My Alto love story - 2006 till date with pics on every page

I would not like to start this at a note saying that i like my car but would rather say that i "I LOVE THIS CAR" , have been thru major ups and downs with this car. I've tried many modifications on this car and shes never misbehaved with me at any point in time.

i dont have too many pics after i bought her but certainly have lot of pictures and reviews after i got the modifications done and the "N" number of trips that i did with her.

Few stats about her

2006 April - stock
2006 May - Alloys ( 13 inches )

Attaching few random pictures from my trips. I'll post the entire review shortly and would like to continue my cars review for long now.

Note - My car has gone through some major change overs due to multiple accidents and changeovers.

As i said this car was bought in april 2006. This was a alto lx and i got 4 alloys " 13 inchers" got installed in it with apollo amazers.

I had no clue that installing 13 inchers without the spacers would give me so much problems but when i started taking the car out with more than 2 people it started hitting the wheel arch at the back , i also had a nice spoiler which had to be removed as one of the local dog tore it apart

This car has gone through few traumas , some of them are listed below -

First accident - esteem rammed into front left door while coming back from a river rafting trip from rishikesh

Second accident - Office cab rammed into the right fender.

Third accident - A monkey dropped a heavy flower pot from 2nd floor of my building ( i stay on the ground floor ) which shattered my front window pane and bonnet.

Fourth accident - A speeding esteen ( taxi ) @ speed of over 90 kmph rear ended my alto on the left hand side and ended up a total expense of Rs 46000 for me with an insurance amount of around Rs 7500

Fifth accident - OOPS..a nasty one which changed my life..ill let the team know soon..

This is one car that i would not like to sell as it's been a life saver for a while for me now.

I've done the entire north belt in it including rajasthan , punjab , himachal , UP and other states in north. This babe has been by my side in all my ups and downs during all my trips here.

My car currently looks quite different from what it looks right now in the pictures..it looks somewhat as it looks right now in my AVATAR ( totally different )

Like i said in my 5th post that my car CURRENTLY looks totally different from what it looks right now.

My car was STOCK when i bought it and then i got body colored bumpers and the 13 inchers ( alloys ) along with films , ORMS's and the black stickers ( high end sedans type ) for the windows.

I've had multiple accidents , which prompted me to get the dynamics of the car changed. I've always liked the looks of my car in the past however my current preferences have kind of changed due to my inclination for getting LEHED due to which i've kept my car like what its looking right now.

I bought her in April 2006 and have clocked 77256 kms till date. Shes been through many alterations and traumas but has always been a good companion throughout.

I've always got her serviced through MASS except one left axle which was procured from the local mechanic due to a quick planned trip.

Here's a link from my 3rd accident when a monkey dropped the flower pot on my car from the 3rd floor.

It was a nice sunday afternoon and me and my brother were sitting in our drawing room watching TV and we suddenly heard a LOUUDD noise and knew that something really big had happened.

As soon as we stepped out of the house , we were shocked to see our car in a state as can be seen in the video. After hearing the loud noise our neighbour came downstairs to check the damage , initially we were pretty OK with what happened as the blame went to the monkeys. A while later i called up my dad to tell him what happened and also spoke to my Mom , my mom told me that she had warned the 3rd floor neighbours to remove the flower pots from the helm of the balcony but they did not do it. After hearing mom both me and my brother were in a fit of rage and went to him and asked him to pay for it , initially he tried to used his contacts and aggression but we overpowered him soon by raising our voice and giving valid logics ( read threaten ) including telling him that his City and i10 are always parked around and anything can happen to them too ( although not very parliamentry but had to use it cos it was completely his fault )

We made him cough up 5k which easily covered our insurance amount and the loss in the no claim bonus too. The MASS took 4 days to give the car back.

Being a orkut fan as most of us were in 2007 i saw many altos getting altered better than mine ( which i could not believe ) as there were not too many altered altos in Delhi at that time unlike what one can spot in delhi these days.

I got to know a guy who was into modifications and decided to get K&N and FFE for my ride as that had always been my fantasy. I decided to get the alteration done against my familys wishes ( although this was not our family car ). Since i was the one who was doing the spending so noone interefered and i was successful in my mission.

Spent around Rs 8500 to get what i wanted and i was as excited as ever with the power and the exhaust note that i got.

Went to Rohtang with 5 people loaded along with the baggage to Rohtang pass and did the entire Delhi - Manali - Rohtang - Manali - Kullu- Manikaran - Delhi in just under 60 hours as my cousins were on a short trip to Delhi from Mumbai , both the girls were really happy with the trip as it was their first view of snow and thank me till date

Hey Harishnayak ! great write up and amazing pictures, simply reminds of my trip to Rohtang/Keylong in July2007. I had also gone in my Alto along with my wife for a 5 day trip from Gurgaon, was amazed the way the Alto handled the roads/incline, etc... keep it coming bro, waiting for some more cherished memoirs of you and your Alto..
BTW, I've got 13" Goodyear GT's of 155/55/13 specification and occasionally face the same scraping problem, need your help on the spacers, if you could help me and send me the details from where you got yours done/price/reliability etc. Thanks in advance bro !!

Thanks ridinthru. Nice to hear about the way your alto handled the mountain roads , in fact i've done Manali thrice in my Alto and the max was with 5 occupants as you can see in one of the pictures.

Spacers are available pretty much everywhere. Just look for a shocker repair shop and you might get it there. As far as prices are concerned they range from Rs 400 ( along with labour charges ) to Rs 750 and it takes only about 30-45 minutes to get it done.

Don't worry about the reliability , it would not wear out no matter what for atleast 50 k kms however the ride would definetely become little hard but i guess there's a price one has to pay for making the car a looker.

You can also get this don from karol Bagh ( it's full of shops wo do this ). I'll PM you my number and you can call me for additional details.

Few Disadvantages of getting a alto LX modified -

Mileage - Managed to get only 15-16kmpl with A/C on 80% of the time.

Maneuverability - A heavy steering with lot of manpower required to drive , wifey used to drive it only in grave situations.

Ride quality - Hard ride due to bigger tyres and spacers

Damage - Tyres hitting the underbody

Advantages - The feeling..which is PRICELESS

This happened in December 2008 at 5:00 am in the morning on NH8 when i was returning from work. I had just got down from the Radisson flyover on NH8 when i suddenly heard one of the loudest noise in my life along with a heavy jerk.

Before i realised what happened and put my foot on the brakes the pedal just sank in with no effect and my altos rear was on the Esteems bonnet and then slipped down and it was just my instant and on the feet thinking that made me steer towards the left side of the road and i immediately pulled the hand brakes. I thanked my stars that noone else was coming behind and that i did not hit the divider.

After this huge shock when the car came to a stand still i got down from to check the damage with slight pain in the neck and a wrung neck as my car did not have a headrest ( which would have otherwise taken the impact well ).

When i saw the damage i was cursing the esteem guy but he insisted on calling his owner ( who later turned out to be a Jaat ) , luckily no cops were involved and i immediately called up my friend who left the office and came and also called my brother and asked him to get a crane to tow the car away.

All the 3 parties reached within 2 hours - crane being the latest one to arrive and i got the car towed away to DD motors Maya Puri.

I have few pictures of the accident however cannot post them right now as picasa is not accessible in my office.
