Good to see that you're happy with the Swift. I've booked a Swift VDI + ABS myself, and am waiting to get delivery. Hated the fact that they do not offer airbags, rear wiper and wash, music system, and to top it all they have such a long waiting period. Why can't Maruti simply launch the ZDI for Swift is beyond my understanding?

Nice TRUE report!:)

I happened to drive Swift Diesel today, the disappointments were:

1) Every damn road bump was felt in the rear and front both.

2) Road noise inside the cabin too was very annoying.

3) Engine noise was too loud inside the cabin and it was felt at rear too. Even a Indica Vista felt perfectly sound-proof atleast for the engine and road noise.

4) The space at the rear was CRAMPED for me who is only 5.8 feets long.

5) Engine tends to knock or there is a feeling of knocking at some speeds irrespective of the gear.

6) Plastics too hard even I felt it harder than Vista. When I knocked the plastic a little there were all sorts of choooo... chiiiiii noises from it.

7) In daytime, the dashboard was producing too much glare in eyes.

Positives of the car :

1) Better mated gear box.

2) A super-chilly AC.

3) Comfy front SOFA seats.

Thanks,
-Abhishek.

The road noise is subject to the tyres and would produce same noise in any other car with same tyre brand.

3) Engine noise was too loud inside the cabin and it was felt at rear too. Even a Indica Vista felt perfectly sound-proof atleast for the engine and road noise.
The engine noise is not at all loud and yes I know its a bit high than vista but its not that high. Its even less than some petrol variant cars in market like Polo. Try to sit in a Figo and feel difference
4) The space at the rear was CRAMPED for me who is only 5.8 feets long.
Space is ok, but not that great when you comparing it with Vista.
5) Engine tends to knock or there is a feeling of knocking at some speeds irrespective of the gear.
Yes, there is turbo lag at certain RPM's where the car is like dead snake. But then all of a sudden give more throttle and it becomes monster. Best is to drive her in right gears at right speed and you would not feel that knocking.
6) Plastics too hard even I felt it harder than Vista. When I knocked the plastic a little there were all sorts of choooo... chiiiiii noises from it.
Can not comments on it. But overall I find maruti suzuki plastics ok and on par with competition but not in line with Honda's and VW's
7) In daytime, the dashboard was producing too much glare in eyes.
Never experienced it. May be that dashboard had oil polished.

Positives of the car :

1) Better mated gear box.

2) A super-chilly AC.

3) Comfy front SOFA seats.

@Sameer:

About the road noise, I have a 1999 Indica, it has minimal road noise being transfered to the cabin and I have driven also Vista there is infact no noise. I am not opposing Maruti or favouring Tata but that's what I felt.

Engine noise was too audible at rear, A little noise is tolerable but the noise inside the cabin, of engine, was really loud.

Space is really Cramped! or maybe after driving an Indica for over 1.4L kms it has become an habit to sit in the car by stretching legs.

No offence! I feel sorry if you take any.:)

hi abhishekh

Some things that you mentioned are also faced by me.First of all i would like to ask you whether the car you drove was a test drive vehicle or a personal one?

I agree with you on the ride quality and comfort and also the cramped cabin. But i feel the plastics in the swift are well put together. They may now look aged compared to the newer launches but are still fair enough.
You must drive an i10 to check out the glare of the dashboard in the windshield.Iv never noticed it in my duration of ownership.
As for the refinement and NVH of the engine, I feel that the Swift is one of the best insulated cars. The vista,Yes, is marginally better , but none on this forum have ever complained about it buddy.Yours ought to be a one off case i guess. You must drive the indigo CR4 http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...stdrive.html .
As far as engine knocking goes,Never experianced it till date.In fact the swifts engine is better tuned than any other cars using the same engine and gives excellent performance and driveability.
Yes you are right about the road noise but the moment the stock tyres are changed and better ones put the road noise just dissapears as if by magic.

Hello,

The Swift I drove was a personal, my friend's vehicle. It is a well maintained one. Leaving the comfort expect of the car, the engine is fine tuned, no BAR in that. But, Is it just me who felt that in traffic even in 2nd gear I had to use clutch alot.

Thanks.:)

Hey that means that you should have been in 1st gear at that time. The car just shoots ahead in 2nd gear so rather drive in 1st gear in traffic

Thats strange. I booked mine on July 18th, and have only just received a call today saying that I should be getting delivery around Sept 1st or 2nd. Which dealer did you book your car from? And what price are you getting it at? Any freebies too?

Hi guys

Gave my car for the 20k servicing after a 1700kms drive to goa and back.
Took the NH4 from pune and reached goa in a record 9hrs40mins.Roads are beautifull in general except for a small strech between gadhinglaj and amboli which takes time.
Average speed on NH4 was 120kmph and on NH17 was 90kmph.overall mileage being 17kmpl with A/C always on.

Got my car yesterday from the service.
All of you guys adviced me against engine flush and de carbonization. But guys a friend of mine who actually works in maruti advised me to get it done saying that it good for a long lasting and smooth engine. He has advised the next at 50k kms.
Following are the bill details :

1)Disc brake cleaning -

2)caliper pin greasing -

3)all doors adjustment -

4)Element air cleaner : 230

5)Element oil filter :334

6)plug assy,oil drain : 57

7)coolant(s.g) non amine : 209

8)Brake fluid : 138

9)grease satchet : 12

10)BG engine flush 325 ml: 675

11)BG oil suppliment 325 ml :442

12)diesel care ( de-carbonization) : 1600

13) Tranself gear oil 75w90 total elf 2.7 l : 890

14) Engine oil(IOCL) 3.1l : 562

15) Labour & paid service : 1175

16) VAT & service tax : 703

total : 7631

Diesel filter was not changed since it wasnt available
S.A. has told me to get it done at around 15k routine service

Car definitely feels much smoother now.The turbo lag seems to have reduced considerably and the car picks up well from low revs as well and i dont feel the need to be aggressive on the accelerator. But the feeling of the turbo thrust has slightly reduced. This could be because of the synthetic oil suppliment added. The cold start clatter has also significantly reduced. That was the first thing noticed by wife too.

Guys while in goa i had a puntured tyre. The tyre guy found a huge bolt as the culprit. He said that forcibly yanking it out might tear the tyre and so he just pushed it in and repaired the puncture. All seems well but guys need your advice on this.

@ Mods : Plz update the title with " 25k service done "

Guys..

Got the 25k servicing done at navneet mototrs,Thane around a month back. Now the reading is 26k.

Diesel filter was changed apart from the routine stuff.Oil wasnt changed.
Cost of diesel filter - Rs 750/-

No major issues so far ( touch wood)
A few sratches on the left stone guard courtersy a huge rock which i run over.

Last long drive i did was from Thane to shirdi and back . Fuel economy i got was around 19kmpl with average speed being 80kmph. Top speed attained was 120kmph.

Would like to warn everyone that the Nasik bypass road which one takes from Ghoti village is in absolute shambles. There are wierd craters all over the road as if the road has been broken in those places.60% of the once magnificient high speed road is like that. Its best to avoid that road and take the long route via nasik.

Interiors have held up well and surprise surprise- no annoying rattles eother ( touch wood :)
I guess the 2009 onwards swifts are better put together than the earlier ones.

Yokohamas are now8k old are are riding well. But i faced puctures twice on my right rear tyre. The first one was courtesy a huge iron file which was inside the tyre as the roadside puncture wallah could not remove it.Drove for around 100kmswith it inside the tyre and then got it removed.
After around 2k kms the repaired puncture started leaking and had to get it done again.

Have been running on service battery since one month now. One fine morning the malfunction light came up. The only prior symptoms were that the car never started on the first self and the selfs were too kind of slow and " tired " . This happened for around 14-15 days before the malfunction light appeared. SA said that its due to the battery. They took out the batterey and put it on charging for 24 hrs but even after that the specific gravity was less.So the battery has been sent to vendor and iv been given a service battery

After a couple of months of driving on a service battery, finally recieved a call from S.A saying that my battery has arrived. went the same day to the service centre to get it installed. But i was pleasantly surprised to see a brand new exide battery kept packed aside for me.Enquired with the S.A and he said something about the specific gravity in my original battery not being quite upto the mark and so it was loosing charging. On further enquiry i found out that the battery was being replaced free of cost as the car was still under original warrenty.so a xerox of my RTO smart card and service manual front page was taken and the battery replaced.

F.E update : my last tank full gave me a f.e of 15.14 kmpl.Quite decent since the car ran in bumper to bumper traffic 80% of the times with 100% A/C.
Waiting for may trip to goa now :)
