Hi,
Congrats on your new car. I think the Figo is a very sane car with no frills. But how about the A.S.S is it any better now?

Congratulations Gemi, I was checking the other Figo thread too. Looks like we have a winner hatchback from Ford to create more confusion among the hatchback war.

Overall its a nice, reliable car from the reviews and user opinions so far. The lack of a rear-bumper is something not many might have noticed. Do we have any other hatchback with a similar ending rear ? I doubt. May be thats one point ford has to pay attention to when they think about the 2nd batch of figos with minor corrections.

So far Ford is a minor player in the Indian market, considering the number of sales and models. Hope they improve the after-service and quality as the brand is trying to establish a position here.

wow, this colour looks too cool on figo.Ford has big hopes on this hatchback for indian market, so now remains to see their *** and spares prices which they have said being reduced for easy ownership.Do keep updating your thread and enjoy your ride.

No. I wanted something other than a FIAT. Just till they get their house in order.

Hey Gemi

If you think the oil sump is too low get a custom steel plate to cover it up. This should protect the oil sump

Check with Ford on why they missed this basic item from their list

Cheers

Hey, Nice choice of color man... I completely missed this report though i did see the white figo report of a fellow t-bhpian, Have fun & Drive safe!

Ps - that scratch must have hurt you more than the car. newaz **** happens, my new fusion fell prey to a small kid & a pebble in his hand & he took a ruler out of his bag & made a perfect 4 inch long straight line scratch with it & when i saw & yelled at him, That pesky boy ran faster than Usain bolt.

Did you get the car registered? I had to get the tc approval certificate faxed from the dealer. Also there's no hole to fix the number plate on the front bumper. Drilled the front bumper, only to find a think steel bar behind it. ( I guess it's the 'infamous dog bar' )

With that bumper, I can see bull-bars and cow-bars being fixed to the rears of Ford Figos with UP and UK plates soon!

That said, Gemi, now that you've driven so much, how do you rate the over all quality of interiors and exteriors? Looks good from pictures, but anything might look good in that shade of red!

Sorry about the scratch, hope the bumper is not punctured or torn, though.

Hi Gemi,

Congratulations.

I am surprised at your comments on the ride quality.

We (wife and myself) liked it.

I am getting it registered today.

Yeah i too had to drill a hole. They have given you screws for both front and back number plates. Hope you found it in your glovebox.

I'm not sure whether i'll do it anytime soon. I feel its good to have something like this especially on a red coloured car. It keeps the bad eyes away. Maybe i'll get it done later on. Another idea i have (this might sound stupid) is to leave the bumper as it is and just do a touch up on the body part that has lost paint so that there is no rusting problem.

The bumper is punctured but not torn apart.

The quality of the interiors is above average. I would say much better than direct competition. The dash board lay out gives you a feel of driving a much bigger car and the from windscreen that starts way below gives you a good view. It also makes you not realise that you are actually sitting low. The control stalks are very well placed and feel good to use.

The door pads too seem to be of good quality. No rattles so far from anywhere. Fit and Finish is good with regard to plastics. I noticed a welding near the rear hatch that was not smoothened up. Will post pictures of this later.

The best thing is the quality of the OEM seat cover. It feels good and does not look bad either. I'm sure this is one the the OEM seat covers you can live with for long. However an art leather cover with a lighter shade would give the much needed plush feel.

The small buzzer like sound (its there on all fords) when the turn indicators are on feels good.

There are a few things that give you a feel that ford did not realy focus on cost cutting. They just shared parts and passed the beneft to the customers (unlike some other brands who dont bother to transfer even part of excise benefits they get, let alone shared parts)

- The theatre style lights on the instrument panel
- The in cabin light with timer
- The double beadings on the door
- The Fabric Inserts on Door pads right from the Exi variant
- Lights on power window switches and headlight adjustment knob. This is a boon in the night.
- Full instrument Cluster (including Tacho) right from Exi variant.

Overall I'd say a great value for money proposition. If the market still keeps its "my neighbours car brand" attitude...well what do i say...its their loss and its their destiny.

Ford has got a lot right, this might just be the car that brings them the commercial success they have always deserved (other than the Fusion and initial Escort, all their cars had decent pricing). Thinking back, Ford is perhaps the oldest surviving "phoren" car brand in India (not counting Fiat, due to PAL days), the Esocrt used to compete with the Astra, the 309 etc., and those brands are dead.

It is just funny though, how they didn't provide holes for the number plate .
