Re: Honda Civic V AT Alabaster Silver

It just happened. Oops, a typo I did only 1000km (thanks, @vigsom) . However, it was being dsriven at an average once a week. No issues.

My car came with synth so have no idea. The first change (six months) was to Mobil 1 0W40, Now it is back to Idemitsu 0W30. I am writing from Gwalior, so have clocked 330 to very short order. My past experience is that a semi- or full synth do not make much of a difference.

@dot; I goofed. My name is there everywhere, so no issues there. I cannot edit the scan now, so I guess I have to live with it, unless a mod helps me out. If a mod is reading this then please edit out my address in the scan.

The last lot was definitely 8+ actual. Just drove to Gwalior vis Jhansi. Indoicated kpl went up to 14.9. Would have been 15+ but for three traffic jams. Finally indicated it was 13.1 when I tanked up. (Lousy NH75 Jhansi - Gwalior). Have to calculate, but by the looks of it I got 12+. Will calculate and update when I get back to Kanpur.

Re: Honda Civic V AT Alabaster Silver

Calculated consumption. Local was 8.3. Highway to Gwalior & back was 12.45. NH75 (Jhansi-Gwalior - NS Corridor) stretch is in a state. Even the NH2-NH25 (EW Corrdor) has some major problems - Kalpi, Orai and then Ait. On the way back we were stuck at Ait for well over an hour, and were crawling for another 4km.

In fact I had driver the same route in August. It has become worse.

The AC seems to have conked out - no cooling. I will not be able to get it attended till mid-December. So am e-mailing the Service Manager and will get it attended then. Could be an electrical or gas leak issue.

Re: Honda Civic V AT Alabaster Silver

Finally got the car to the workshop. On the suggestion of vigsom I check and the pressure in the system was zero. The workshop spotted a punctured condenser. As this will be expensive I have opted for an insurance claim (my first claim since I started driving in 1969!). At the moment they are trying to procure a new condenser. Fingers crossed.

I think it was gravel from the road/highway. One of those things.

Re: Honda Civic V AT Alabaster Silver

Even thougy they had identified the busted condenser on Monday (19th) so far they are unable to to locate a condenser, let alone get it. So they cannot give any time frame.

Great service indeed.

Well pardon me for my ignorance but i thougt insurance was to be claimed only in case of accidents. Is it possible to claim insurance for a damaged condenser ??

Yes. It is covered under Own Damage.

I have found out the the condenser is now only 11,000 was 30,000+earlier) odd, so have dropped the idea of claiming. With 50% NCB my NCB alone amounts to about 15k. Add that I have taken a Rs.5000 exclusion. Not worth it.

They have dropped part prices for civic? Great news for me and other civic owners who plan to keep their cars around for a few more years.

Re: Honda Civic V AT Alabaster Silver

I wrote to Customer Care with a copy to the dealer after waiting for a week with no idea as to whether they have located the unit. Got an automated reply from Honda the next day that they were closed till the new year. The following day I got an e-mail from the dealer that they have got the condenser. Fortuitous or something.

The car went in yesterday and came back today.Total cost under 20k, incl repainting one panel and part of the front bumper.

Good to know that the repair was over in fairly quick time. Do you have any pictures of the old/new condenser?
