Thanks DRIV3R.
This one point you made was a major contributor to my decision to buy the Punto.
Punto petrol and Figo Diesel were the final two contenders while booking my car.
I compromised on fuel instead of a compromise on style quotient.

Hemanth ! Absolutely amazing punto pics from the wild... ! Great job with the car and the camera, kudos to all involved. No offence meant, the figo is such an eyesore in all this !

My family thinks i'm just nuts about this car, absolutely smitten by its beauty and the ride, so much so that after 3 days of fever cough/cold, the first thing I did was to go check on my car and took her out for an hour long spin in the awesome delhi sun ...felt so much better !

Thankyou better4worse, BTW I don't find anything surprising in what you did. This car is so Addictive!

During this week, I've started to experience a new problem.
Before that, the car has now run as below:
Delivered date : 01Oct2010
Kilometeres run : 9850
Number of Days(till today) : 175
Kms /day : 56.29

Now the problem:
Every morning the car fails to start during the first crank.
first day: I removed the key and then tried...it worked.
second day: It didn't work.
So I simulated the process of myself going out and coming back in.
(i.e., I opened the key, opened the door and then closed it before locking the vehicle. then unlocked, opened door, closed the door and crancked).
The car started.
It happened the same way for three more days.

Today it refused to start no matter what I did.
I called the 24hr helpline number in the manual.
As if the car was afraid of the guy, it started

The guy whom I spoke to told me that this is a common but small problem with this car.
He told "keep trying to start and it will eventually start" .
He then told "Take it to the A.S.S and the programming will have to be checked and changed"
I think he meant that the ECU program needs flashing once again.

Have any one else faced such problems? If yes, Is there any known solution to this?
Is this particular to petrol engines like mine?

This seems like an issue with the immobilizer. Either it's not able to read the right code or there is some problem with the immobilizer unit itself. Can you hear cranking sound at all? Get it checked with the service station.

And BTW, those pics looks smashing.. Gotta go to Hasserghatta soon. Please provide the driving direction.

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

@Kaushik_s
I hear the cranking sound but the car doesn't start. So the starter motor is fine.
It must be some error with the ECU reading the code.
I'll send you a PM for the driving directions.

BTW guys, My fair lady has reached a landmark.

This called for a celebration. So I have taken her to a stylist.
Because of the rain, she is dirty now. Hence I don't want to post her pictures.
Nice pictures will follow soon.

Can I start a Longterm ownership thread now???

^^ yes the monograms are preserved. The "Punto" monogram will be pasted on the dashboard. Am I right Hemanth?

By the way, the mod job is looking great Hemanth. Next in line should be spoiler, Abarth Logos and Abarth stickers IMHO.

Thanks Manoj,
The Abarth logos and stickers will be coming hopefully next month from the UK.
If the stickers don't come I'll paste the P of punto on the dashboard.
Thats because the sticker set contains a scorpion logo for the dash.

Spoiler, chrome exhaust tip is planned during my 15k service which is another 2 months.

Just like the abarth pics on the internet. too cool.
see if you can get rid of that VIN sticker on the front left quarter glass.
Some details on how did you manage to smoke those rear lights would be great.

just cant wait to get back to Bangalore and see your car in flesh.

Only the ORVMs are painted. Everything else are stickers.
I was lucky enough to get the perfcect matching red coloured 3M stickers.
I wanted to use very less of paint so that I can switch back to the orignal look If ever I want to.
Even these ORVMs are not the factory fitted ones...I have the factory painted white caps with me.
I got new black caps and got it painted red.

Photoshoot is planned for next week...

Vidyasagar, Only after I posted the pics here, did I observe that those Bar code stickers are still on my car. Will remove it. thanks.

I got sunfilms pasted on the taillights to get that smoking effect.
I chose the lightest shade or else IMO it would've spoilt the look.

I'm also waiting for you to get those black grilles
