1.5L? Are you referring to the stripped down now discontinued Civic E?

Current ex show price of the City V and Civic S have a difference of 3L.

Actually the black portion of the city dash is of high quality as well, it is the center silver finished portion which looks cheap. Same with the plastic used on door trims, I don't think there is difference in the quality. It is just that the door trim design of City dosn't look upmarket.

Very bad day at the WorkShop

Day before yesterday I had gone to Lucknow and was pleasantly surprised to see 13+kpl! I had tanked up before leaving and immediately after my return. On the way back from Lucknow I could feel the engine starting to 'open out'.

Yesterday I took the car in to the Pushp Honda workshop for the fifth alloy wheel and illuminated door sills (Step Garnish in their language). The were pending, and I was informed that they had finally arrived.

The working hours of the workshop are 9:30 to 6:30, and I was told to be there by 9:30. As usual arrived a couple of minutes early. Activity started only about 9:45.

The SA said, why not do the first free service/inspection (1000km / 1 month) at the same time, and I agreed. I was not going to do even 150km in the rest of the month.

The workshop is neat and well organised, and the customers lounge is also quite good, but with no window overlooking the workshop area. The drivers lounge has a window.

They took the car (it was #1 on the list) in and promised delivery by 13:00. He tried to sell me undercoating, which I refused. Then I saw Rs.138 for Nitrogen in the tyres in the estimate. This was done by him on his own. I scratched it out, and told him to give to give me normal air (which is in any case 78% nitrogen). Also, I had had found three tiny ball pen marks the inside panel of the drivers door. That too remains undone.

The car was ready only at 4:00pm. Then about 1km from the workshop I saw the battery warning light come on. I drove back to the workshop, and they were at it till 18:30 and could not fix it. At about 17:30 I went in and the chap and his supervisor were working methodically with a laptop hooked up to the OBD. Also, they had the documentation available and were referring to it. It was an intermittent problem. So I left the car there and they have promised to fix it today.

Isn't your car too early for its first service ? Or have you already clocked 1K on the odo ? Please post some pics of the side step garnish. Thanks
Btw, mine is going for its second service (having completed 3 months today) sometime next week. I have managed to cover 1K+ kms thus far.

I've read your thread on the problems you faced with the Honda dealership and Honda company. But somehow I missed this thread for quite some time.

Glad to know that those problems didn't put you off from owning this fantastic vehicle.

It had not done 1k, but I do not expect to do more than another 100km in the rest of the month. Since I was in for the accessories we thought might as well get done in one trip.

I picked it up around 3:30pm from the showroom. It seems when installing the illuminated sills they messed up. I had another minor run in today. When I heard nothing till 11:30or so I tried calling up the SA who was involved yesterday. He bsically said, he knows nothing (he was there when the car went in yesterday evening), he is out of town, and if I have a problem I contact the office. No info about any other number to call,etc. So I called up the service head, an ex services gentleman. He was very apologetic, and then called me back after 10 minutes, that the job was done, and also gave me the gen on it. So all is well at least for now.

Good to see that your car is back to 100%. We need long (really long) service intervals in India so that we can keep away from the monkeys at the A.S.S

Apparently when installing the wiring for the illuminated side steps they had loosened one of the connectors in the loom.

Monkeys are there aplenty everywhere. When I was a student in the UK I first had an Escort 1100, and later a 1300. I had gone to Gowrings in Reading, Ford main dealers for the South of England. In the first car, there was a leak in the Diff oil seal. They changed it, and forgot to fill oil in the diff! With the second I complained of engine stalling or braking. The fellows just opened up the idle mixture, while it required adjusting the float in the carb. My consumption went up from about 17mpg to 23, until I fixed the problem. Stopped going to Gowrings, and picked up another Garage (BL-Austin) thereafter.

I have installed a Garmin GPS. The basic suction mount is not of much use since the windscreen is so far away. So the options are use the stick on base or get the friction mount. The latter (an extra cost option) is a flat weighted bag (soft rubber underside) which sits on the dash, and the GPS mounts on it. Sits nicely on the flat part between the the two levels of the display.

I have also, ordered a 2 way lighter socket adapter from 20north (Shop in the US from India @ 20North - Millions of products, Thousands of brands) You can buy similar plug in products on e-bay but preferred the more expensive (Rs.808 incl duty) since it looked more rugged. I need it for powering both the GPS and the car fridge.

Where do you keep the car fridge, have you installed it in rear boot or somewhere inside that car?

Keeping it in the boot is impossible since the rear sat does not fold. Also, having in in the passenger compartment is more convenient. We normally keep it on the rear seat, with some sheets to prevent it from chafing.

I have had it for about 28 years and it has worked beautifully in these years. It is a thermoelectric device. It does not have much of a cooling capacity, but can keep stuff quite cool. It can go up to 30C below ambient. I also have a few ice packs, and routinely put a couple in along with the sandwiches, cold drinks, cakes, ... I normally keep water in a Thermos in the front seat with my wife.

I have seen similar products on ebay at about 10k. Only the new ones have a fancier display, and also do not need an external adapter for plugging into mains. I expect the cooling efficiency to be higher as well

Can you post some pics of the GPS using and the mounts. Can you share details about the GPS unit, model, price etc.
Did it come with maps or you had to get one? I am also planning to get a Garmin installed in my car.
