re: My Fräulein arrives: Vento AT- Update: 30,000 km/2nd service & new shoes!

Appy birthday lady! She looks lovely even today, doesnt she?
With all the pampering you've given her, she turns out to be a looker!

Many congratulations for the 1 year anniv noop. Wishing you many more happy miles with her.

About the headlamps, it looks like a good thing to do. Lemme know your final verdict. Shall accompany you while getting it done. Heck, might think of doing the same to the Laura as well.

Ditto here (on the headlights). Has anyone discussed it with the showroom/shop? Also is Subodh in?

There goes the thoughts of buying the Honda City even if they are offering it for free.
At this rate very soon GOI must bestow upon you the Bharat Ratna.

That is a massive difference. But then I am equally surprised with your car's ODO readings. You took quite some time to reach 10k. But after that its been like a roller coaster. I think a big culprit there will be the trip to bangalore.

Many light colored cars get the "black dots" that you are talking about, specially near the road surface areas, like lower fenders or lower part of the door and rocker panels. These dirt spots have embedded inside the top coat and cannot be removed normally. Sadly, even Scorponok has them.

Congrats Anoop. Your Fräulein still looks as fresh as she was on day one. Good job keeping her all sparkling.

That is some serious mileage on a petrol AT. I think you should not have announced the mileage and the fuel expenses publicly, it might just poke someone's eye. On a side not, driving an AT is a pure bliss and can not be described. Damn our market is so bloody deprived of great diesel ATs at VFM costs.

Wishing you a happy journey with the Fräulein as long as you have it.

@noopster: Well, good to hear about the first anniversary.

For the small black dots (the usual suspect is tar and bugs), you will need to clay that portion of the panel.

There is a detailing thread here on TBHP which will help
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ing-guide.html

Unfortunately the thread is too long for anyone to read from the beginning.

I would suggest spray generous amount of WD40 on a few spots and leave for 5 minutes. Then, use a ear bud and try to clean off the tar/ bug.

Let me know if that helps.

And if you don't have that much time, head on to a car detailing center and ask them to do the claying for you.

@dot: Since you are closeby, I can do claying for you over a weekend or so. Let me know.

Hey Hey,
Happy b'day Fraulein!

HIDs will surely add to the smile of the white beauty!

Re: the black spots, the 3M car care centre (Baner link Rd.) is pretty near from where you live. They have a special package for just the thing. I'm planning to get this done for my White SX4 too.

Hi Anoop,
Happy Birthday for your Fräulein. You certainly put up some KM's on your lady that too on an AT. Many people would have heart attack with such high expenses on a petrol + AT's deadly combination.

Regarding the black spots on your car, it certainly seems to be tar spots. The best available product to get rid of it is CarPro Tar X. Thats the best available product for removing such tar spots, but being a liquid BBImpex isn't shipping it to other than in Delhi. Claying wont remove tar spots. You can use petrol to remove those black spots. Recently I had removed tar spots from my dad's Diamond White Fiesta using diesel. Did the job.

Looking forward to seeing Fräulein some day.

Hi noops,
Thanks for all the information.
- Those fuel costs are huge eh ? Was quite stumped by that. I know petrol yes, also could be a factor of city driving - with AT to boot. Quite mind boggling. Even if we were to equate the petrol and diesel costs. Going by your figures you have got an average FE return of 9.8 KMPL over the last year. Wouldn't that be a little low for a vehicle which gives you about 21/22KMPL on the highway ? Would have loved the figure to be around 14/15 KMPL.

So then what are your action plans to achieve these minimum numbers (15 KMPL) in the current year ? (PPTs/Pie Charts etc ?)
We could have a mid year review of the figures.

- That one time service cost of 8K also looks like a killer ? I know the service interval is 15K KMs as compared to 5K and 10K KMs of others . But a single service cost of 8K - whopper eh ? Leaving me wondering whether VW ASCs make at one shot what others make in 2/3 service chukkers.

Great to note that you are supremely enjoying Fraulein. In the end that's all that matters.
Cheerio and a have a fabulous year - II !

We, at Honda pay around 1850 rupees (paid service) every 5000KMs which include engine oil change every time, so that sums up to Rs. 5550 for 15000 KMs. Japanese are quite cheaper to maintain than Europeans. 8k per year/15K is little higher IMO but its a German car company which is known for high maintenance costs.

Its at par with most of the other brands. I normally pay around 8K for 20K kms for my Fiesta which is OKish.

Hi Noopster, congratulations to you and the Fräu on your 1 year milestone. Your log is awesome and keeps getting better. On an aside, I am very very interested in the HL upgrade you are planning. Please do keep in mind a comprehensive pictorial report on the process.

Congratulations Noopster and to the Fraulein. Though the fuel cost incurred by you certainly seems a dampener to the celebrations.
