I thought about doing it Aditya but informally an insider told me that the poor bugger could loose his job as a fall out, so I let it be. What the heck ok they banged the car and then messed up the repairs but definitely not worth making someone loose his livelyhood so I have let it pass.

Surprising. I for one knew that rear wheel cylinders cost ~ 2000 each. However, when I did my service couple of weeks back, I was surprised to see that the Wheel cylinders costed only ~300 Rs each. I checked with the Service Adviser and the reply was that they are now made in India. Since the service is done at MASS, I am not suspecting any foul-play. Since the centralized record would be updated with the service details, I don't think they'd do any fancy stuff.

strange humming sound from Baleno Dashboard

Hi Guys,
for posting my Baleno problem in this post but found this is the only active Baleno thread.
I have Oct'06 preworshipped Baleno VXI with me for last 2 years. Off late I have noticed a Humming sound coming from dashboard when the car is in ignition Mode. My R&D traced down this one coming from a motor placed under dashboard on the right side of stereo. I managed to disconnect the wires & sound stopped, Even after disconnecting this motor I can drive her with A.C.

I am posting pictures of motor here if anyone knows the function & cost of this motor & also trusted person who can repair & service A/C in & around western suburbs of Mumbai please do let me know.

Thanks
Sanket

re: Suzuki Baleno it is! EDIT : Now beyond 163,000 km!

@sanket : What do the MASS guys say about this motor? Can you also post a opicture of your dash from the front seat and then mark the position of this motor?
Anyway got the requisite things done and the bill is as under:
1. Filter Assy, Fuel 1104.11
2. Cylinder Assy, Rear Wheel 251.09
3. Front disk Pad set 4506.56
4. Brake Fluid (500 ml) 262.47

Disc Brake Cleaning 100.00
Labour 300.00

Now the funny part is that they charged me for disc brake cleaning twice. Just a day prior on 18/02 and then again on 19/02.

re: Suzuki Baleno it is! EDIT : Now beyond 163,000 km!

Time to change the tyres again. the yoko C drives lasted 35000 kms but on horrible broken dirt roads so I am happy. Today changed to Goodyear Dura Plus and costed me 4150 INR per tyre. Total cost 16600. The odo reading 86947 kms.

Can you elaborate on how you were unhappy with the tyres on bad broken roads?

re: Suzuki Baleno it is! EDIT : Now beyond 163,000 km!

Mate, I was very very happy. but the tyres got worn out on the outer sides. Had the driver been slightly more vigilant with the allignments I think they would have lasted another 5k kms or so. The car was also got serviced on 23/7/13 with the odo reading 84848 kms. The details are as under:
Part number. description. amount
09409M07L01. clip. 15.90
13780-60G00. air cleaner element. 1211.93
16510M68k10. filter assy, oil. 78.67
99000-22810. AT oil (5D06). 365.97
99000M24120-551. Coolant, non amine. 207.73
99999M05W30-CAS. MGO 5W30- Castrol. 3.3 ltrs. 939.31
99999M75W90-SHL. MGGO 75W90- shell. 2.5 ltrs. 833.15

Paid labour was 1175, wheel balancing 280, wheel allignment 350, brake cleaning 400, fuel injector cleaning, 400.

Total cost 7116 including 500 as taxes.

re: Suzuki Baleno it is! EDIT : Now beyond 163,000 km!

Last week while on a plain flat piece of black tarmac near Kumarhatti the vehicle suddenly stopped moving. Got it owed to the MASS at Barog about 5 kms and found that the right axle had broken. Got it replaced. It seems the threads had worn out. The odo read 89,546 kms. Instead of getting it re threaded as suggested by MASS I got it replaced. According to them its the right one which goes always not the left one, I wonder why? The break up:
1. Right axle 5830 INR
2. Labour 200 INR

They did not charge for the towing.

Its the MGP made in India part. These days its rare for them (MASS) to use SGP parts for Baleno.

SGP parts are still available for models as old as the original Zen but only on demand. The running SGP parts are usually in stock with MSMs. Major / less frequently moving part would have to be sourced from MSM Naraina. However any service centre linked to Maruti's SAP should be able to tell you whether a given part has the option of being available as a SGP or not

re: Suzuki Baleno it is! EDIT : Now beyond 163,000 km!

The car has clocked 1,15,000 kms till last week, when i went home for the vacations. The front wheel bearings needed to be changed and MASS quoted Rs 3750 for each. Spoke to Ishaan and he recommended Mahajan Autos at Lajpat Nagar. Checked with them and he quoted Rs 500 each. Checked back with Ishaan who assured of the genuineness and picked up the bearings, they are NMK Make and are MGP. Anyone has any idea or experience of using them?
