Hi! Sorry i havent been able to post any pics. The reason is that all mods went on hold as soon as the bullbar ban came into effect.

Waiting for clarity on the issue.

Will post a few recent pics of Obelix.

Obelix is almost at the 2 lac kms mark now. A trip to nepal or leh is planned for this summer. Fingers crossed!

Had upgraded the tyres after the suspension upgrade too. Went for 275/65/17 Yokohama Geolandars.

The suspension upgrade caused the 265 tyres to look a bit undersized. They had also completed almost 1 lac kms and were ready to be replaced anyway.

The bigger tyres gave the vehicle a good stance also.




Had the rims painted black as well

Thank you for the compliment. The paint on the rim isnt permanent. Its a kind of spray on plastic paint that i had done from Connaught Care who did the wrap for my car also in 2016. Cost was approx 2k per wheel with lifetime touch up warranty.

I had the good fortune to drive a 2010 special edition Pearl White Fortuner for over 750km in Jan 2018.

The one I drove had 90k on the odo, and was purchased from U-Trust, Chennai.

It looks exactly like what Obelix was at your first meeting (minus the gold emblems).

What I liked was the ease of driving this behemoth even in tight traffic. The highway drives were anyways great, but I never crossed 100kmph because I was always wary of the brakes.They aren't bad but need to be better.

Just for records, I did Trichy-Chennai non-stop and didn't feel a bit tired at the end of the drive.

The machine returned 12.5kmpl overall which I felt was excellent.

The owner has an A Star AT and this Fortuner, and says that the Fortuner returns better FE in the city than the A star .

Am another such owner who has a Brio AT for city and probably one of the last 3.0L D4D Fortuners.
The Fortuner returns anywhere between 12 & 13 even in city where as the Brio goes down to 9.
And you are absolutely right, the Fortuner's brakes does not inspire confidence.

Obelix and I took a trip to Leh to celebrate completing 200,000 kms. The last time we went was in 2013 when Obelix had completed 100,000 kms.

That time we had gone with friends but this time it was only Obelix and me and the open road.

Had the main drive belt changed before taking the trip as a precaution. I had noticed some minor cracks.

It was a 12 day trip, between 10th to 22nd September and the route was Delhi- Manali-Leh. And back down the same way.

Visited Hundar in Nubra valley and Pangong Tso also directly from Hundar via the Agham-Shyok road which joins up at Tangtse. Really a beautiful drive ... the best of the trip.

Most of the pics of my road trips and of Obelix are posted there and is updated regularly.

Got an average FE of 10.7 over the 2470 kms trip and no issues with Obelix at all during or after the road trip.

Since there are hundreds of Leh travelogues (including the one of Obelix in 2013) now, i shall not post another but feel free to ask about any information regarding route, costs, hotels etc that you may want to know about.

Well, T-Fort is an immortal truck - no doubt.

Congratulations on completing 2L kms on this beast! Honestly the looks of the previous gens Fortuners are the best and intimidating when one locks the sight of one in the I/ORVM’s.

Pics are indeed droolworthy and I’m sure you’d have had a good time spinning it around in its homegrown territory

Also, noticed one thing, your watermark in one of the pics has 2108 instead of 2018

Here are some recent pics of Obelix that i have posted on various classified ads including team bhp classifieds section as Obelix is now sadly up for sale due to the myopic vision of the NGT banning even healthy diesel cars from NCR.

It is with a very heavy heart with which i report that Obelix has found a new home.
It is now owned by a highly decorated serving Major of the Indian Armed Forces who shares my love and passion for Obelix.
All the same it had pained me greatly to see Obelix drive away driven off by someone else for the first time ever.
It was more than a car to not just me but my entire family.
My long term ownership thread also ends today after 9 years and 2.14 lac kms of ownership.

I find myself a little choked up and teary eyed even now as i write this and leave you with my last few pics of our beloved Obelix..😥

And they say Toyota's are appliances. There is no other manufacturer in the world which does reliability as well as a Toyota. Glad it has gone to a good home. What next? Another Fortuner?

Am really confused as i dont like the cramped space in the new Fortuner.
Am considering the Endeavour but after 16 years of troublefree Toyota ownership im a bit skeptical.

Been going through reviews and threads about the Endeavour endlessly.
