Thats an interesting incident and a frustrating one at that. What did the service guys say when you took it to the service centre?

@epicenter.rulez, that's some killer mods you've got there, your luv for your Punto is just plain visible throughout this thread. Congrats

As you know, the Punto gear shift employs a cable link for the vibration-free linkage. This could be the culprit.

A doubt:
I understand you've upgraded to 205 section Yukos; are these on the same great OE alloys?

the service guys coudnt find anything wrong with the car. but nevertheless, just out of good pr, they replaced the gear oil and bled the clutch free of cost. they also insisted in ordering a new clutch master cylinder and replacing it under warranty just to be on the safer side.

the punto is a great car with a lot of potential. thanks.
the service guys couldnt find anything wrong but then they were most helpful and came in handy when needed.
and yes, the yokos are on the same great OE alloys and the car looks absolutely wonderful shod with 205/60 v550s.
drive safe. always wear a seat belt.

will do that asap kiren.

one more thing for all you punto users and lovers out there
had the car for the 30k service some days prior to the gear lever incident.
they had mentioned a changed lock on the bill which was not chargeable as it was replaced under warranty.
upon enquiry i found out that the courtesy light (cabin light) switch is integrated into the door lock assembly and not a seperate item like conventional cars.
since the courtesy light in my car didnt operate when i unlocked it (didnt notice it myself), the guys checked it out at the service center and replaced it.
just for your information guys.
oh and yeah, the service charges were a shade over 4600 bucks this time around too.
so at 33000 kilometers on the odo if i consider 9000 bucks for total service money spent at the authorised service center and exclude the tires from the deal, it amounts to a nice 27 paise per kilometer.
will put up a detailed expense report for references soon.
drive safe everyone and have a nice day.

At 31K, your car is gobbling up the miles. I could have been substandard glue, or some mischievous fellow poking around. How are the tires holding up?

hi amartya,
the car is 33k old and yes i've been gobbling up miles
i'll be getting a new decal today so if the t falls off again or any letter at that, it will definitely be substandard glue
nobody's been poking around afaik...
the tires were changed quite some time back if you rewind and read the earlier posts.
the v550s are exceptionally good.
drive safe...always wear a seatbelt

the guys were kind enough to get me just a "t" from an accident vehicle. it'll go up onto my car today evening.

lol! This post makes me nostalgic brother.

Some years back, the letter 'A' of our Palio had fallen off and the service guys gifted me 'A' from a Fiat Palio which was damaged in an accident.

Btw, How much kms did you crunch so far? Nearing 40k eh?

Drive her safe.

i'm just a shade shy of 40k at 35k.
will be touching that mark by the end of this month, unless i have to go out for a long jaunt in which case it will be a bit earlier
i'm driving her as safely i can. the rest i leave to the abs!!
take care buddy.

After reading the full thread, I still can't believe my eyes that I saw the price of side OVRM for Rs 280 only. It costs 450 Rs for Indica. This thread is surely going to help me decide which is going to be my next car.
Thank you Mandeep for bringing this up.

38101 km update

hey guys
second blow...
while going home from factory yesterday, was following a truck.
a stone (a small rock sort of) stuck in the rear tires of the truck flew right into the windshield of the car and before anything could be done about it, a crack had appeared on the left hand side of the windshield.
didnt make any sense to stop the truck guy and argue with him as he wasnt doing it deliberately. so decided to head home. on close inspection, it looks like it can be repaired by the Windshield Experts but i am keeping my fingers crossed for it.
have observed the glass closely today and it seems that the crack will hold. but lets see how it works out.
otherwise, the car is in fine fettle. the tires will be rotated at 40k kilometers and the k&n will also need some TLC.
no squeaks, no rattles, no falling parts (except for the T from the EMOTIOM decal) till now.
absolutely love this car for what it is. may have some more good news in the week to come.

WE claims to repair any crack that is smaller than a one rupee coin area. Hope they get it, else let it. Unless of course you believe that it brings bad luck
