Hard to explain but this is a crude method to explain. In the first pic, you can see a human bone and this is its top end and exactly how that hinge looks like.
The second pic shows where to look for it.

I will post proper pics tomorrow.

@Mods- Sorry, if pic of anything not related to automobiles is not allowed. Kindly delete it in that case.
Just when I feel I know this car some hidden feature pops up. Yeah its a feature for me. Boot space sometimes becomes critical.

Where did you get that bone picture? Guess will have to wait till you post proper pics.

I did not know that.

This Punto seems to be in good caring hands.

OT: No team BHP stickers????
Yes the seats can be pushed all the way up to make space for additional luggage, even the seat can be split folded to make space for luggage. The downside is with the seats folded all the way up the front seats cannot be pushed all the way back.

Team-BHP Stickers coming soon.

How about some pics of the dashboard.
The car has been with my Dad, the reason for no updates last month. These days the Punto does not cover as much miles as in initial days, will change once i swap the keys again.

How on earth did I miss this thread?

I must admit the fact that this is the most well written and unbiased ownership review in T-BHP. Hat's off to you Anshuman.

And, I do agree with almost all the positives and negatives that you've mentioned here. Btw, the pictures are all awesome.

The rubber support is missing in our Fiat Grande Punto too. I do wonder whether all the Fiat Puntos have only one rubber support!!

I'm attaching a picture of our car.

Yes, even mine is same but I don't think it makes any difference IMO.

BTW, does anyone know what is the purpose of this thing encircled in the pic below(taken from Klub_Class's post)?

IIRC, it's called Under-Bonnet-Insulation. It acts as an insulation from sound, heat etc. Moreover, it protects the paint from heat.

Just 2000kms to go before next service.

My Punto has covered 28,000kms now. Only 2,000kms to got before next service at 30,000kms. I have been waiting for this service to be due since long as i have some minor niggles to be taken care of. The Steering lock has given up now.

Impressed by my Punto, my Uncle has bought a Punto for him. It's M-Jet Emotion pack 75hp. I suggested 75hp over 90hp as he will never exceed 3000rpm. Attaching a photo.

Anshuman, the steering lock is something that worries me. It's given up twice for me already. It's a stupid pin that gets dislodged; i've seen it happen on two cars apart from mine.

Hello anshuman,

I have booked the 15000 km / 1st year service for my Punto Emotion tomorrow. Please let me know the points I should concentrate on. I could gather the following information from Punto ownership threads;

1. Fuel filter(insert only) - Part no. 59116319
2. Oil filter DSL - Part no. 59063972 / 55197218
3. Engine oil synthetic - 0059064669

Also, my car's wipers have become squeaky, Can I get them replaced under warranty?

30,000kms Service Update.

My car is back after the 30,000km service. This time the car was sent to Telmos Auto, Hisar, this is same place where i used to get my Indica long back. This is again a typical Tata ASC but slightly better than ABS Motors, Gurgaon.

The Total bill for this free service was Rs.5700. This is obviously on higher side for a car of this segment. I did not go to collect the car this time so i will have to look at the bill to give you the final break-up of all the costs.

The steering lock was not in stock, so it remains unfixed. They will call me up when the part arrives, i was told not to expect it soon. The Driver's seat still has loads of free play, unfixed despite several visits various ASCs. Some of the minor quality niggles in interiors remain and keep irritating me.

Apart from issues reported above the car has been absolutely trouble free. Mechanically there was not a single issue i noticed. The Engine and Gearbox have been performing very well, the car still performs like a brand new car. The Suspension still feels tight and as good as new. The tires have become noisy and may last another 10k, Yokohamas will replace the GT3 tires the car currently has.

I am in love with the car's sturdy build and awesome suspension. It absorbs the bad roads so well without losing out on composure and Handling. The Brilliant Steering is heavy at lower speeds but has just the right feel missing in other cars, it's even better than my Laura's steering.

FE has been very impressive too. The Punto has been consistently returning 19-20kpl on highways at speeds lower than 100kph and 16-18kpl at higher speeds, the lower gearing robs the car of FE at higher speeds. The car is now used mostly for Highway usage so no comments on City FE.

re: Life with a Fiat Punto *UPDATE* Car sold

Nice report there Anshuman Bhai. My car is due for it's 30k service this weekend, so will be PMing you for some details :o). The car might require break pads change. Expecting a bill on the higher side this time!
