AFAIK this holds true for both Petrols as well as Diesels.

But doesn't BMW suggest to put in premium fuel only?

Au contraire mon frere. Regular fuel only. But PURE, so a reputed bunk is a must.
The 3 is rapidly approaching the 2,000 km mark, and every single minute spent with it is a wonderful experience. Spent all Sunday just driving around for the joy of it, and it was joy aplenty. Also, she has started touching three-digit velocities ...and with effortless ease :) What a life-changing experience this has been !! The only grouse, if any, is maintaining a dark colour (the last dark colour we had was a dark blue Esteem about 15 years ago).
Attaching a few pics.
There's my baby back there. Soon she will be home again, and then I shall kick some life into that thread as well.
Still haven't figured out how to stop that stupid interior lamp from lighting up the solar system everytime a door's opened. At the same time, it's nice to discover little little things which put a smile across your face and marvel and German engineering.
And for those of you who are wondering, the steering is heavy but not painful. It only requires some effort at parking speeds, else its manageable in traffic etc. And I'm loving the fact that there is FINALLY an A/T at home. The stress of taking care of the 3 in traffic is nullified by the convenience of an auto.
Err....not.
Another thought crossed my mind. If we were to buy a car in this segment now, would we have bought the C220 Executive instead of the 320d CE? Nope. No regrets. Driving experience, this is as good as it gets. And since my dad i perfectly comfortable in the back (we tested the C, mind you) there are no regrets whatsoever. Glad to contribute to that ridiculous 298 figure for the 3's March sales !!
You already hit 2000KMS? I bought my 320d CE much before yours and is only driven 1500kms.
I have managed to touch 180 kmph till. Driving it the way it should be and going sideways (press DTC for 5 secs and **** to sport) occasionally.
Planing to get replace the headlights with Xenons like the 320d.
Akshay thats a quick 2k kms, taking it outta town often?
when's the first service due?

You have a fleet of other cars. This is my dad's primary vehicle and no, it doesn't do outta town trips but it runs around within the city a lot. Our 5-year old Corolla, for example, has 1,27,000 km on the odo as of now.

I drive with DTC on. Since it's dad's car, I don't drive it like that.

Nah. Dad's typical usage.

Don't know. Thanks for reminding me. Folks, when will it happen normally? Around the 10,000 mark? I was informed that the
"car will tell me".

Typically 15,000kms or 1 year. If anything else is required, the car indeed will tell you :)
The first pic is a stunner. Love the 320d to the core. Great ride mate.
Joy is truely BMW !!
Amazing photographs.
Wallpaper stuff. :)
Living the joyful experience eh. I'm not surprised that the 3 has already touched 2000 kms. There could not have been a better car for your dad. Diesel + AT = unbeatable combo. The last set of pictures are awesome and it surely is a WONDERFUL post. :)
Keep the updates coming in.
Some pics from my side

Flyingspur/others, if a person only drives about 20,000 km p.a., would it still be worth taking the 3-year/60,000 km BSI at a cost of Rs 1.40 lakh? Even if the car is serviced four times in three years, the cost of service, labour plus material, should be not more than Rs 60,000 at best. One does also have the free of cost two-year unlimited warranty. Would not it be sufficient for such a person to take the normal insurance and the BMW secure policy.
love that colour on your 3 series, but i agree with you on the pains of maintaining a car with a dark colour. such a pain.
but its worth it, your car looks fabulous! :)
Hey, Great pics, absolute wallpaper stuff.
Is that Mr. Kartik Kasbekar's handiwork?
