knew he was going to hit before he did - couldn't get out of his way either. Not much damage to either car, but couldn't he aim properly for the towball and hit there?

A little glad: The reversing sensor isn't damaged, though it had popped out a little bit with the impact - pushed it back, it's working fine now. The other reason I'm so glad is that I decided to switch cars from the Swift at the last moment before going out to pick up my daughter. If this would have happened to the Swift, it would have been VERY expensive!

re: Hawk-On-Fours® (H-4®) with a tail - Scorpio mHawk 4WD EDIT: Sold!

Not happy with this vehicle at all, my 4X4 Scorpio VLX mHawk returned from first service 5000 Km last week, drove it yesterday and realized the AC has konked out, no cooling at all. cannot take it to the Mahindra Great Eascape Gurgaon event tomorrow, so much for reliability.

In my case the extended warranty was stamped on the service book itself at the showroom - Sterling Motors, Gurgaon.

That's unfortunate. Did you check the relevant fuse(s)?

Wasn't even aware that there is a Gurgaon MGE happening tomorrow. Even MGE's Events page on FB doesn't have it listed. So much for Mahindra Rise(ing)!
