I agree to each & every point written by you buddy. Very beautifully narrated & your love for the car shows.

Even I was never a FIAT fan but this beautifully engineered machine is making me into one!

Hemanth, your passion for your baby amazes me. :o) I love when people lead life with flair, you already own a Punto so you definitely have the flair, but the pic above has taken your flair quotient to the next level.. Have a great time there!!

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

I Don't know how i missed this thread all these days.

I own an i20 but trust me,no other hatchback ever comes close to Punto in terms of looks. And the way you have added flavor to it, will make anyone who loves cars fall in love with it. Not overdone, Not underdone. Just the right amount.

I haven't had time to see through the thread. Will do when i go home tonite. Saw the pics 2 pages back and wow. The Abarth logo in the front, The black Spoiler, The Red ORVM mirrors, The Abarth strips across the door, The black stickers around the fog lamps, The smoked tail lamp and the stickers around it. Its all so tastefully done. Wish you many more happy miles with it

Done...I have removed the exhaust pipes. Apart from being a not-so-good looker, It had reduced the GC of the car.
On some big humps on Bengaluru roads, it used to scrape the ground. It now a gonner.

One more suggestion from many THBPians has been the blackening of the roof. Let me see when that'll happen.

Great work on your car, Hemanth! Hoping to catch your beauty on the roads once.
Any more changes planned on your beauty? How about racing stripes over the body?

BTW, why was the brake pads replaced? Isn't a bit too early?

Thankyou very much bejoy,

Yes, compared to many cars, its early.
I saw the manual before talking to the Service guy and 15k was the recommended interval to check the brakepads and replace if necessary.

As long as it serves the recommended interval, I don't mind spending.
It better to be safe than sorry.

Hope this new set is more durable.

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

Yesterday night, I had the most shocking experience with my car.
Learnt how negligent the concorde staff has been with my car.
My punto refused to start at a busy signal (chennama circle signal)
After having waited for 100seconds, I turned the key to switch on the vehicle and...Blank...The car switched off completely.not even hazard lights.

After signalling for all vehicles behind me to pass me, I pushed to car to one side of the road and tried switching on. nothing positive.
I removed the connectors in the fusebox and connected then again thinking that there might be some problems with the connectors
It did not budge. I called the toll-free 24hr helpline.
They asked me to "bump start" the vehicle even though the manual has clearly mentioned NOT to do this.

I told him that I'll not do that and then he gave me some other number.
It was getting hot because the windows were closed. Before calling the other number, I got down and shut the car door with frustration.
Voila!!! the car lights were on! So I felt happy and turned the key to start the engine...it shut off again.

I had faced this problem just after I got the car back from the A.S.S two weeks ago but that day it was OK just after one shut of the door.

Called the other number and he told me to check the battery terminal once before he can send the tow vehicle.
I opened the bonnet and checked the black connector on the terminal and it was ok.
Then I opened the cover of the red connector.....
The battery terminal and the connector were not at all in contact and the red connector had come off

I reconnected the terminal and I went home.
Called concorde and gave them a piece of my mind of how negligent they had been with my car.
Luckily for me I happened when the car was still. What if it had happened when the car was running??
I'm still stunned that the car was running like this for two weeks.
Two weeks ago when they had repaird my car's immobiliser, they have not tightened the terminal.

Tata service is spoiling a wonderful car. Glad that FIAT is slowly seperating from TATA. Hope the service also seperates very soon.

Let me also share a good thing that happened over the weekend.
I had been to the UB city on saturday for dinner. My car was in the parking lot for 3 hours.
After my dinner when I came back, I saw a visiting card on my car's window.
I checked other cars and it wasn't there on them. So it was intended only for me.

It was of a person from exoticsinindia.blogspot.com

Felt good that my car attracts attention from automotive lovers around

The second year of ownership has started on a negative as well as positive note...

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

Really sad to see TATAs guys are spoiling the overall ownership of a wonderful car.

, yesterday when I had been to Mahindra, I felt the sales people were very courteus and had almost 90% correct knowledge about XUV5OO, I always missed such passion and knowledge in the TATA guys. They are still living in the typical taxi segment mentality. I hope FIAT comes out of this bull* relationship with TATAs.

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

I'm in a dilemma now...Next week my colleague might get a set of linea alloys.
He doesn't like linea alloys as much as punto alloys.
Both of us don't mind swapping the wheels.

I'm not totally sure of how linea alloys might look on my abarth.
I just made a MSpaint job on an existing picture to check.
I still am not able to decide.

What do you guys say? Please see give me your opinion guys
I've asked 4 people now and its a tie
In the picture if you see the black punto doesn't have alloys now...I've put punto alloys for that also to make a good comparision.

On another note..I wanted to post a poll but later saw that polls can be posted only with a new thread( and only BHPian and above).
polls can't be posted with a new post. Will put this on the suggestion thread anyway.

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

Hemanth boy, personally I prefer the Punto Alloys on your Abarth.

2 things why I feel Linea Alloys won't :

- Punto Alloy design is unique and your Abarth makeover only enhances this.

- Linea Alloys are just too bland (IMO) and simply doesn't add Sportiness to your Abarth looks.

Both alloys will look cool on Punto according to me. But if you are considering Linea alloys ,then better paint it in gun metal colour or in pure white.Just check revvendra's Palio and Sumeetbahl's Punto.

hemanth...my opinion..keep the punto wheels..coz for a hatch..multispokes alloys like that of linea may not look good ..

Linea alloys are elegant but not as sporty as Punto's. I guess you are better with Punto alloys.

@Vik0728, @shk 8896, @motor spirit, @neoonwheels, @Klub class,
Thanks guys for your opinions/suggestions
So punto alloys has the maximum votes till now.

Whichever wins this poll, will be on my car because...
...I strongly believe in a kannada proverb "oota thannicche, nota pararicche" which means that...we should eat what we like and dress what others like.

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

Yesterday. some cousins of my italian beauty had come calling.
all of us escaped for a short drive of 300kms.
Its been like ages since I took my babe out for a spin.
Last 5 months and I have driven only 3000kms in dense city traffic.
She was craving to go out and I couldn't diappoint her.

We went to Yelagiri hills for lunch.
Me and my babe came back after lunch while her cousins stayed longer.
Some photos of this quick drive.
