get tinkering done immediately and save the panel . Like they say " a stitch in time......"

Since the car was never out of your possession since you got it then there i sdefinately the possibility that it was dented and repaired before delivery. possibly kept in a water logged area too.this would be at the yard of dealer or company.
As far as denting & repairing is concerned, this can be a possibility before delivery but since the rust is on the both doors, it may be natural also considering poor quality.

Indeed very surprising for a Honda car to develop rust patches this early for a car not even crossed 5 years yet.

From where should I get this thing checked/repaired - during service from Honda service center or any denting repair neighbourhood shops?

Blue bring it to World of Service at Sector 63 Noida, Anupam will be able to help out, he's just had my Alto inspected for rust issues and given me quite an affordable solution. Look up the WOS thread in the directory directly, or PM me.

Cheers!
Shady

Got the Venus's insurance renewed as usual from Honda Assure.

I was not bit happy with the IDV they have given - 387900 while in the market. When I checked the resale value in the market, I got quotes from minimum 4.5 lacs(not selling it anyways).

Should I continue getting the car insured from Honda Assure or switch to other options who may provide better IDV?

General question - does IDV, in any way affect resale value - say, after 3-4 years at that time?

IDV has no influence on resale value.

Crossed 34,000 kms today and mileage of 17kmpl+.

It required one to be very light on accelerator with speeds around 80kmph in 5th gear on highways. I was not really patient to be that much light on acceleration else would have easily crossed 18-19 mark on MID.

Our City has been with Tata AIG for 3 yrs now; and we've continued with the Zero Dep policy for a higher premium.

Insurance providers do have a range of premium:IDV calculations that you can choose from; so, you may have the option to go for a higher premium to get a higher IDV.

But IDV wouldn't affect resale value since the buyer's insurance would affect IDV after the sale.

Hi Gurus,
I have ANHC 2011 model. Currently it has crossed 70K kms. As you all are aware that it has got the instrument cluster lit with Orange bulb. Can this be changed to white bulb as seen in the 2013 models. Will there be any parts that needs to be changed for getting this?

Appreciate if someone can update me on this

Thanks

re: It's Me and My Honda City i-VTEC - It's Us Against the World! EDIT: Sold!

I own a 2009 Honda city. Steering Rack of my car has gone bad. Whitefield Honda has given me a quote of 43K for changing the rack. This seems like a very high cost. Does anyone has their cars steering rack replaced? Can anyone help me whether this cost is ok?

I guess the instrument cluster comes as a complete set so dont think it can be customised as such. Though you may check with car accessories guys in your neighbourhood.

Cost is bit on higher side. That's an issue with Honda - expensive spare parts.

Can you check with a reliable outside garage and take their opinion and see what amount they are quoting for the replacement?

When the steering rack of polo costs 20k at the maximum,i find it really strange that city's rack costs 43k.Get a second opinion from somewhere else, or someother service centre.

It seems that Honda City power steering box and rack is a single unit. So complete assembly has to be replaced. And the final quote that I got from Honda is for 50K . Will check some independent service centers also.

Was bit occupied in office work that I even forgot to update the thread on the ocassion of my car's 5th birthday!

Last to last week i.e. on 28th October, Venus turned 5 years & 35,000 KMs old. What a lovely association it has been so far with Honda City. Hope to have good times with her for many more years further to come.

How time flies! 5 years!

With 35k on the ODO it is time to see the SVC, will get the car serviced in coming weekends this month.

Wishing all a very happy & prosperous Diwali.

re: It's Me and My Honda City i-VTEC - It's Us Against the World! EDIT: Sold!

With next service due soon, I was thinking if switching to synthetic engine oil would increase the replacement interval of oil by 10,000 Kms instead of 5,000 Kms for mineral oil?

I mean taking the car to svc for a complete day for servicing every 5,000 KMs seems to be an issue for us due to time constraints.

What if I switch to synthetic oil and increase the service interval by 10,000 Kms instead of usual 5,000 Kms?
